Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
November 15, 2015
Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away.
— Mark 13:31
My Dear Parishioners,
This weekend we welcome Father Geoffrey Baraan, the Pastor of St. Anne’s
Parish in Union City, to our Parish. He is here on behalf of Bishop Michael Barber,
S.J. to thank us for our participation in the Reclaiming Christ's Mission Together
Campaign and also to invite those who have not yet participated in this
campaign to join in so that we can achieve our goal of $648,101.
I am very grateful to all who have already generously contributed to the
Campaign. Your monthly, quarterly, and annual pledges can be sent directly to:
Reclaiming Christ’s Mission Together
Diocese of Oakland
2121 Harrison Street, Suite 100
Oakland, CA 94612
Envelopes are available at the exits of the Church and also in the Parish Office.
The other day I was so touched by one of our parishioners who came and gave
me an envelope with $2,000.00 for the Capital Campaign. She told me, “I don’t have
much. I live on a fixed income but this is what I have. I want to give to help our
diocese to advance the mission of Christ.”
Remember, equal sacrifice—not equal amounts. Each of us needs to ask
ourselves, “what is a sacrificial gift from me and what can I contribute to this
Campaign.”
Please pray that our Mission is successful. Each one of us is a Christian steward
who receives God’s gifts gratefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible way,
shares them with others, and returns them with an increase to the Lord.
In summary: Parish Goal:
$648,101.56
Received:
$270,591.23
% of Goal reached:
41.75%
We have received $13,701.83 back from the Diocese for our Parish so far.
With a grateful heart,
Father Tom

a new instructor at half price.

Testament, Christian Prayer and Spirituality, the
Sacraments, and the Creed: Part I (Trinity, Jesus
Christ, and the Paschal Event).
Each course

If you are the parent of a preschool age child and you
are exploring your options for Kindergarten then you need
to come and join us. We will have a Kindergarten
information night in the school library on November 17th
at 7pm. We will be sharing all the opportunities we have
for students to excel academically and develop as a
spiritually centered individual. You will have the
opportunity to meet the Kindergarten teacher and tour the
classroom. Priority registration will be given to all that
attend. Additionally, childcare will be provided if needed.
I look forward to seeing any interested parishioners!

GETTING THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES
“It’s going to get worse before it gets better” is a
phrase that prepares us to buckle up for a rough ride. We
know that enduring a difficult time will require some
strenuous physical or emotional energy on our part before
we experience the calm of normality. Our past experience
tells us that we can endure the difficult pressure better
when we know how long it will last and if we know that
something better awaits us. Getting through the tough
times while holding to the promise that awaits us is the
message of this weekend’s readings. They point toward
the promises of God’s kingdom that will come after the
maelstroms and chaos of this world.
