That is similar to what we should have been trying to accomplish during this holy Lenten season. The term “born again” is a popular phrase in many churches, but this rebirth is also what we strive for in our Catholic Church. We are reborn in multiple ways — through Baptism, through our ongoing conversion, and through our daily efforts to be good stewards. Lent is, of course, the ideal time for us to seek this rebirth. Our efforts through the past several weeks should have been to bury our old self and to be reborn with a deeper sense of faith and trust in God. Easter is but two weeks away and Lent officially ends on Holy Thursday. However, it is not too late to rededicate ourselves to God-centered lives. St. John Eudes put it this way, “Let us therefore give ourselves to God with great desire to begin to live thus, and beg Him to destroy in us the life of the world of sin, and to establish His life within us.” FOR THE WEEKEND OF: PARA EL FIN DE SEMANA DE: MARCH 15, 2015 plate income: $24,193.00 Last year’s plate income: $26,463.00 Difference: - $2,270.00 YEAR TO DATE PLATE COLLECTION COLECTAS DEL AÑO HASTA LA FECHA 7/1/2013-12/31/2013 $349,824.77 7/1/2014-12/31/2014 $335,547.20 Difference: - $14,277.57 WE GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR CONTINUED GENEROSITY! When we are comfortable, it’s easy to forget other people. @Pontifex March 9 Humility saves man: pride makes him lose his way. REFLECTION Death is often a taboo subject in our culture. We are sheltered from seeing it, talking about it, and coming to terms with it. This is not right. As a Christian, I know that death is a beautiful part of life that ends our earthly toil. In this Gospel passage, the idea of death is taken a step further by Jesus. Extending beyond the notion of physical death, He speaks to me about a death to my earthly desires. I know that I still have a ways to go, but I truly want to allow Christ to live through me. To do this, I must lose my life now in order to gain it in heaven. I want nothing more than to be a true Christian – a person who gives glory to God in everything I do. Their exchange is found in Luke chapter 1, verses 26-38. When Mary asks how this is to happen, the angel tells her the Holy Spirit will come upon her and cites the unexpected pregnancy of her cousin, Elizabeth, in her old age, as a sign that nothing will be impossible for God. This major feast, exactly nine months before Christmas, was celebrated liturgically in the East by the fifth century and in the West by the seventh century. Ricardo Magdaleno from St. Agnes Mission & St, Anthony of Padua.....his birthday is Sunday March 22nd. MARCH 22, 2015 - FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT PAGINA 8 HISPANIC MINISTRIES / MINISTERIOS HISPANOS Hispanic Ministries Staff Grano de Trigo (559) 439-0124 Hispanic Ministries Director Director de Ministerios Hispanos Edgar Briseno ext 173 [email protected] Hispanic Ministries Assistant Asistente de Ministerios Hispanos Hna. Teresa Norberto, MCSTNJ ext. --Fray Gilberto SACRAMENTOS PARA ADULTOS CLASES YA COMENZARON DOMINGOS 10:30AM - SALÓN #21 Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright (c) J.
