A note from Father Brian
First of all, a big thanks to all those who participated in last week’s Ministry Fair! I was so impressed
by the energy and enthusiasm of all the volunteers staffing the tables, and of all those who took the time to visit
them. God needs all of us, together, to build up our parish, and your participation last Sunday showed me that
we are ready to meet that challenge
Our Gospel today likewise reminds us of how much God relies on us. Just like the servants in the
parable, we too have been entrusted with some amazing blessings, ours not to own but only to manage. We
cannot be content with simply burying them in the ground. Rather, our blessings are meant to be shared and
used to grow the kingdom of God.
On that note, I would like to share with all of you the financial health of our parish for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. On the
next page you will find a chart of our income and expenses. Please take a look at these numbers; they represent the great sacrifices
made by so many of you, as well as the demands constantly placed on our parish. It should be no surprise that your weekend
contributions to us are our greatest source of income. About half this money is spent on salaries for our staff who are here to serve
you and deserve a just and living wage.
But these numbers tell only part of the story. As I previously mentioned, over time we accumulated a debt of about
$800,000 to the Archdiocese, and we need to pay about $13,000 each month just to keep the debt from getting bigger. Our new
budget for 2014-2015 accounts for these monthly payments and leaves us with only about $10,000 a month after expenses. Little by
little we will pay off our debt, but we also be building for the future, which means spending wisely and also trying to save money.
(And in case you are wondering about my promise to paint the church, please rest assured that our building and maintenance fund is
considered “restricted income” and can be used for no other purpose. I still plan to paint our church next summer.)
This weekend we will start taking signups for families and individuals interested in helping to light the Advent wreath
during our Sunday (and Saturday evening) Masses during Advent. The signup sheet will be located just outside the sacristy. Please,
just one Mass per family so that others get a chance.
Don’t forget our annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors food drive! All groups, ministries and community members are
invited to take turns staffing the NHN table in the east patio.
Next Sunday our second collection will be for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. This is the domestic antipoverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, working to break the cycle of poverty by helping low-income people with education,
health care, legal representation and employment assistance. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Finally, in light of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, please note the following special deadlines for our weekly bulletin. All
submissions for next Sunday’s bulletin are due in our office by Monday (Nov. 17), and all submissions for Nov. 30 are due by
Thursday (Nov. 20).

En primer lugar deseo agradecer a todos los que participaron la semana pasada en la ¡Feria de Ministerios! Me sentí muy impresionado
de la energía y entusiasmo de todas las personas voluntarias arreglando las mesas y, de todos aquellos que pasaron a visitar los diferentes
ministerios. Dios nos necesita a todos juntos para construir nuestra parroquia y su participación durante el Domingo pasado me demostró que
verdaderamente estamos listos para alcanzar ese objetivo.
El Evangelio de hoy nos recuerda cuánto Dios confía en nosotros. Al igual que a los siervos de la parábola, a nosotros también se nos ha
confiado increíbles bendiciones, no para poseerlas, sino para administrarlas. No podemos contentarnos con enterrarlas solamente. Al contrario,
nuestras bendiciones están destinadas a ser compartidas y usadas para seguir en el crecimiento del reino de Dios.
A este punto, me gustaría compartir con ustedes la situación financiera de nuestra parroquia del año fiscal 2013-2014 . En la siguiente
página ustedes encontrarán un detalle de nuestras entregadas y los gastos. Por favor, estudien con atención éstos números que representan los
grandes sacrificios hechos por muchísimos de ustedes, asi como las demandas constantes de nuestra parroquia. No debería sorprenderles que sus
contribuciones semanales son nuestra mayor fuente de ingresos. Cerca de la mitad de este dinero se utiliza en sueldos para nuestro personal que se
encuentra aquí para servir a ustedes y que merecen un pago justo de vida. Estos números solo nos dicen parte de la historia. Como les había
mencionado previamente, con el tiempo, hemos acumulado la deuda de $800,000 a la Arquidiócesis y necesitamos pagar mensualmente $13,000
de modo que la deuda no siga creciendo. Nuestro nuevo presupuesto de gastos para el año 2014-2015 nos deja con un total únicamente de $10,000
mensuales después de cumplir con los gastos. Mandatorios. Poco a poco terminaremos de pagar nuestra deuda pero seguiremos construyendo para

Este fin de semana estaremos tomando nombres de familias o/y personas individuales que desean participar en la tradición de encender
la Corona de Adviento durante nuestras Misas de los Domingos (y Sábado por la noche) durante el Adviento. El horario de Misas para firmar se
encontrará junto a la puerta de la sacristía. Por favor, una Misa por familia o persona con el fin de que todos tengan la oportunidad de participar.
Por favor, No olviden nuestra colecta de alimentos para Vecinos Ayudando a Vecinos. Todos los grupos, ministerios y comunidad están
invitados a ayudar en las mesas localizadas en el patio.

El grupo de la Divina Misericordia les da la

La segunda Colecta del próximo Domingo estará dedicada a
la Campaña Católica del Desarrollo Humano. Este es un programa de
anti-pobreza de los Obispos Católicos de los Estados Unidos
trabajando para romper el círculo de pobreza ayudando a familias de
bajos recursos con educación, cuidado de salud, representación legal y
asistencia de empleo. Gracias por adelantado por su generosidad.
Finalmente, acercándonos ya, rápidamente, a la festividad de
Acción de Gracias, les pido tomar en cuenta las fechas topes para
presentar artículos para el boletín. Artículos para el boletín del
Domingo 23, deberán estar en nuestra oficina el 17 de Noviembre y
artículos para el boletín del 30, el 20 de Noviembre.

CAMPAÑA CATOLICA PARA EL
DESARROLLO HUMANO
La próxima semana tendremos la colecta para la Campaña
Católica para el Desarrollo Humano que da vida a la enseñanza
social católica. CCHD financia programas comunitarios y
proporciona desarrollo económico en todo los Estados Unidos
que ayudan a reunir a las personas pobres y marginadas para
que tomen decisiones, busquen soluciones a los problemas
locales y encuentren la manera de mejorar sus vidas y sus
vecindarios.
Las iniciativas de desarrollo económico ayudan a crear nuevas
empresas y trabajos.CCHD también proporciona oportunidades
educativas para que los católicos se informen acerca de la
pobreza, a estar en solidaridad con aquellos afectados por ella
y reflexionar sobre su propia responsabilidad ante la gran
necesidad de los demás.
Su generoso apoyo a la colecta de su parroquia, y durante el
año es vital para la misión anti-pobreza de CCHD y produce un
verdadero cambio.

aumentar la seguridad de la escuela, como el organizar a padres de familia para
formar un grupo de vigilancia del vecindario antes y después de las horas de
escuela. Algunas veces los grupos de padres de familia son altamente existosos
en hacer mejoras para la seguridad el tráfico durante las horas de ir a dejar y
recoger a los niños.

El Centro de Asistencia Familiar Vecinos Ayudando a Vecinos, está
necesitando ayuda monetaria o de alimentos en preparación a los
