Welcome to the 2015- 16 School Year
We are excited about all the new things here at Brigadoon this year, new procedures and new staff!
New staff include:
Debbie Audet our new principal. Debbie has had
many roles in our district including; Dean of Students,
Interventionist, Reading teacher, Coach and Vice Principal. Most of these were at Brigadoon and we are
glad to welcome her back as our new leader and principal.
Amanda Smith - our brand new ADK teacher. Ms
Smith was hired at the end of August when we knew
we had enough students to support a 3rd classroom.
She is excited to be a part of our school.
Alycia Jones-Jhanson is our new ACP teacher. She
is pleased to be a part of the Brigadoon Community.
Mythias Esp is the Paraeducator that works with Ms
Jones-Jhanson and is also new to Brigadoon and
comes to us from Panther Lake. He meets students
and families who use the crosswalk on 336th ST each
morning and afternoon in his additional role as crossing guard/ valet-patrol supervisor.
April Curtis and Kristian Baker are our 5th grade
team. They look forward to this school year and all the
events and activities that we are adding to our calendar.
The HCAP class is enjoying having Ms Chrissy Pryor
as their new teacher. She is experienced with multiage classrooms and looks forward to getting to know
our community better.
Mr Brent Irwin is our newest member of the Brigadoon Staff Team, he teaches Music and is busy learning staff and student names. He is an experienced
teacher and has worked in Federal Way for many
years. We are lucky to have him and look forward to a
great year.
Next month we’ll introduce you to the rest of our
newest team members.

Cada día cuenta
La investigación muestra que la
Asistencia es IMPORTANTE
Every Day Counts
Research shows that






Attendance is IMPORTANT
Absenteeism in the first month of school
can predict poor attendance through the
school year
Poor attendance can influence whether
children read proficiently by the end of
third grade
Chronic absences are a leading indicator
that a student will drop out of high school
Research shows that missing 10 percent of
school, or about 18 days negatively affects
a student’s academic performance… that’s
just 2 days a month
The impact of missing school is the same
whether the absence is excused or unexcused
When students improve their attendance
rates, they improve their prospect and
chances of graduating
 Attendance improves
when schools engage students and parents in positive ways







forma positiva
