Warren, Director Sharon Jordan Plant Manager Orasio Ramon Plant Assistants Joshua Carmona Marty Derosier Maria Galarza Today I will celebrate Mass in Lourdes, France. Lourdes is the place where the sick are received and are treated as very special people. They are given many privileges. Many come to Lourdes to be healed physically. For some this does not happen; rather, they are cured spiritually of mind and soul. They learn the importance of suffering and how suffering can lead us to a closer union with God. Mary, our mother, shows us the way to her son. “Avoid the melodrama and self-pity over minor problems in life,” Pope Francis said in a homily last month. “Instead, use life's inevitable difficulties to pray for strength and pray for those who are suffering real tragedy. Our life is too easy, our complaints are melodramatic complaints compared to the many people suffering from debilitating disease, hunger and persecution. When people experience hardship, they may be plagued by doubt; even Jesus on the cross asked God, ‘Why have you forsaken me?’” The pope said that when people talk to him about their difficult or painful situation he encourages them to keep asking God, "Why?" “Because this, too, is a prayer…Real prayer involves being absolutely honest before God about one's thoughts and feelings. Real prayer comes from the heart, out of the moments one is living." People turn to prayer "… in times of darkness, when there is no hope in life, when you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel....” The great miracle of Lourdes today helps people who have prayed from the depths of their heart to come out of the darkness of their infirmities and see the light of God’s presence in their lives. On the other hand the pope warns us that some people are “not sick, not hungry, without pressing needs; when there's a little darkness in the soul we think we’re martyrs and we stop praying. Someone might say, ‘I'm angry with God. I'm not going to Mass anymore!’ But why? For such a little thing.” And he continued, "Prepare your heart" for the inevitable moments of darkness, and “Pray as the church prays, pray with the church for so many brothers and sisters who suffer in exile from themselves, who are in darkness and suffering, without any hope at hand.” Lourdes is a place of hope. Being faithful to participation in the Eucharist, the great prayer of the Church, gives all, when praying from the depths of their hearts, a place of hope, a place of light in the darkness of their souls. A word of appreciation goes out to members of the Parish who participated in St. Vincent de Paul’s first “Walk for Poor.” This was a good lesson for our young people to help the poor. Hopefully, they now appreciate the many gifts God has given them and not to take them for granted. Thanks also to the Bingo volunteers who are faithful in helping the Parish; Bingo just celebrated its 4th birthday. I am praying at the Grotto of Lourdes for the Parish; be assured that your petitions have been placed in the Grotto. Yours in Christ, Father John St. Anne Catholic Church, October 12, 2014 Page 2 MEETINGS/EVENTS SATURDAY 11 SUNDAY 12 10:00 a.m. 9:00 a.m. 5:30 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. >>>>>> >>>>>> 8:20 a.m. 8:30 a.m. 10:00 a.m. 1:30 p.m. 6:15 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Grief Recovery (FFC 5) Friends of the Poor Walk Respect Life Rosary (CY) English Class (FFC 9) AA (FFC 10, 11) Egg Rolls Sale (GZ) Blood Pressure Clinic (SJH) Adult RCIA (CR) Elem FF & Mass (FFA, FFC, CH) MS/HS Mass & FF (CH, FFA) Mass & RCIA for Children/Teens (CH, FFC) Respect Life Rosary (CY) Cub Scouts (FFA) Boy Scouts (FFC 4, 5) Emmaus Men’s Retreat (SJH) 7:00 p.m. AA (SJH) 9:00 a.m. 9:30 a.m. 6:30 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 9:00 a.m. 9:30 a.m. 6:30 p.m. 8:15 p.m. Nurse Office Hours (FFA 5) Spanish Kateri Group (FFC 4, 5) ConfirmaƟon Prep (SJH) Adult RCIA (FFC 4, 5 ) Spanish RCIA (FFC 6) MDS (FFC 7) Al-Anon (FFC 8, 9) AA (FFC 10, 11) Rosary & Prayer Shawls (FFC 5) Bible4Tots (FFC 1) Bingo 4th Anniversary (SJH) NA (FFC 4, 5) >>>>>>> St. IgnaƟus of AnƟoch 10:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 8:20 a.m. 8:30 a.m. 9:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m. Grief Recovery (FFC 5) English Class (FFC 9) AA (FFC 10, 11) Adult RCIA (CR) Elem FF & Mass (FFA, FFC, CH) Respect Life Rosary (CY) MS/HS Mass & FF (CH, FFA) Mass & RCIA for Children/Teens (CH, FFC) English BapƟsms (CH) Spanish BapƟsms (CH) 10:00 a.m. MONDAY 13 TUESDAY 14 WEDNESDAY 15 THURSDAY 16 FRIDAY 17 SATURDAY 18 SUNDAY 19 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. 1:30 a.m. CH-Church, CY-Courtyard, SJH-St. Joachim Hall, GZ-Gazebo, FFA-Faith FormaƟon Annex, FFC-Faith FormaƟon Center, CR-Conference Rm Remember loved ones with Mass Intentions, Altar Flowers, or the Sanctuary Lamp.
