A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,
I am writing this on a historic night when
the Cubs won the series against the
Cardinals. Thanks to all the Cardinal fans
for their good wishes and sportsmanship.
I did get to go to the Monday game and it
was a night I will never forget.
I want to update you on our Anchors
Aweigh Campaign. As you see on the
banners, we have a little over $100,000
in pledges toward our goal of $250,000
match for this year and ultimately
$500,000 over the 3 years for Stage 2 of
our campaign. This is a great start for a
response of 131 families of around 800
families who regularly contribute. If we
continue we will certainly reach our goal!
Please make your pledge now to help us
reach our goal.
We are grateful to the 60 families who
pledged $367,000 in Stage 1 of the
campaign. These were people who either I
visited or one of our committee contacted.
We still have around 15 people we look
forward to hearing from.
Thanks to all who have responded and I
pray the rest of you who are able will make
a pledge soon.
WE OFFER OUR PRAYERS FOR:
All the homeless, the unemployed, the military, the addicted, the
grieving, the imprisoned, and the physically and emotionally ill.

We Share Our Blessings
Pastoral Care Support Groups
This week, our Parish Tithe will be given to the Teen
March For Life.
Too many of us have been confronted with the tragedy of
suicide. You may have experienced severe depression
to the point of ending your life, or you have a loved one
who has watched a family member or friend suffer from
depression, ending in either an attempted or the finality
of suicide. Or you did not even know that your loved one
was suffering in silence until it was too late to help. All
are welcome to come, to share, and try to understand a
little bit more about suicide. Our first meeting will be
November 4, at 7 PM in St. Ambrose/St. Catherine
rooms. Geri Condon, who has experience with suicide
both personally and professionally as a licensed professional counselor will be our facilitator. For more information, contact Jeanne Fraser at 815-385-5673, ext.
224 or [email protected].
A Little Help Allows Independence
Even though he works full-time, a local man found it
impossible to find housing that he
could afford, leaving him homeless. This man was determined to
be as independent as possible this
summer and fall, so was camping
out, not wanting to use PADS until
the weather got too cold. After
reaching out for assistance through the St. Vincent de
Paul Society, he received food along with a cooler to
safely store his food and some simple camping equipment to keep him safe from the weather. This man was
grateful for the prayers and the supplies that enable him
to keep living within his means in our community.
Whoever if generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and
He will repay him for his deed. Proverbs 19:17

money that is donated a long way.
The food is packed in such a way that
each family receives everything they
need to prepare a proper holiday

funds donated is used purchase food
that benefits needy families in our own McHenry area.

rosary, and private time will give you
the opportunity to reflect on what is
going on in your life and how Christ can help. The conference is on Saturday, November 21, beginning at

Helping Hands Are Needed
We are all so busy that we sometimes feel we have no
time to participate in any ministries at Holy Apostles, but
here we offer the opportunity of a valuable yet not timeconsuming ministry: be a “helping hand.” We have many
people in the parish who are at various times in need of
help. A nice home-cooked meal, a cake or cookies, a ride
to church or to the store would be so appreciated by
them. Would you be willing to volunteer to help on an asneeded basis for the homebound or for special events at
church? Contact Jeanne Fraser, Pastoral Care, 815-3855673, x 224, or [email protected].

AMOR

grande mandamiento. El segundo es semejante a éste:
Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. Toda la Ley y los
Profetas se fundamentan en estos dos mandamientos
(Mt 22,37-40).
SALVACIÓN EN CRISTO JESÚS

19,25-27).
