Jeff Rowlands
Jeff Rowlands is an Emeritus Professor and the former Head of Department at NMMU. He has consulted
with SAICA for many years and spearheaded the shift to the new competence based structure and has
been deeply involved in the development of the competency framework.
Jeff has been a part of APT for the last 4 years, guiding the development of our APC Programme.
Jeff has written numerous reports, articles in national and international journals and papers at national
and international conferences.
Peter Bourne
Peter has been involved in teaching Auditing and Governance on accredited professional accounting
programmes for 28 years. He is a former partner in KPMG having left the accounting profession in 1990
to pursue an academic career.
Peter presented on the Cape Town Board Course from 1991 to 2013, and is a co-author of Graded
Tutorials in Auditing and Dynamic Auditing.
Micheal Wormald
Prof Michael Wormald has been involved in teaching Management Accounting and Financial
Management on accredited professional accounting programmes for over thirty years.
He was a founding member of the Cape Town Board Course and is a co-author of the textbook
“Financial Management” which is widely used by both accounting and business finance academics in
South Africa and Australia.
Michael has published a number of papers in academic journals and has twice been awarded the
Standard Bank Prize for papers published in SAJAR. He has also presented at a number of local and
overseas conferences.
Enrico Ulliana
Prof Enrico Uliana, a Chartered Accountant, entered academia after 10 years in practice, obtaining his
doctorate in financial management. He is rated by the National Research Foundation and has over 80
publications internationally in scholarly and professional journals and conference papers.
He is the editor of SA Journal of Accounting Research and on the Editorial Board of several international
journals. He has co-authored three textbooks (eleven editions) including the most widely prescribed
financial management textbook in South Africa over the past 25 years.
The Southern African Accounting Association presented him with the Ernst & Young Outstanding
Contribution to Accounting Research Award. Other professional activities include consulting to various
organisations in management accounting, finance and strategy, and providing expert opinion in legal disputes.

Ben Marx
Ben is Professor and Programme Director of Post Graduate Studies at the University of Johannesburg.
He was the top accounting student in his Honours and CTA class and obtained the overall third place
in the Qualifying Examination of the PAAB in 1989. He lectures auditing to the Accounting Honours
(CTA) students at University of Johannesburg and is also responsible for Auditing on the University of
Johannesburg’s Gauteng Board Course.
He is presenter on the UJ and IOD Corporate Governance Diploma, specialising in audit and audit
committees and a key presenter on the Gauteng Board Course. He is co-author of Dynamic Auditing.
Ben remains involved with the profession through being a regular speaker at seminars on audit related
aspects. Professor Marx holds a doctoral degree in Auditing.
Alex van der Watt
Alex is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Accountancy at the University of
Johannesburg. He is a registered CA (SA) and holds a Masters degree in Financial Management.
He has been lecturing Auditing on the Honours/CTA programme of the University of Johannesburg for
the past six years and is a key presenter on the Gauteng Board Course. He is also co-author of several
auditing text books, including Dynamic Auditing.
Henk Kriek
In April 2013, Henk took up the appointment of Chief Financial Officer of King Abdullah University of
Science and Technology (KAUST) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prior to joining KAUST, Henk spent
seven years at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in South Africa and held the positions of Acting
Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences.
He finished his academic articles in 1990 and joined the Department in 1993, after completion of
his articles at KPMG. He is also an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management
Accountants (CIMA) of the UK. Henk presented on the Gauteng Board Course and was involved in a
number of Financial Management and Management Accounting courses run at various corporations in
Johannesburg.
He has also presented on the University of Johannesburg CIMA stage 4 course.
Ahmed Mohammadali Haji
Ahmed is a senior lecturer and the subject head of Financial Accounting at the University of Johannesburg.
He is a CA (SA), having obtained his BCOM Accounting degree cum laude, his BCOM Accounting (Honours)
degree cum laude, and a Top 10 position in the SAICA qualifying exam.
He currently lectures Advanced Financial Accounting to the CTA (Accounting Honours) students at
the University of Johannesburg and Financial Accounting on the Gauteng Board Course. He is also the
Programme Coordinator and presenter on the Financial Management Specialism course.
He is an author of Principles of Management Accounting. Ahmed remains involved with the profession
through CPD presentations.

Dewald Joubert
Dewald Joubert has been a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accountancy at the University of
Johannesburg (UJ) since 2004. Dewald lectures Managerial Accounting and Finance to Honours/CTA
students. He also lectures on several post-graduate courses.
He has been involved with the Gauteng Board Course since 2005 and has lectured on APT finance since
2012. Dewald is a CA (SA) and holds a Masters Degree in Financial Management.
Lyndsay Maseko
Lyndsay obtained his B Com Hons (Accounting) at the Rand Afrikaans University (now University of
Johannesburg) and completed his articles at KPMG in the Energy and Natural Resources Business Unit
in 2007. In 2008 Lyndsay joined the Department of Accountancy of the University of Johannesburg as
a senior lecturer for Auditing and immediately got involved with APT in an examination reviewer and
lecturer capacity.
In 2010 Lyndsay was appointed assistant umpire by the IRBA and still holds this position. Lyndsay
currently lectures taxation at a CTA level, is actively involved with SAICA’s Thuthuka programmes at
both ITC and PPE level and is a key presenter on the Gauteng Board Course. He is a qualified chartered
accountant (CA) and registered auditor (RA) and is completing his M Com (Computer Auditing) at the
University of Johannesburg.
