For the week of November 10-14
Be a Writer: We will be focusing on writing fables this week. Fables are stories that
teach us a moral, or a lesson. We will be following the 5-step writing process for
this activity.
Be a Reader: We will be reading the “magazine” in the front cover of our books
entitled “Be Informed”. This section focuses on current events around the worlds
and how students can make a difference on issues that matter!
Be a Mathematician: We will be learning about decimals this week. An easy way
to practice decimals is to go to the grocery store. Look at the prices and try to
add and subtract the amounts as you shop.
Be a Speaker: Each week, we will be studying a set of key words. It is important
to learn both the definition and the spelling of each key word.
Key Words: breakfast, crowd, crown, diet, dinner, fruit, grains, hare, lunch,
meat, oil, peanuts, torch, tortoise, vegetables

Monday’s Homework:
Read page 91. Do pages 92 and 93. Use a red pencil for the commas.
Bring a food or cooking magazine to school by Thursday.
Read for 50 minutes this week, and record it on your reading log.
Wednesday’s Homework:
On page 1(dark side), write at least 10 sentences about your assigned
Olympic Sport. We will be using this information to complete our in-class
Unit 3 projects: “Olympic Sports Timelines”. You can use books, magazines,
or online search engines (with parent support) to locate information.
Remember to include the dates with each fact, since we will be creating
a timeline from your findings. Your assigned Olympic sport is on the table
below. 
