Mass Etiquette: Advent
Advent is a time of preparation.
It means “to come” referring to
Jesus’ coming, at Christmas, in
the Eucharist, and His second
coming. During Advent let us
live this season with a spirit of
joy but also penance preparing
our hearts to receive Jesus.
Some ways we can do this are
respecting the Eucharistic fast
(not eating for an hour before
we receive communion) and by
spending a few moments in
silent prayer before Mass
begins.
Giving Tree Service
Opportunities
Many service opportunities with
the Giving Tree are available

Benefit on taxes by donating stock
and securities to St. Brendan’s
Now is the time to consider making a
special end of year donation to your
favorite charitable organization or
church, including St Brendan’s.
Consider donating appreciated stock
as your gift; this allows you to take full
advantage of the donation value, while
forgoing the tax on the appreciated
value. For detailed information on how
to accomplish this, or to get details on
how this type of gift saves you tax
dollars and doesn't affect your cash
flow, please contact Sebby Russo at
[email protected] or
404-828-6537.
Million Dollars in Savings is just
months away!
As of the end of October,
St. Brendan’s has put
into savings almost
$852,000 toward the
Building fund.
This is a great
accomplishment which
has picked up steam in
the past few months. Our
second collections
specifically for the
Building Fund (run twice
monthly) have been
running about
$5,000. That is
phenomenal and
indicates that the desire
for improvements to our
campus and church are
fully understood and
much needed.
In November,
Fr. Matthew, the Building Committee
and the
Stewardship Committee presented
information on the Master Plan for our
campus, including rough cost
estimates by phase. We have been
working with local architects,
Smith-Boland to fine tune the
requirements that were created from
our strategic planning efforts of 2014.
For now and through the end of this
year, let’s focus on raising the
remaining $150,000 to hit the goal of
$1,000,000 by the beginning of the
new year.
Garden Help Needed—Fall Planting
If you are interested in helping with the
Garden, please contact Ann Marie Dusek at

yrs) celebrated their Ordination Anniversary. We thank them for
their spiritual fatherhood and dedication to their vocations.
Congratulations!

Update from the Town Hall Meeting
The Town Hall was well attended on November
12th, with over 200 parishioners present. The
financial state of the parish was covered,
indicating a healthy financial picture, with over
$800,000 in our Building fund and over
$300,000 in our “stormy” day fund.
We reviewed results from the survey that was
taken on the previous Sunday. The survey was
to validate the most important needs to be
resolved in our parish going forward.
Overwhelmingly, the biggest need was
expanding the church seating, followed closely
by the chapel/conference room. In descending
order were the following: grand auditorium,
paved parking lot, ministry meeting rooms,
youth gymnasium, center for outreach
ministries, admin offices, covered gathering
space and lastly a coffee/gift shop.
This order mirrors the previous list of priority
items that were identified during our Strategic
Planning efforts of 2013-14.
Thanks to all those who attended the Town Hall
and took part in the survey. We appreciate your
input and feedback.

Otro hijo(a) dice:
Senor. Amen.
