Reed, USAF IV Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano May 24, 2015 † Pentecost Sunday V “Oh Mary, We Crown Thee With Blossoms Today” The Mission School May Crowning Mass was a beautiful celebration of our Blessed Mother. The wet weather did not dampen the emotions of the day as the school children entered the Basilica under rainy skies. As is tradition, the second graders and eighth graders were dressed in their First Communion and graduation finery. Their white dresses and classic suits added to the ceremonious feel of the day. During the pre-procession one flower bearer from every grade placed a vase of beautiful spring flowers at the base of the statue of Mary. Monsignor McKiernan celebrated the Mass and the combined choirs sang joyfully throughout. The students’ voices beautifully honored Mary as they sang “Ave Maria”, “Hail Holy Queen” “Breath of Heaven” and “Immaculate Mary”. At the conclusion of the Mass the eighth graders came together on the altar steps to crown Mary in a moving ceremony. It was a special day at Mission School as the students were reminded of the young woman who said “yes”. WOMEN OF FAITH PRESENTS…… “LESSONS ON FORGIVENESS” Guest Speaker: Erin Griffin Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM (early bird breakfast at 9 AM) Mission Pastoral Center, Room D. No charge. She was raised in San Juan Capistrano and attended Mission School. Erin is a humanitarian filmmaker and world traveler specializing in non-profit consulting, and peace and conflict film production. She lived and worked in Rwanda in 2009 and directed a short film called, “To Forgive.” All women are welcome to attend…..contact Eileen Smith 949-234-1354 or [email protected] for further information. Niños: ¿Qué dones he recibido del Espiritu Santo?
