PAPAL ENCYCLICAL ON CARING
FOR OUR HOME “LAUDATO SI”
MSGR. PABLO A. NAVARRO
ROOM AE 102-103 - 7:29 PM
We have heard much about this latest Encyclical of Pope
Francis. Most of what we have heard and know about
this encyclical come in “sound bites” from the secular
media.
Do I really know what this monumental
document contains. As the Holy Father speaks to us of
our intrinsic need to care for our common home, do we
realize that nothing in this world is indifferent to us? The
Holy Father does not only speak about our responsibility
and care for the earth...but also of our responsibility for
the quality of human life and the dignity of that life. We
are called to a radical life in response to love of God and
love of neighbor.
THE HOMELESS MINISTRY
WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF
YOU WHO BROUGHT IN THE
CLOTHES FOR THE HOMELESS.
WE WILL BE COLLECTING THEM
OUTSIDE AFTER ALL MASSES.
IF YOU FORGOT TO BRING IT
IN, YOU CAN BRING IT TO THE
CCD OFFICE OR THE PARISH OFFICE DURING
THE WEEK. GOD BLESS YOU!

PASTOR’S REFLECTION
Thirty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
November 8, 2015
Dear Friends,
We shouldn’t read the Gospel’s denunciation of the
Scribes and Pharisees as only applying to them or to
the Religious leaders of Jesus’ time. We need to
apply these Gospel maxims to ourselves. Have we
grown too comfortable? Do we “devour the houses
of widows” by playing on people’s desperation?
Do we manipulate people (even family members)
or situations for our own gain? Or do we, like Elijah
the prophet, empower them with the hope that “the
jar of flour shall not go empty, nor the jug of oil run
dry?
Be assured of my prayers for you and for your dear
ones. May the good Lord bless you with wisdom
and peace. Please pray for me.
In Christ,
Msgr. Pablo A. Navarro
PARKING LOT CHARITY AND
COURTESY
Please be mindful that the parking lot in the school
ground is open and there is always plenty of parking
available. “Fire Lanes” are exactly that. They are
lanes to be left open for an emergency for Fire or
Emergency vehicles. FIRE LANES ARE NOT
PARKING LANES. Cars parked in a fire lane can
be towed according to code. We have not enforced
this hoping for common sense and courtesy.
However, we may have to do this for emergency
safety sake.
Most of our neighbors are not Catholic or parishioners. However, they have been more than kind and
patient with us regarding damage to their lawns.
Please park in our school lot when the regular parking
places are all taken up.
Thank you for your charity and for your
courtesy in this very important matter.

Mark your calendar! As we end one year and
prepare to begin a new liturgical year, you are
invited to join our organist, Bill VanderWyden, for
an informative evening on Wednesday,
November 18, at 7:30 p.m., Room 100.
THE LITURGICAL CYCLE
AN OVERVIEW
How various celebrations draw us into a closer
relationship with the Lord.
*Seasons
*Liturgical Calendar
*Colors & Vestments
*Solemnities: Feasts: Memorials
*How Mass is celebrated on these days and in these
seasons
Some questions to ponder:
Which are the principal celebrations of the year?
When does a feast begin and end?
When do we sing the Glory to God? the
Alleluias? When do we recite the Creed?
Does the priest decide what readings he will
proclaim during Mass? How many should be
proclaimed?
How is the music selected for Mass?
Why don’t we put up Christmas decorations at the
same time as the local department stores?
Why Lent in the 21st Century?
Is Easter a day, or is it more?
If I go to a wedding Mass on Saturday, do I have to
attend Mass on Sunday? What about a funeral or a
First Communion or a Confirmation liturgy?
Should I wear black or white at a funeral?
ST. JOHN NEUMANN SEPARATED
AND DIVORCED MINISTRY will offer a
special program called "Surviving the Holidays"
on Friday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Rooms

for those going through separation or
divorce. Fee is $5. Registration is at the door.
