If you have a registered parishioner to add to our
prayer list, please contact the executive assistant in the
parish office. Please let us know when it is time to
remove a name from the list. Please inscribe the
names of non-parishioners (e.g. family members,
friends, neighbors, co-workers) in the prayer intention
book found in the church vestibule. Please inscribe
their name only once as their needs will be
remembered at Masses throughout the year.
If you are hospitalized or homebound and would like
to receive Communion, please call Pat & Gary Boylan
at 941-204-7837.
You may also contact someone from the Eucharistic
Apostles of Divine Mercy who will pray the Chaplet of
Divine Mercy or other prayers with you. Please call
Lillian Pente at 843-705-7170.
During a particularly difficult period at one place I
worked, I would come home at night and rehash
conversations and events, wondering whether the
outcome would have been different if I’d said or done
something else.
I wonder whether the apostles asked themselves
the same kinds of questions after the crucifixion.
“Should we have done something differently? Could we
have prevented this somehow?” Perhaps they locked
the door because they were afraid they’d be put to
death too.
When we’re in a bad situation, sometimes all we
want to do is hide. It’s a child’s response: If I don’t look
at it, maybe it will go away. But the locked door was no
barrier, and Jesus came and stood in their midst.
Rather than ridicule their fear, he gently put it to rest:
“Peace be with you.” The more Jesus talked, the more
they heard, and they came to know that the peace of
the Lord is not like the world’s peace.
It’s not a temporary measure that will only give way
to more turmoil. Jesus calmly and lovingly put their
fears to rest. It wasn’t that the world was suddenly
going to be welcoming; rather, they would be confident
in the new life that was in them and in the grace Christ
alone can give.
Jesus does this for us as well. He walks through the
locked doors of our hearts and blesses us with peace.
The more we listen to Jesus’ words, the more we can
understand and witness to his truth.
Is the Lord with you today?

St. Gregory the Great Adoration Society
“Would you not spend one hour with Me?”
Eucharistic Adoration is adoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ
Our Perpetual Adoration Chapel gives us an opportunity to spend an hour of prayer and give thanks for the
many blessings we have received. This hour in peace and meditation with the Blessed Sacrament can also be an
opportunity to pray for our friends and family who are sick or just need our prayers. Christ instituted this Holy
Sacrament of the Eucharist in order to remain with mankind until the end of time (Jn. 14:18).
Our wish is to have someone present for each of the 24 hours throughout the day in silent contemplation and
reflection. We can use more adorers for this ministry. Please be generous with your time and sign up for one
hour of adoration.
If you have any questions or feel you can sign up for just one hour per week please call John Klinger 757-7454 or
send an email to [email protected].

SGGCS ODYSSEY OF THE MIND TEAM
On March 21, the first ever St. Gregory the Great Catholic School 'Odyssey of the Mind' team participated in the
South Carolina state wide competition in Columbia, SC. The team consisted of fourth and fifth grade students
Reaghan Evans, Austin Floyd, William Lemire, Marbella Nungary, Emma Puplava, Samantha Reilly, and Peter
Torinese and was coached by Diane Reilly. In the 'Odyssey of the Mind' competition, students are presented
with a problem which they have to solve utilizing their artistic, scientific, creative, and practical knowledge.
Under specific rules and regulations, the students present their resolution in the form of a skit which allows for
props. The question posed involved designing, building and demonstrating various devices that complete
specific tasks, however, all devices had to be powered by rubber bands. The team created an ‘Amazon Rain
Forest skit' in which they resolved technical failures. The St. Gregory team won first place in the third - fifth
grade division and now moves on to the world competition held in Michigan in late May. The team has planned
a series of fundraising events to help offset the cost of the trip. Below is information regarding a fundraiser trail

STEWARDSHIP LIFE
Did you know that more than 150 Parishioners
participate in our Music Ministry?
Chris's heart is now pumping blood.
All four chambers of the heart are
working. The umbilical cord forms like
a lifeline for the baby in the space of
the womb. The lungs start to appear along with the
brain. Arm and leg buds start to appear. Soon Chris
will be doing somersaults and back flips in the
spacious world of the womb.
Mother also is undergoing some major changes.
She is probably tired and may experience morning
sickness as her body adjusts to a baby.
"You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my
mother's womb. I praise you, so wonderfully you
made me; wonderful are your works!" Psalm
139:13-14

and Tanzania. This May, we will be going to Colombia. Since 2006, we have led 30+ missions.
Bishop Severine Niwemugizi, of the Diocese of Rulenge-Ngara, in Tanzanian, has asked us back. COME
JOIN US. Many who participated in the 2011 special mission to Rulenge will be returning with us. Take your love
with you to mostly forgotten villages. See Lake Victoria, orange sunsets. Live the pages of National Geographic!
You will remember this with a happy smile. Enjoy a short Safari and Addis Ababa. We are especially seeking
doctors, dentists, pharmacists and nurses. Untrained support people are the backbone of our mission. We have a
priest who celebrates daily Mass. You do not need to be Catholic to serve on the team, simply have an open
heart. Total common cost approximately $3,200 (includes airfares, Visas, room & board, Safari, hotels,
transportation, tour(s), medivac and other insurances.
If you have any questions or want more information, please contact
Jake Schroeder at [email protected] or 838-7060.

En el principio ...
El corazón de Chris está bombeando
sangre.
matriz. Los pulmones comienzan a
aparecer junto con el cerebro. Brazo y brotes de las
piernas comienzan a aparecer.

CHRISTIAN OUTREACH
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
We invite you to help the poor and the needy of
Greater Bluffton.
We are The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St.
Gregory the Great. We are all volunteers. We
respond to calls from our help line by
visiting callers in their homes, apartments and
trailers. They need food, rent, water and
electricity. We see their needs up close, hear
their stories, verify the facts and make sure your
money does as much good as possible. Come join
us, as a contributor or as a member.
To contribute, please use the envelopes at
either side of the church doors or write to us at
333 Fording Island Rd., Bluffton, SC 29909. We
welcome new members. The May meeting will be
held at St. Andrew Hall, the second Saturday,
May 9 at 9:30 a.m.

Karios Cookie
Well, it is that time of year again. The
Kariros team will be going to the Allendale
Correctional Institute April 29 through May 3
to take the word of the Lord to its residents.
We will take approximately 38 volunteers to the
prison to present the Gospel to 36 residents with the
hope that the seed of the Lord will fertilize some of these
fellows. As you know, we take 7000 dozen cookies into
the prison to give to all the inmates, 1300 guys, so they
will have some connection also to our Ministry.
Please help us make this huge goal by making/
donating cookies and bringing them to the school by
Tuesday, April 28, no later than noon.
Cookies must be oatmeal, chocolate chip or sugar.
They can have no powdered sugar or fruit on top. It is
helpful if they are packed in zip lock bag with a dozen in
each bag. Do not use aluminum foil to wrap cookies.
Do not pack in large boxes. Shoe boxes or pizza boxes
are ideal.
Thank you for your help with this project. If you have
any questions, please contact Jack Burt at 843-7059798.
