A MESSAGE FROM FR. RUBEN
Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,
Happy Fall Season! Welcome back Fr. Paul!
Hope you had the chance to relax and have
some fun. It is good to take some time away in
order to recharge your battery.
At every meeting we have with the staff of our
parish. we finalize with prayers of thanksgiving
for things we are grateful for. God allows us to
see the traces of his love for us in many ways
through our parish ministries comprised of men
and women of faith.
Last Sunday morning I stopped by Fr. Sherry
Parish Center. It was really exciting to see so
many families in attendance and participating
in our Family Faith Formation.
This Sunday we celebrate All Saints Day,
when the Church commemorates every saint,
known and unknown. “Who are these people all
dressed in white? And where have they have
come from?” Rev 7:13. A Prayer for Saintly
Grace: Almighty and Everlasting God, who dost
enkindle the flame of Thy love in the hearts of
the saints, grant unto us the same faith and
power of love; that, as we rejoice in their triumphs we may profit by their examples,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. —Gothic Missal.
On Monday, November 2, we will have a
memorial Mass for All Souls’ Day at 7 PM. It is
“a holy and pious thought” to pray for the dead
2 Mc 12:45. It is an opportunity for us to remember our loved ones and especially pray for
them and all the departed. A light reception will
follow after the Mass.
Have a blessed week.
Father Ruben

Suicide Discussion Group
Too many of us have been confronted with the tragedy of
suicide. You may have experienced severe depression
to the point of ending your life, or you have a loved one
who has watched a family member or friend suffer from
depression, ending in either an attempted or the finality
of suicide. Or you did not even know that your loved one
was suffering in silence until it was too late to help. All
are welcome to come, to share, and try to understand a
little bit more about suicide. Our first meeting will be
November 4, at 7 PM in St. Ambrose/St. Catherine
rooms. Geri Condon, who has experience with suicide
both personally and professionally as a licensed professional counselor will be our facilitator. For more information, contact Jeanne Fraser at 815-385-5673, ext.

No te postres

Eternal God,
Our life is a fleeting shadow that does not endure.
Our years pass quickly, our days are few and full. We
thank You that those who have gone before us no longer have to face life’s pain or fear, that for them suffering
has ended and death itself has conquered as they have
passed from our earthly sight.
We thank You for the years of their presence among us
and while we feel the pain of their departing, we rejoice
in the faith that You have chosen them to be with You
for eternal life in heaven. Amen.
Pope Francis’ November Prayer Intentions
Dialogue: That we may be open to
personal encounter and dialogue
with all, even those whose convictions differ from or own.
Pastors: That pastors of the
Church, with profound love for
their flocks, may accompany
them and enliven their hope.
