Mis amigos,
Pues todavía allí esta Francisco de Sales (el gatito
mas amable de Brooklyn, pero con el virus de SIDA).
No hay nadie que necesita ayuda con los ratoncitos??
Y amigo para toda la vida? Si le pongo en el ASPCA
(refugio de animales) le mandarán para la vida eterna el
mismo día a causa de su enfermedad. Si tú das un
hogar a este pobre gato, San Francisco nunca olvidará!
Y el otro ‘chamaco’ en esa foto soy yo – tu pastor.
Y hay varios tiempos en la vida cuando el trabajo de un
pastor es un trabajo difícil y no muy feliz. Ahora yo he
llegado a ese momento.
Desde hoy y por todo el adviento, no puedo atender
a nadie en la oficina con citas. Como hemos
mencionado mucho, nuestro obispo – el Monseñor
Nicolás DiMarzio – ha iniciado una campana para
poder asegurar la presencia de sacerdocio en la diócesis
de Brooklyn por muchos años.
También, esta
campaña, que se llama ‘Generaciones de Fe” ayudará a
nuestra parroquia aquí en Euclid Avenue.
Durante este tiempo santo, voy a pedir de casi 50
familias o personas media hora de tu tiempo para
hablar de tu compromiso. Y permíteme decirles que la
iglesia…YO…voy a pedirte un sacrificio grande.
Creo que todos saben que a mi no me gusta hablar
del dinero. Más, la idea de tener que pedirles a ustedes
personalmente, cara a cara, es algo que detesto. Sin
embargo, para la iglesia de Cristo, estoy dispuesto a
hacer todo.
Les pido no buscar una cita conmigo hasta después
de la navidad. Claro que una emergencia es una
excepción. Pero les estoy pidiendo que ustedes todos
me ayuden y que tengan mucha paciencia.,
Las cosas de adviento me llenan con alegría. Solo
pensar en la Guadalupe, el concierto, las posadas…aun
las confesiones extras….me habla de las cosas del
corazón….y un feliz adviento. Bendiciones para
todos!!

Un mensaje – lo más personal hasta hoy del
padre Frank: La campaña Generaciones de Fé nos
pide de nosotros los párrocos hacer un compromiso
también. Y han pedido que nosotros seamos un
ejemplo para el resto de la parroquia. Por eso, aquí
tienes mis pensamientos.
Todo el mundo sabe que yo he tratado siempre de
compartir – muy serio – mi salario con los pobres. Al
mismo tiempo, los sacerdotes tenemos que guardar
un dinero para cuando estemos jubilados – retirado.
No he hecho un trabajo bueno con respeto a estas
sugerencias.
Después de 28 años de servicio
sacerdotal (casi todo aquí en Blessed Sacrament) yo
tengo en el banco aproximadamente 40 mil. Y voy a
escribir un cheque a la campaña para 25 mil dólares.
Por eso, estoy rezando que, cuando en 25 años,
estoy jubilado, ustedes me pueden recibir a mí en sus
casas para vivir. Y mis perritos también??  Con

My dear friends,
Well, there he is again, Francis
De Sales the cat. The poor little
guy is still not adopted. Doesn’t
anyone have a mice problem that
you want taken care of? And
along with that, a friend for life?
If I bring him to the Animal Care
and Control, being that he has the
AIDS virus, they will put him to
sleep the same day. Anyone??
St. Francis up in heaven will not
forget this. Call me!!
The other guy in the photo is
me – Father Frank – your pastor. Sometimes it’s not
fun to be the pastor. And this is one of those times.
Between now and Christmas, I will be calling upon
close to 50 of our most committed parishioners to talk
personally about the campaign ‘Generations of Faith’.
This is the campaign which Bishop DiMarzio has
initiated in order to secure the future of the priesthood
here in the diocese of Brooklyn. It will also help us
here in the parish greatly. I, as pastor, have to ask you,
face to face, for some heavy sacrifices. And I’m
talking about your bank accounts.
Therefore, I will not be taking office appointments
until after Christmas. If you want to see me, I will
assume that you want to talk about your donation to the
campaign. (Emergency appointments will of course be
honored, but I would ask you to please be respectful of
the fact that I am doing something that I detest…asking
people for money. Please help to make this time easier
for me).
Other than these appointments, all spiritual activity
of Advent is a go. We’ll begin with extra hours of
confessions as we always do in the holy seasons. We
have Guadalupe, and Posadas, and the concert on the
19th…and all the preparations for Christmas. It’s going
to be a great Advent. Enjoy it!

Christmas mini holiday camp: Fathers Jose and
Frank along with Sister Alice will host a three-day
Nativity camp for our children (only those enrolled in
our religious education classes or Catholic School).
Our time together will be Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday after Christmas. The cost is $30 (ages 4th
grade and older). Call the rectory office to register.
The last day to register is Friday, December 11, 2015.
Father Frank’s most personal note:
The campaign entitled ‘Generations of Faith’ has
asked that the pastor make his commitment as an
example for the entire parish to see. I am going
to keep some form of this announcement in
each Bulletin until the end of the ‘asking’ phase
of the campaign.
Here’s my example.
I think everyone knows by now that I have tried
to share everything I make very seriously with
the poor. That being said, diocesan priests are
expected to prepare for their retirement. We
should be saving up. I have not done a great
job. After 28 years of serving the diocese
(mostly here in Blessed Sacrament) I have only
put away 40 thousand dollars. I plan on giving
25 thousand to the campaign.
I hope that when I’m old and retired, maybe some
of you will take me into your homes. And my
doggies too? LOL…..much love….f. frank

Academy will sponsor Breakfast with
Santa on Saturday, December 5 from
9 AM to 2 PM in the Parish Hall.
There will be photos with Santa, raffle
prizes and breakfast items. There is no
admission cost. However, we ask that
families bring nonperishable food items for the
Church pantry.
