THE CATHOLIC CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY OF SANGER AND DEL REY Office- 828 “O” Street, Sanger, California 93657 Phone 875-2025 — Fax 875-2618 TOWARD HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS Twenty-seventh Sunday CAMINO A RELACIONES SALUDABLES in Ordinary Time Desde comienzos de la creación, October 4, 2015 Dios tenía planeado que los seres humanos From the beginning of creation, God intended for people to live together in relationship with one another. Much of scripture shows us how to do this as it illustrates and clarifies God’s plans. The readings this weekend guide us in the value and care of our relationships. Specifically, the Gospel focuses on the circumstances of failed relationships. Unlike the Pharisees, we would do well not to focus on the laws that pertain to failed relationships, but concentrate instead on what God really intended for us. Healthy bonds require a lot of our time and energy. They certainly require trust and honesty. Jesus demonstrated a deep commitment to his friends and to us. As our brother, he gave his very life for us. Children work hard at friendships. They trust, forgive, and love without conditions. The final words of today’s Gospel invite us to welcome Jesus and the people of our relationships with the fresh enthusiasm of a child. vivieran unidos llevándose bien unos con otros. RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY 2015 RESPETO A LA VIDA 2015 Beginning October 4th, Respect Life Sunday, our nation’s Catholics will be called to renew their personal commitment to defend ALL human life. PRAYER Heavenly Father, thank you for the precious gift of life. Help us to cherish and protect this gift, even in the midst of fear, pain, and suffering. Give us love for all people, especially the most vulnerable, and help us bear witness to the truth that every life is worth living. Grant us the humility to accept help when we are in need, and teach us to be merciful to all. Through our words and actions, may others encounter the outstretched hands of Your mercy. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen. Amen. ST. MARY’S CHURCH, SANGER CA —ST. SAINTS AND OBSERVANCES Tuesday: Saint Bruno, Priest; Blessed Marie-Rose Durocher, Virgin IN LOVING MEMORY OF FR. SALVATORE CIRANNI, R.C.J. Fr. Salvatore arrived in Mendota, CA in 1969, where the Rogationists had received a parish in 1967 with Fr. Tursi after waiting for almost 30 years. Fr. Sal soon began to learn English studying and helping in the Cathedral and the parish in Clovis. In 1972 became pastor in Mendota and brought new vitality to a parish of Mexican Immigrants. He could also be seen on the roof of the old buildings putting tiles and renovating the church. In 1978 the Rogationists were asked by then Bishop Mahony to take the parish of St. Mary's in Sanger with Father Sal as pastor. Again new vitality was brought to the parish with renovation to the buildings and new programs for the youth and the children. After a brief staying in Rome in 1981, he went as a missionary in the Philippines where he brought new development to the starting mission. In 1991 he returned to Sanger for about twenty years, dedicated to the apostolate, marriage ministry, and especially help to the poor. After a brief stay in Los Angeles in 2013 he returned to Italy to assist his ailing brother Fr. Gaetano. From the many people who remember him, we can see that he had a personal impact on the life of many people. We celebrated a memorial Mass for him on Thursday, October 1st.
