Are you longing to deepen your relationship with God
and with our faith community? Based on the Gospel
of Luke 24:13-35, the Emmaus retreat provides an
opportunity for women to take a step way from the
hustle and bustle of everyday life, and to walk more
closely with the Lord and their sisters in Christ.
The retreat will be held October 24-26 at MorningStar
Renewal Center (on 124th street, adjacent to the
parish). The cost for the weekend is $170, including

Lecturas Del Dia
PRIMERA LECTURA Isaías 45: 1, 4-6)
Ciro es el rey de Persia que libera al pueblo de Israel de su esclavitud en Babilonia; sin embargo no es
el “salvador”, sino sólo un “instrumento” en las manos de Dios. Isaías deja claro, de forma repetida, que
sólo Dios salva y que él es el único Dios.
SEGUNDA LECTURA (1 Tesalonicenses 1: 1-5)
Pablo recoge en el saludo inicial la fe, la esperanza y el amor. Son las tres virtudes que adornan la vida de todo cristiano.
El anuncio del evangelio y la correspondiente acogida por parte de los nuevos cristianos es fruto de la acción del Espíritu Santo.
EVANGELIO (Mateo 22: 15-21)
Jesús no está al servicio de ningún imperio. Tampoco quiere que le confundan con las distintas variantes políticas que
había en su época. Jesús sólo sirve a Dios con libertad y totalidad, e invita a que todos, viviendo con todas las consecuencias
en medio de este mundo, hagamos los mismo.

Only One Hour
Our Lady adored Jesus from the very first moment of conception through the Holy Spirit in
her womb to the end of her earthly life when she was assumed into Heaven. She continued her earthly
adoration throughout Jesus earthly life. The early Church Fathers wrote that after Jesus ascended
into Heaven, St. John, the beloved Apostle, would have provided the Eucharist for Our Lady as he
cared for her. If Our Lady spent most of her days and nights in Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed
Sacrament can we not as parishioners come face to face with our Creator in the Adoration Chapel?

When Does a Pilgrimage End?
¿Cuándo Termina un Peregrinaje?
Our forty-four pilgrims from Greece
arrived back in Miami last Saturday,
October 11. We ended our journey
where we began– in South Florida.
Yet the real journey was not just over
oceans and continents. The essential
journey of the pilgrim is within, not to
a physical place, but to a new personal
and spiritual place. The value of the pilgrimage to Greece
is not measured in miles logged but personal growth. We
may have come back to Miami, but hopefully we are in a
different spiritual place.
Really all of life is a pilgrimage, not just through space
and time, but in faith and love. We may make certain
journeys to special places– like Greece to learn about
St. Paul, or Israel to explore the Holy Land, or Lourdes
and Fatima to reflect on the Blessed Virgin– yet the real
pilgrimage is the journey of life itself. To complete that
pilgrimage you may not need to move physically far from
home.
Life is a journey of faith. Daily we discover more about
ourselves and God. Life’s twists and turns challenge us
to see Christ in all that we do. We do not journey alone
but in the company of the One who said, “I am the way.’
Life is a journey of hope. We would love to have a
road map for our lives. We might fantasize about divining
the future. But the future remains a mysterious unknown.
We face our futures though with great confidence. We are
not just optimistic, wishing for the best. We are hopefilled believers, expecting God to care for us and lead us.
We do not know what the future holds; but we know Who
holds the future.
Life is a journey of love. Just as surely as Love gave us
life and breath, so too our living in love makes everything
make sense. Whether you travel far and wide or never
leave home, the quality of the love that we share with
others shows how far we have traveled in the journey of
life.
Some of us travel for many years in this world, some for
fewer years. But the length of the journey means less than
the quality of the travel. What make us better persons?
When have we grown the most in self-understanding and
awareness? When have we seen Christ more clearly? We
really are a pilgrim Church, a pilgrim people, seeking out
together the future that the Lord waits for us to discover.
Los cuarenta y cuatro peregrinos de Grecia
regresamos a Miami el sábado 11 de octubre. Terminamos
la jornada donde comenzamos - en el Sur de la Florida.
Aunque la verdadera jornada no fue sobre los oceanos
y los continentes. Lo básico de este peregrinaje está en
nosotros mismos, no en los lugares físicos, sino en un
nuevo lugar personal y espiritual. La valía del peregrinaje
a Grecia no se mide en la millas recorridas sino en el
crecimiento personal. Regresamos a Miami, pero con la
esperanza de una gran mejora espiritual.
Realmente la vida es un peregrinaje, no sólo en
espacio y tiempo, sino en fe y amor. Podemos hacer ciertas
jornadas a lugares especiales - como Grecia para aprender
sobre San Pablo, o Israel para explorar la Tierra Santa,
o Lourdes y Fátima para reflexionar sobre la Santísima
Virgen - pero el verdadero peregrinaje es nuestro caminar
en la vida. Para cumplir con ese peregrinaje posiblemente
no tengamos que salir físicamente de la casa.
La vida es un camino de fe.
Diariamente
descubrimos más sobre nosotros y sobre Dios. Los
dobleces de la vida nos retan a ver a Cristo en todo lo que
hacemos. Nosotros no hacemos el camino solos sino en
la compañía de Aquel que dijo “Yo soy el camino”.
La vida es un camino de esperanza. Nos
encantaría tener un mapa de camino para nuestra vida.
Podemos fantasiar adivinando nuestro futuro. Pero el
futuro continúa siendo un misterio incierto. Confrontamos
nuestro futuro llenos de gran confianza. No sólo somos
optimistas, deseamos lo mejor. Somos creyentes llenos
de esperanza, esperando que Dios cuide de nosotros y nos
guíe. No sabemos lo que el futuro nos tiene deparados;
pero sabemos Quién controla el futuro.
La vida es un camino de amor. Así como el Amor
nos dio vida y aliento, así también viviendo en amor hace
que todo tenga sentido. Viaje usted lejos o que nunca
salga de su casa, la calidad de amor que compartimos con
los demás demuestra cuan lejos hemos viajado en nuestra
vida.
Algunos de nosotros hemos viajado por muchos
años en este mundo, algunos por menos años. Pero la
extensión de la jornada significa menos que la calidad
del viaje. ¿Qué es lo que nos hace mejores personas?
¿Cuanto hemos crecido en comprención y conocimiento?
¿Cuando hemos visto a Cristo más cerca? Realmente
somos una Iglesia peregrina, personas peregrinas, juntos
buscando el futuro que el Señor nos tiene para descurir.
