MINISTRY TO THE SICK & HOMEBOUND
Call the parish office to make arrangements to administer this
sacrament for one who is sick or homebound or in the hospital.
The Parish Priests visit the sick & homebound and administer
the Holy Eucharist, the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the
sacrament of the sick on the First Friday of the month.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound on weekends.

MATRIMONIO
Call the parish office and make an appointment with one of the
parish priests for the required preparations and to set the wedding date. Ordinarily preparations will take at least six months.
QUINCEAÑERAS
Call one of the parish priests to make an appointment to set the
quinceañera date. The quinceañera is expected to have received
all three Sacraments of initiation. Baptism, Holy Communion
and Confirmation. The family is expected to be registered and
worship in the parish. Preparations will take at least six months.

FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT
FROM THE DESK OF THE PASTOR:
Prophet Jeremiah lived 600 years before the birth of Jesus Christ. God
sends him on a mission to conscientize and make the people of Israel
aware how far they have strayed from God living on the edge of their
self destruction. Centuries of wanton idolatry and corruption had seriously demoralized them. They were morally bankrupt. But that God
could and would save them and help avoid that disaster. That unless
they listen to God’s counsel, they would not escape the inevitable:
That Babylonians would invade their land and destroy them. As expected they not only ignored Jeremiah’s unpalatable warning, they
accused him of treason and punished him.
Today’s first reading comes shortly before the Babylonian invasion.
God speaks through Jeremiah that he is disappointed with his people
who have continually violated the covenant they made with God at Mt.
Sinai, a covenant Moses sealed with blood. In spite of their unfaithfulness, God still loves them and would make a new covenant with them.
A covenant is an agreement between two parties. Six hundred years
later, Jesus uses the words “new covenant” when he gave the cup of his
blood to his apostles at the last supper. In anticipation of the sacrificial
and sacramental offering of himself on the Cross, He instituted the
Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. We renew that covenant every time we
come for Mass.
In Jeremiah and John, emerge the specifications of this new covenant.
“The new covenant becomes in fact, what the former was in theory” (Fahey, Footprints on the Mountain, 227). This new covenant promises
a personal relationship with God to a responsive people so that “their
hearts will learn and respond to God directly”. (Fahey, 226)
We walk under the gentle shadow of a personal covenant with Jesus,
sealed by his suffering death and resurrection. In Jesus we learn how
suffering is redemptive. Jesus teaches us acceptance of the way of the
Cross. The Cross of suffering spares no one: either in the form of a
difficult flaw or sin, seemingly incapable of stopping; for others it may
be the pain of failed relationship, or loss of a dream unfulfilled.
Jesus’ call to discipleship demands from us a response of Faith, a similar total gift of oneself in the purest love, since this alone corresponds
to the gift He makes of Himself to us.
Jesus offered his own life and died so that we might have life, the grain
of wheat that is crushed and made into bread that feeds us.
Faith then makes it possible to follow Jesus through his agony, betrayal, torture, trial, humiliation, rejection and crucifixion; because Faith
perceives his glory and the glorification of his Father’s name in his
passion and death. His glory manifests God’s love for us. He then is
able to draw all people freely to Himself, transform our lives and make
them the most compelling evidence of his love.

Holy Week Monday, March 30th at 6:30 pm in the Par ish Hall
Join us to commemorate God’s deliverance of his people from sin
and death at this Seder Meal. We shall Proclaim the Word of God,
Break br ead and Give thanks to God.
Jesus builds on this Jewish tradition at his Last Supper when He confects the Holy Eucharist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

FIXING GOD’S HOUSE
We: Gratefully remember the Past,
Celebrate the Present and Embrace the Future!
Please do not forget our commitment to maintain
this legacy with integrity and loving devotion, so
that we can hand it (the Church of All Souls) down with utmost joy and pride to our younger generation.
The ‘on-going Campaign for “FIXING GOD’S HOUSE” on the
repairs and maintenance continues. Thank you for your support and generosity.
“Fixing the Exterior Steel doors” of our Church. Four Brand
new sets of seamless metal exterior doors have been installed.
Now we need to treat-protect these metal surfaces of the doors
with matching non corrosive paint. The initial total estimated
cost was $ 50,000.00.
The next immediate project being worked upon is the Brand
new Restrooms in the Parish Hall. It will consist of a handicapped unisex restroom, three toilets and sinks for ‘women’s”
and one restroom with two urinals and sinks for ‘mens’ section.
The Building Department of the City of So.S.F. has approved the
architectural drawings and the necessary building permit has
been issued. A contractor has been appointed from among those
who sent in their bids. The construction of the said project is
expected to begin soon. The estimated cost is $204,164.00

As of today, we have received a total of $ 501,658.37. As per the
last financial report we spent $ 395,086.07.
ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL OF 2015
Each year our Archbishop requests our help to support
him to operate the central Archdiocesan offices in order
to coordinate and administrate resources for various
parishes in the Archdiocese.
The cost of this endeavor is distributed among parishes
in our three counties of San Mateo, San Francisco and
Marin. Our share of the cost this new year is $
47,900.00.
We thank all who have generously contributed in the
past and urge you, to please join in our efforts to help
reach our goal this year.

CHURCH CLEANING
Easter will be here very, very shortly. Our church needs to be
made ready. Come, help tidy it up for this holy day. It needs to be
dusted, swept and prepared for Christ’s Resurrection. We MUST
get busy and clean. Please set aside the morning of Saturday,
April 4th at 8;30 am and come in to assist with var ious
chores. Let us try to do the job in two hours. Do you have any
cleaning cloths, broom, dustpans or other cleaning supplies you
prefer to use? Please bring them with you. Also, if you like, pick
up/bring an EASTER LILY to decorate the altar.

QUINTO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA
Reflexiones del Párroco:
El Profeta Jeremías vivió 600 años antes del nacimiento de Jesucristo.
Dios lo envío a una misión para educar y hacer al pueblo de Israel
consciente de cuánto se habían apartado de Dios viviendo al borde de
su propia destrucción. Siglos de idolatría sin sentido y corrupción los
había seriamente desmoralizado. Estaban hundidos moralmente. Pero
que Dios podía e iba a salvarlos y ayudar a evitar ese desastre. A menos que escucharan el consejo de Dios, no se escaparían de lo inevitable: Los Babilonios invadirían sus tierras y los destruirían. Como era
de esperarse no sólo ignoraron la advertencia desagradable de Jeremías, pero lo acusaron de traición y lo castigaron.
La primera lectura de hoy viene un poco antes de la invasión Babilónica. Dios habla a través de Jeremías que está decepcionado con Su gente que continuamente ha violado el pacto que hicieron con Dios en el
Monte Sinaí, un pacto que Moisés selló con sangre. A pesar de su infidelidad, Dios aún los ama y haría un nuevo pacto con ellos.
Un pacto es un acuerdo entre dos partes. Seiscientos años más tarde,
Jesús utiliza las palabras "nuevo pacto" cuando dio el cáliz de su sangre a sus apóstoles en la última cena. En anticipación del sacrificial y
sacramental ofertorio de sí mismo en la Cruz, instituyó el Sagrado
Sacrificio de la Misa. Renovamos ese pacto cada vez que venimos a
Misa.
En Jeremías y Juan, surgen las especificaciones de este nuevo pacto.
"El nuevo pacto en realidad, se convierte en lo que fue el anterior en
teoría" (Fahey, Huellas en la Montaña, 227). Este nuevo pacto promete
una relación personal con Dios a un pueblo sensible para que "sus
corazones aprendan y respondan a Dios directamente". (Fahey, 226)
Caminamos bajo la sombra suave de un pacto personal con Jesús, sellado por su sufrida muerte y resurrección. En Jesús aprendemos como
el sufrimiento es redentor. Jesús nos enseña aceptación al camino de la
Cruz. La Cruz del sufrimiento no prescinde de nadie: ya sea en forma
de un defecto difícil o pecado, aparentemente incapaz de parar; para
otros puede ser el dolor de una relación fracasada, o la pérdida de un
sueño incumplido.
La llamada de Jesús al discipulado exige de nosotros una respuesta de
Fe, un regalo total similar de uno mismo en el más puro amor, ya que
solo esto corresponde con el regalo que Él hace de sí mismo para nosotros.
Jesús ofreció su propia vida y murió para que podamos tener vida, el
grano de trigo que es aplastado y convertido en pan que nos alimenta.
La Fe entonces hace posible el seguir a Jesús a través de su agonía,
traición, tortura, juicio, humillación, rechazo y crucifixión; porque la
Fe percibe su gloria y la glorificación del nombre de Su Padre en su
pasión y muerte. Su gloria manifiesta el amor de Dios para nosotros.
Entonces es capaz de llevar a todas las personas libremente a sí mismo, transforma nuestras vidas y lo hace la evidencia más convincente
de su amor.

ARREGLANDO LA CASA DE DIOS

orgullo a la generación que viene.
La ‘Campaña para Arreglar la Casa de Dios” continúa en la reparación y el mantenimiento. Gracias a ustedes por su apoyo y
generosidad.
“Arreglar las Puertas de Acero” del Templo. Cuatro pares de
puertas exteriores nuevas de acero han sido instaladas. Ahora
necesitamos proteger-tratar la superficie de metal de estas
puertas con pintura no corrosiva. El costo estimado inicialmente fue de $50,000.00.
El próximo proyecto inmediato siendo planificando es la de los
nuevos baños en el salón parroquial. Consistirá de un baño para
discapacitados unisex, tres inodoros y lavamanos para mujeres
y un baño con dos urinarios para los hombres.
Los dibujos han sido aprobados por el Departamento de Edificación de Sur S.F. y el permiso se ha tramitado. Un contratista
ha sido nombrado de aquellos que mandaron su propuesta. La
construcción de tal proyecto se espera que comience pronto.

APELACIÓN ANUAL DEL ARZOBISPO DEL 2015
Cada año nuestro Arzobispo pide nuestra ayuda para apoyarlo

El costo de este esfuerzo se distribuye entre parroquias en
