PRIVATE COLLECTION
ENEA RIGHI
Organised by Lorenzo Paini, Curator of La Collezione Enea Righi.
The Private Collection exhibition provides a unique glimpse
into the world of private collections and the pioneering role
of the collector. This year, Paris Photo is pleased to present
a selection of works from one of Italy’s most prominent private
collections, La Collezione Enea Righi.
Since the 1980’s, Enea Righi has amassed a collection of over
1,000 works of contemporary art. Photography is an essential
medium of this collection and best reflects Righi’s vision
giving equal importance to both aesthetic choices and social
responsibility. The public is invited into the intimate sphere
of the collector, an encounter opening the dialogue between the
two worlds. The exhibition includes works by artists:
Trisha Donnelly, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Nan Goldin, Douglas Gordon,
Sanja Ivekovic, Joan Jonas, Zoe Leonard, Anna Maria Maiolino,
Martha Rosler, Cy Twombly and Andy Warhol.
The Private Collection exhibition is organised with the support
of J.P. Morgan, Official partner of Paris Photo.
J.P. Morgan also presents ON TIME, photographs from
the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection.
The exhibition is presented on the 1st floor in the Salon
d’Honneur of the Grand Palais. Booth SH2

PHOTOGRAPHY AFTER THE CRISIS
"Photography is traditionally regarded as the origin of a crisis
of representation that was expressed at the beginning of the
nineteenth century in politics, literature and art. Two centuries
later, it seems possible to suture the break, and consider what
are the shapes of life after the crisis."
Donatien Grau, (University of Oxford) will invite photographers,
artists, scholars, critics, curators... to debate around this
topic.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND ARTISTS’ BOOKS
Is the book still the best medium for the dissemination of
photography? Through three exchanges with artists using mainly
photography, Christophe Boutin (founder of onestar press and cofounder of Three Star Books) will disuss the elaboration of their
works. They will put in perspective their practices in relation
to the book and the fascination that this medium continues to
imparts on artists today.

Paris Photo presents BOOK MACHINE (Paris Photo, Paris), an event
dedicated to the process of book production in the grandest
sense. At the heart of this engagement is an atelier and office
of book production open to the public.
The finalists, announced November 9th at parisphoto.com, will be
provided with the opportunity to work one-on-one at
Paris Photo with five graduate year graphic design students from
ECV, Paris. In turn, the selected students are engaged in a
special occasion to work directly with public “clients” who will
undoubtedly inspire the best of creative spontaneity.

This year, Leica Camera presents a new exhibition by Stéphane Duroy
and Paulo Nozolino, organised by Paul Cottin. The works, produced
simultaneously by the two photographers during a residency at
the GwinZegal arts centre in northern Brittany, explore the
hidden nooks and crannies of our history, the echoes of a world
silently disappearing, the heritage of a rural society that is
fading away. These photographers both have a stripped-down style,
carefully selected images and an aversion to the sensational.
Two austere, uncompromising perspectives.

BMW Residency

Laureate of the 2014 BMW Residency, Natasha Caruana presents
“At First Sight/Coup de Foudre”, a series that attempts to
understand the passion of love by combining the theatricality of
the moment in which one is struck by love at first sight.
The BMW Residency was founded in 2011 from a common desire
between BMW Art & Culture and Musée Nicéphore Niépce to support
contemporary photography and its diffusion to the public.
François Cheval, Chief Curator of Musée Nicéphore Niépce, with
the museum laboratory techinical team, supports a personal projet
of young artists working in the medium of photography, chosen
after a call of submissions.
