We are Called to be the Eyes and Hands and Hear of the Risen Jesus.
pastor’s note
And so I take the Lord’s hand and take what I have
to face…sometimes with none but the Lord who
understands how hard it is. And I just hold on to him.
(The Little Black Book, March 20, 2015)
In this procession we are to
see much more than a mimetic
reminder; we are to see the
ascent of God’s people, and our
own ascent, with Jesus to the
sacrifice. Moreover, although the
procession recalls Christ’s triumph
at Jerusalem, it leads us here and
now to the sacrifice of the Cross
as rendered present in the sacrifice of the Mass that
is soon to be celebrated. If we were to see in the
procession only a crowd waving palms and singing
joyous songs, we would miss its real significance in the
Roman liturgy. That liturgy looks upon the procession
not simply as a commemoration of Christ’s entry into
Jerusalem nor simply as a triumphal march, but as
Christ’s journey, together with his people, to Calvary
and the great central act of redemption.

Palm Sunday, the first act of Holy Week, is perhaps
the part of Holy Week that most sticks in the minds
of simple people; sometimes there is even a certain
amount of superstition mixed in with the celebration.
Yet the rich content of the texts, and the frequent
opportunities the pastor has of explaining them, can
offset errors, and the faithful can be brought to a proper
understanding of the paschal mystery that is now to be
celebrated for us once again in a solemn manner. (The
Liturgical Year, Vol. 2, Lent, pg. 195)

ADMINISTRATION
EASTER MORNING PARKING
The shouted response of this crowd-become-a-mob is
chilling. The word “crucify” comes like a thunderbolt.
To accommodate a large number of cars expected for our
9:00 am and 11:00 am Easter Masses:
This is the first time in Luke’s Gospel that this horrible
word appears in any form – and not once, but twice:
“Crucify him! Crucify him!”
•
•
It was already clear that the crowd wanted to kill him.
But does it have to be this way – a tortured, crude,
cruel death by crucifixion?
•
•
The cross comes into my life in many forms. But
the cross, different for each person, is when I say:
“Anything but that.” I cry from the depth of my soul,
“O Lord, anything but that…anything!”
Please carpool and share a ride with someone when
possible.
Overflow parking is available on the northeast corner
of Cornell and Saltzman Roads, on the lower level of
the parking lot beneath the Cedar Mill Library.
A small amount of parking is also available at
Village Day Care on 123rd Street.
If you arrive early and would enjoy a walk, parking
in one of these lots would be appreciated.
For these two Masses the church will provide traffic
control police at both the Saltzman Road and 123rd
Street entrances to the church, as well as having traffic
control staff in our parking lot. We hope to make your
experience of parking as comfortable as possible with
the limited amount of space that we have. Thank you for
your patience.
Sometimes I get the same answer Jesus got.

a Jerusalén.
a través de ella podremos un día alcanzar la Vida Eterna;

hubiera resucitado, vana sería nuestra Fe (1 Cor. 15,14).
Jesucristo. ALELUYA.
