October 4, 2015 Twenty-seventh Sunday in ordinary time Dear Parishioners, Thank you for your generosity towards our annual SVDP Food Drive. This year, the SVDP Food Drive was renamed the John Jezak Food Drive after Jezak, our fellow parishioner, Vincentian and Knight, died suddenly last month. David Roberts, Conference of SVDP President, told us that for many years, John had handled all the details of our three times a year food and clothing drives, so it was decided that the drives would now be named after Jezak in honor of him. 2699 Peachtree Road, NE Atlanta, Georgia 30305 404-233-2145 www.cathedralofchristtheking.org WHAT’S INSIDE: Around the Parish Page 2 AAA Update Page 3 The food drive, held on September 19 and 20, produced 4,160 pounds of food and supplies for the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry on Chamblee Dunwoody Rd. That is more than two tons! We were grateful to have a large group of St. Pius X football players help us load the truck. “We are blessed to be a part of a very generous parish,” Roberts said. “SVDP can always count on the Cathedral for its support.” Thank you again for your generosity. TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 4, 2015 CTK Only Atlanta Stop for German Choir The Paderborn Cathedral Choir from Germany will be performing at the Cathedral of Christ the King on Wednesday, October 14 at 7:30 pm. The Cathedral is the choir’s only stop in Atlanta. There is no charge for this event. The Paderborner Domchor is acclaimed as one of Germany’s most renowned cathedral boys‘ choirs. More than 100 boys aged 8 to 16 years and well over 30 young men sing in various choir ensembles from the choir's preschool to a concert choir. The history of the Domchor in its present-day form as a four-part boys’ choir dates back to 1889 when Domkantor Carl Fischer began to considerably expand the Cathedral’s existing Choralschola by adding boys. In the course of its 125th choir anniversary, about 75 Domchor members will embark on a two-week tour through the USA in October 2015.
