In the Old Testament, Moses (according to God’s instructions) built a tabernacle or a dwelling for the Ark of the Covenant that held the tablets of the Law. The tabernacle represented God’s throne on earth and was a reflection of the temple of heaven. Today because of God’s generous gift of his presence in the Eucharist, Jesus continues to “tabernacle” (or make his dwelling) with his people on earth. We reserve the Eucharist in the tabernacle, God’s throne on earth. In scripture we find references such as “Behold, the dwelling of God is with men.” Revelations 21:3 Preparing for Christ Advent Study Are we ready for the King? Across the country, work is being done to fight poverty at its roots in places that offer inadequate education, tolerate unaffordable housing, and turn away from communities in need. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is justice and charity in action through the Church. CCHD funds local community groups that work to change the systems that keep them in poverty. Through CCHD and its beneficiaries, we manifest Catholic social teaching and carry out Jesus’ mission to “bring glad tidings to the poor. / to proclaim liberty to captives / and recovery of sight to the blind, / to let the oppressed go free” (Lk 4:18). In the last 10 years, nearly $1,000,000 in grant funding has been distributed to local organizations in our diocese. Your support during the November collection will create lasting change. Defend human dignity. Give to the CCHD Collection. Bishop Burbidge will celebrate the annual Mass for the Deceased Bishops, Priests and Deacons of the Diocese of Raleigh on Tuesday, November 18 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton Grove at 11 AM at the altar in the parish cemetery. The Mass will then conclude with the blessing of the graves of the deceased clergy buried in throughout the parish cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, the Mass will be celebrated in the parish church. LIVING PRAYER Who prays as they ought will endeavor to live as they pray.
