Third Sunday of Advent:
In today’s Gospel John the Baptist says, “Whoever has two
cloaks should share with the person who has none. And whoever
has food should do likewise…” Christmas is a time of love and
gift giving…please share your abundance by giving a gift to the
Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that those who do not have
clothes and food can share in the blessings of Christmas.

A Note from Fr. Manny
Dear St. Francis Family,
We celebrate this Sunday as “Gaudete”
Sunday. (A day to Rejoice) which is symbolized by lighting a “rose” candle in our Advent
wreath instead of the purple ones and the
priest wears a rose vestments as well.
Pope Francis has just declared this new year
in our Church as the “Year of Mercy” on the occasion of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception (Dec. 8) five
days ago.
It is precisely because God loves us so much that he
sent His Son Jesus (Emmanuel) to be with us through the
womb of our Blessed Mother. The “Magnificat” song of
Mary expresses her joy praising the greatness of God that
despite her lowliness, was chosen among women to give
birth to our savior.
It is in this spirit of Joy that God loves us despite our
unworthiness that He doesn’t give up on us sinners, lost and
undeserving of His love.
In this Year of Mercy, the Church through the leadership of Pope Francis reidentifies Her role as the sanctuary
of God’s love, care, mercy, and forgiveness to all who feel
alienated by sins and all other circumstances that drove
them away from the love of God.
May St. Francis intercede for us as we try our best to
find our way back to our loving God.
For His greater glory!
Fr. Manny
nuestro Dios amoroso,
¡Por su Mayor Gloria!
Padre Manny
