Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Happy New Year 2016!
We have just begun our New Year 2016. Each one of us may have a New Year resolution for ourselves. I
hope that you will continue to pray for and to support your family and our parish with many projects throughout this coming year. Together with Fr. Wayne, Fr. Agustin, Deacon Dong, Sr. Francesca, Mrs. Alvarado,
Staff and Faculty, we wish all of you and your families a very happy, healthy, holy, prosperous and gracefilled New Year 2016. May God the Author of Life keep all of us in His providential care and love and mercy.
Today is the Feast of Epiphany. The Greek word Epiphany means appearance or manifestation. First the angels revealed Jesus to the shepherds. In the Western Church, Epiphany is applied to Jesus’ first appearance to
the Gentiles represented by the Magi while in the Eastern Church, it is the commemoration of the baptism of
Christ where the Father and the Holy Spirit gave combined testimony to Jesus’ identity as Son of God. Later in
the synagogue at Nazareth, Jesus revealed himself as the promised Messiah and at Cana he revealed his divinity by transforming water into wine. These multiple revelations are all suggested and celebrated by the Feast of
the Epiphany. There were three groups of people who reacted to the epiphany of Christ’s birth. The first group
headed by King Herod tried to eliminate him; the second group of priests and scribes ignored him; and, the
third group represented by the shepherds and the magi came to adore him. Let us pray that we belong to the
third group. Through the intercessions of Mary and St. Cecilia, may God reward and bless you all. Amen.

1.God is not indifferent! God cares about mankind! God does not abandon us! At the
beginning of the New Year, I would like to share not only this profound conviction but
also my cordial good wishes for prosperity, peace and the fulfillment of the hopes of
every man and every woman, every family, people and nation throughout the world,
including all Heads of State and Government and all religious leaders. We continue to
trust that 2016 will see us all firmly and confidently engaged, on different levels, in the
pursuit of justice and peace. Peace is both God’s gift and a human achievement. As a gift of God, it is entrusted to all men and women, who are called to attain it.
Maintaining Our Reasons For Hope
2. Sadly, war and terrorism, accompanied by kidnapping, ethnic or religious persecution and the misuse of
power, marked the past year from start to finish. In many parts of the world, these have become so common
as to constitute a real “third world war fought piecemeal”. Yet some events of the year now ending inspire
me, in looking ahead to the new year, to encourage everyone not to lose hope in our human ability to conquer evil and to combat resignation and indifference. They demonstrate our capacity to show solidarity and
to rise above self-interest, apathy and indifference in the face of critical situations.

Spring 2016 Registration
We are a parish ministry that is made up of
moms with kids of all ages. We meet twice a

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
Feliz Año Nuevo 2016!
Estamos empezando un Nuevo Año, 2016. Como parroquia de Santa Cecilia, esperamos que van a continuar
orando y apoyando a nuestra parroquia con muchos proyectos a lo largo de este año. Junto con el padre
Agustín y padre Wayne, les deseamos a todos ustedes y a todas sus familias un feliz Año Nuevo 2016 con
mucha salud y esperanza. Que el Señor el creador de la nueva vida nos cuide y nos proteja.
Hoy es la fiesta de la Epifanía. La palabra griega Epifanía significa Aparición ó Manifestación. En primer
lugar los ángeles revelan el nacimiento de Jesús a los pastores. En la Iglesia de Occidente la Epifanía se aplica
a Jesús como la primera aparición a los Gentiles representados por los Magos, mientras que en la Iglesia de
Oriente, es la conmemoración del Bautismo de Cristo, donde el Padre y el Espíritu Santo dan testimonio de la
identidad de Jesús como Hijo de Dios. Más tarde, en la sinagoga de Nazaret, Jesús se reveló a sí mismo como
el Mesías prometido, y en Cana reveló su divinidad al transformar el agua en vino. Estas múltiples
revelaciones están indicadas y celebradas por la Fiesta de la Epifanía. El Evangelio de hoy nos recuerda que si
Dios permitió Que los Magos – extranjeros y paganos – de reconocer dar a Jesús el debido respeto como Rey
de los Judíos, debemos saber que Dios a pesar de nuestras vidas pecaminosas no dudo en darnos a Jesús. Había

Jesús, La Misericordia y Las Parábolas
¿Cuáles parábolas de misericordia?
Para quien esta familiarizado con la Biblia, “las parábolas de la Misericordia” se remiten a tres relatos en el evangelio de
Lucas 15,1-37: la oveja perdida, la moneda encontrada y el hijo recuperado. En realidad, la misericordia también se muestra en
otras parábolas de Jesús: los dos deudores y su acreedor (Lc 7, 41-43), el buen samaritano (Lc 10, 29-37), el rico y el pobre
Lázaro (Lc 16, 19-31), el juez injusto y la viuda insistente (Lc 18, 2-14), el fariseo y el publicano en el templo (Lc 18, 10-14).
Son ocho las parábolas de Jesús que, desde diversos ángulos, tocan la misericordia en el tercer evangelio. Siete de ellas son
narradas durante el viaje de Jesús hacia Jerusalén (Lc 9, 51-19, 46). Solo la breve parábola sobre los deudores y su acreedor y
su acreedor (Lc 7, 41-43) es narrada durante su predicación en Galilea. Puesto que en Lc el gran viaje es mas interior que
exterior, es necesario reflexionar profundamente sobre la misericordia. La misericordia no es una virtud natural que depende
del carácter de cada quien: no es que aquel que es mas bueno es mas misericordioso que los medas. Se trata, mas bien, de una
disposición interior que madura cuando se esta cerca de Jesús: ¡la misericordia se aprende al seguirlo! Naturalmente no todas
las parábolas de Jesús hablan de la misericordia, ni esta es comunicada solo con las parábolas. En todo caso, las parábolas de
la Misericordia ameritan un espacio aparte: la exhortación a ser misericordiosos como el Padre es misericordioso, es la llave
de acceso.

and go out to Modular Room 1 for their own sharing the Word of God. After the homily, during the

grader. ABLAZE will resume Mon., Jan 11, 2016.
“Teens and Topics” meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday, from 7 - 8:30 pm in the Kuper Center. We
will resume TNT in February, 2016.
Led by 4:12 Leaders, and in the comfortable environment
of the Kuper Center, it’s a chance for the strong Youth of
4:12 to build community and minister to each other. All
High School students are welcome, and all Confirmation
candidates are required to attend at least one meeting
throughout the school year. Our next TNT is Feb. 4,
2016.
“Teen Scripture Study” is new this
year!! Meeting the 2nd and 4th Wednesday, from 7
- 8:30 pm in the Kuper Center. We will resume this
in February, 2016.
Led by Director Tim Reid, with the help of the 4:12
Leadership, this is a new addition to the Ministry this
year. All High School students are welcome, and all
Confirmation candidates are required to attend at least
one meeting. Our next meeting will be Feb. 11, 2016.

tội lỗi của chúng ta để Thiên Chúa không thể đem Chúa Giêsu đến cho nhân loại. Có ba nhóm người đã chống lại việc tỏ
mình của Chúa Giêsu Siáng Sinh cho nhân loại. Nhóm thứ nhất dẫn đầu bởi Vua Hêrôđê ông ta muốn diệt trừ Chúa;
nhóm thứ hai là các tư tế và luật sĩ đã không nhìn nhận Chúa Hài Nhi; nhóm thứ ba là đại diện bởi những kẻ Mục Đồng
và những nhà Ðạo Sĩ đã đến để thờ lạy Người. Khi mừng Lễ Hiển Linh, chúng ta xác tín rằng chúng ta thuộc về nhóm
người thứ ba bằng việc thờ phượng Chúa Giêsu trong thánh lễ với vàng tượng trưng cho lòng mến, nhũ hương tượng
trưng cho sự khiêm hạ, và mộc dược tượng trưng cho sự tôn thờ. Như những nhà Ðạo Sĩ họ đã chọn con đường khác để
trở về quê quán của mình, và gạt bỏ những sự kiêu căng và ích kỷ. Chúng ta hãy trở nên những ánh sao xưa dẫn người
khác về với Chúa như những nhà Ðạo Sĩ khi nhìn thấy ánh sao dẫn họ đến gặp Chúa. Nguyện xin Chúa Hài Nhi ban cho
mỗi người chúng ta ánh sáng tình thương của Ngài để đem nhiều người về với Chúa. Mong lắm thay.

Muốn hưởng ân xá, người tín hữu phải có những 5 điều kiện sau: 1. Xưng tội. 2. Rước lễ. 3. Cầu nguyện
theo ý Đức Giáo Hoàng. 4. Viếng nhà thờ chỉ định trong năm thánh. 5. Điều đòi khác là phải dứt lòng quyến
luyến tội lỗi, dù tội nhẹ (Thành luật, n.7). Việc xưng tội: Có nghĩa là cho đến khi nào ta phạm tội trọng thì
ta mới đi xưng, nếu còn rước lễ được thì không buộc phải xưng. Một lần xưng tội để lãnh nhiều ơn đại xá.
Việc rước lễ và cầu nguyện theo ý Đức Giáo Hoàng phải làm cùng và trong ngày ta lãnh ơn xá (x.Thành luật
n.8). Nghĩa là ta phải đi tham dự thánh lễ và rước lễ trong ngày đó nhưng không nhất thiết là tham dự tại nhà
thờ đó hoặc vào giờ đó. Ta có thể tham dự thánh lễ ở nhà thờ nào cũng được và đi viếng nhà thờ đã được chỉ
định lúc nào trong ngày cũng được. Cầu nguyện theo ý Đức Giáo Hoàng, coi như đầy đủ khi đọc một kinh Lạy
Cha và một kinh kính mừng (x.Thành luật n.10). Khi đi viếng nhà thờ đã được chỉ định để lãnh ân xá, ta sẽ
đọc một kinh Lạy Cha, một kinh Kin kính (x.Thành luật, n.16).
