PARA ASESOR DE IMPUESTOS
Ya que los
primeros días
de este año se
han pasado…
nos quedan
menos que
50 días para
que se lleven
acabo las elecciones del 1 de
marzo 2016. Como ciudadanos
del Condado Starr, nuestro
compromiso es de participar en
este ejercicio cívico.
Con mucha humildad, les
ofrezco mi candidatura para el
puesto de Asesor y Coleccionista
de Impuestos de Condado.
Este puesto publico no provee
numerosas oportunidades para
ofrecer trabajos o otros tipos de
favores políticos. En realidad,
si uno considera el negocio de
este puesto, nos preguntaríamos
quien se atreve a pedirle al pueblo
el apoyo para ser nombrado
el responsable para asesar y
colectar impuestos al pueblo,
especialmente después de que
acabamos de ser consumidos
por un capitulo devastador en la
historia del gobierno de nuestro
condado. Lo pasado ya esta
en manos de nuestros sistemas
judiciales y dejaremos que estos
sistemas busquen justicia.
Sin embargo, como ciudadanos
de nuestra nación, estado y
comunidad…la
imposición
y pago de impuestos es un
mandato. Pero nosotros, como
buenos ciudadanos esperamos
que nuestros esfuerzos para
pagar nuestros impuestos sean
respetados y protegidos por
nuestros oficiales publicos en
los cuales hemos puesto nuestra
confianza total.
Como su Asesor y Coleccionista
de Impuestos les prometo un
compromiso fuerte de cuidado,
imparcialidad, y integridad
porque seré responsable por sus
impuestos y tarifas que ustedes
esperan lleguen a su debido
lugar. Si el pueblo me elige, habrá
transparencia y contabilidad en
todo asunto oficial de este puesto.

“Miraculous Prayer”
R. G. C.
Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the past I have asked
for favors. This time I ask you this very special one
(mention favor). Take it, Dear Jesus, and place it
within your own heart, where your Father sees it.
Then, in your merciful eyes it will become your
favor, not mine. Amen.
Say this prayer for three days, promise publication
and favor will be granted. Never known to fail.

TO THE VOTERS OF PCT #1
I David Ray Alvarez said
from the beginning that
I would run a “fair” and
“honest” campaign. With
fairness and honesty also
come “reality”. Reality can
sometimes be a shocker,
but people want the truth,
and the facts. I plan on giving the citizens just that. I’ve always been one to call it like I see it, always giving
people my thoughts and feelings to where they could understand where I’m coming from and what I stand
for without any confusion. I’m a hard working man that the hard truth is easier to swallow than a sugar
coated lies. It may be sweeter, but it’s not always better. I’m tired of politicians lies and false promises and
I know you are too!
So I’m not going to be a politician, I’m going to be a leader, not a follower a leader this community
deserves. A leader that won’t battle the citizens with a badge, that won’t be too busy with their personal life
or too politically overwhelmed to be there for the citizens and community in Pct#1.
I’m proud to be from this community and would be humbled to be given the opportunity to protect it.
I will ensure a respectable office that you as a citizen can be proud of.
For far too long it’s been about the so called “good old boys system”. Well, it’s about time we turned this
ship around in the right direction and ask ourselves what can be done for the tax payers. This government
was made by the people, and for the people. Somewhere along the line I think some people have forgotten
that. It’s time to ask the people for their opinion on how they want their constables office to be ran. It’s your
money being spent and your vote that hires and fires. So make sure your constables office is everything you
want it to be to ensure your safety. I’m not going to tell you any lies to get you to vote for me. I’m not going
to promise things I can’t guarantee. I’m going to give the citizens of Pct#1 my word that I will do everything
in my power to ensure your safety and protection in all of Starr County Pct#1 if I’m to be elected constable.
That’s the truth, this I can guarantee. Thank You David Ray Alvarez

Pauraques have incredible camouflage
I seldom use
the
word
“incredible.”
It
means
unbelievable
and I’ve seen
many amazing
things in the
wild. It has to be
extra-extraordinary for me to call it
incredible. Pauraque camouflage
satisfies that criterium.
I’ve been fortunate to have
observed pauraques several times
and their camouflage IS incredible!
I’ve stood many minutes looking at
a small spot where I’ve been told
there’s a pauraque and not seen
it until finally a glimpse of some
feature catches my eye and the bird
suddenly appears. Even binoculars
at 20 feet aren’t much help.
You’ve got to see it first-hand to
comprehend what I’m describing.
Pauraques are members of a
group of birds called nightjars.
They’re nocturnal, feeding on
insects at night.
T h e
common
pauraque,
an all year
resident
here in the
southern tip
of
Texas,
has a range
through
Central and most of South
America. The nightjars you’re
most likely to see are the greater or
lesser nighthawks. Pauraques are
longer, 9 to 11 inches, have large
heads, small bills, broad wings
with rounded tips and a rather long
tail. The tail has a white edging
but you’re not likely to see it.
and commercial development.
They build no nests but simply
lay two pinkish colored eggs in the
leaf litter.
While their population appears
stable, feral dogs and cats are
threats.
I’m delighted to have this
incredible bird as part of the
Valley’s wildlife diversity.
Nighthawks are smaller and
slimmer with pointed wings.
Defining field-marks, if you get
to see them, are a white band near
the wing tip, a buff area behind the
eye and a series of black patches on
the shoulders.
They prefer a habitat of grassy,
lightly wooded areas. Quite
adaptable, they’ll tolerate some
human activity but not clear-cutting
