Reflexión Semanal Weekly Reflection Resting in the Shepherd’s embrace Descansar en los brazos del Buen Pastor Today is often called Good Shepherd Sunday. The image of Jesus as the good shepherd is a cherished one. We imagine ourselves as the lamb being lovingly embraced in the arms of Jesus. In the gospel, Jesus tells us that what we imagine is reality. Unlike the hired man, “who works for pay and has no concern for the sheep,” Jesus, the good shepherd, loves us, his sheep, to the extent that he has laid down his life for us. Jesus reminds us that “when the wolf is coming he does not run away.” He is steadfast and unwavering. This quality of immovability draws us to the second image in today’s readings, the cornerstone. Jesus is the foundation. He is the point from which we draw eternal life through his death and resurrection. We have received the title “children of God” because Jesus tells us that, “I know mine and mine know me just as the Father knows me and I know the Father.” We are his sheep who recognize his voice and come to him when he calls. We are his flock destined for an eternal life that John references, “We are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed.” This is the Easter promise that we continue to celebrate as we pray, “Look upon your flock, kind Shepherd, and be pleased to settle in eternal pastures the sheep you have redeemed by the Precious Blood of your Son” (Prayer After Communion). Amen. -2- Parish Life Baptisms Happy Anniversary Please pray for the recently baptized as they begin their journey in the Body of Christ Ken & Laura Lockin 42 Years on April 14 Claire Elizabeth Ford Henry Tate Roundy Daniella Jan Shura Isabella Marie Villa Nicholas Paul Yepez Fred & Evelyn Weisshaar 30 Years on April 27 John & Mary Singh 30 Years on April 20 —————————————————— In Remembrance Please pray for those who have recently passed away and for their families Bill & Heather Lattin 27 Years on April 30 Shelby Bauer, Gene Lombardi & Edward McKernan To list anniversary, please email [email protected] by 5pm the Friday of the week before you wish it published.
