Today, we will look at some different things we might do to help make the Lenten
season one of renewal for us.
1. During the Lenten season, we must abstain from eating meat on Fridays. Serving
a meatless meal is meant to promote sacrifice. So, let’s not eat lobster or one of
your favorite meatless meals on Fridays during Lent! Create a simple meal that will
show a bit of self-denial.
2. During Lent, try to focus on others by avoiding the use of “I” or “me”. Perhaps,
when you find yourself to be self-centered during Lent, you could make a donation
to the poor boxes at Church.
3. Keep your Bible, rosary or other prayer books somewhere that will remind you to
spend some time reading about Our Lord’s teachings and Pray, every day.
4. Give away three or more unneeded things each week for the rest of Lent to
someone, or an Agency that will put the items to good use. As an added bonus,
when Easter arrives, your house will be cleaned out.
5. Spend some time in silence during Lent. Turn off the television, radio, computer
and cell phone. Just try being with and talking to God.
6. Look ahead to your calendar and reserve the Triduum dates—Holy Thursday,
Good Friday, Easter Vigil. Set aside the time to participate in the activities our
parish is planning.
7. Who do you “love the least” right now? Let us spend this day praying for our
least favorite person and the grace to love him or her.
8. Loving your neighbors requires a choice to reach out to them with compassion.
Take a moment today to do a kindness for a shut-in or lonely person in your
neighborhood.
9. Like Mary, say yes in some new way during Lent to God’s will.
10. When we whine, the world looks dark. Put an imaginary piece of duct tape over
your mouth and try not to complain during Lent and always.
11. Consider your use of money today. Do you share with the poor? What would
Jesus do?

TRANSFORMATION OR RENEWAL?
Lent is an opportunity for transformation not only as a season in the
Church, but also in the lives of each member. This story of the
Transfiguration we read today is an inspiration to wish be one of those
witnesses at the side of Jesus. The Apostles didn’t understand at their
time. Nor did they understand the reference to Jesus rising from the dead –
the ultimate transformation that was to come. It is something that is above time or space. .
Some people follow the Lord, but do not allow themselves to be touched by Him, or even
do not want to experience something like this. They made up their own agenda,
spirituality, religion... The relationship with God is like a seduction that grows time by
time always pursuing the Beloved. " O Lord, you have deceived me, and I was deceived;
you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed." (Jer 20.7). Do not let yourself to be
charmed and fooled by what is vain ... but put your eyes and your heart on what is
Eternal!
The disciples who experienced the transfiguration of Jesus had come down from the
mountain and are getting back to normality. God wants us to be his witnesses in the
WORLD: believe and know that God has destined us to great things.
How can we transform ourselves during Lent? What do we have to do to turn ourselves
from sin, the part of ourselves that pulls away from God? We believe and know that God
has destined great things for us. We say
that the transfiguration prepared In our
worst moments of pain may we not think
negatively
but
remember
the
encouragement we receive in Sacred
Scripture and that God has destined the
glory of the transfiguration for each of us
in the next life. Abraham is a good
example of endurance. We have always
the victory if we believe in Him.
Hold on to what it is worth, and
remember God gives you power through the Spirit so you can change what you can, and be
happy according to his will. LENT as a time of renewal recognized by the ability we have
to be and to do better, to give more. The disciples could not exorcise the demon, because
of their lack of faith, but we with the power of God, will be able to transform our lives and
to outcast evil.
When we live in the divine, then we begin to appreciate what we are and what we have.
When I realize who I am, then I want my wife to be happier, my husband to succeed, my
children to be protected. The Church is the place where not only you seek God, but where
together you may feel a member of one of the most important communities, the body of
Christ, which is always under the mantle of Our Lady of the Angeles.
God bless you,
Fr. Cesar Rubiano

IL SIGNIFICATO DEL NOSTRO
ASCOLTATE E SEGUITE
“Questo e’ il mio amato Figlio.
Ascoltatelo.” E lo ascoltarono. Da
quel momento, Pietro, Giacomo e
Giovanni furono ardenti seguaci, abbandonando
ST. IGNATIUS LOYOLA:
Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve; To give and
not to count the cost; To fight and not to heed the
wounds; To toil and not to seek for rest; To labor
and not to ask for reward; Save that of knowing that
I do your will.
FOOD FOR THE NEEDY

READING OF THE DAY
LISTEN AND FOLLOW
“This is my beloved Son.
Listen to him.” And listen they did.
From that moment on, Peter,
James, and John were ardent
followers, forsaking everything to
follow in their Master’s footsteps. Like the psalmist
crying, “O Lord, I am your servant,” the three
disciples committed themselves to lives of
incredible hardship and indescribable joy. After
that day on the mountain, they never again wavered
in their chosen vocation.
Though our tests may not be as severe as
Abraham’s and our peak experiences not as
dramatic as the Transfiguration, we all face the
daily challenges of walking “before the Lord in the
land of the living.” As we follow our varied calls to
love and serve, let’s be comforted by Paul’s
reminder to the Romans: “If God is for us, who can
be against us?”
Reading: Genesis 22:1-2; Second Reading:
Romans 8:31b-34; Gospel: Mark 9:2-10
Abraham offers the ultimate sacrifice of
thanksgiving, the gift of his very son. This
sacrifice prefigures the sacrifice of Jesus who
died for us all. In his transfiguration, Jesus
discloses a suffering messiahship. From ORDO

TRANSFORMARSE O RENOVARSE?
No
“Me sedujiste Señor, y me deje seducir” (Jer 20,7). No te dejes
grandes cosas.
Hermanos y hermanas, no cantemos
victoria. Después de la transfiguración
viene el escándalo de la cruz. A veces
nuestros peores momentos de dolor,
empañan el gozo y la alegría
precedentes.
Vuelvo a decirlo.

ESCUCHA Y SIGUE
“Este
es
mi
Hijo
amado;
escúchenlo”. Y sí que lo escucharon.
Desde ese momento, Pedro, Santiago y
Juan fueron sus ardientes seguidores, desechándolo
todo para seguir las huellas del Maestro. Tal como
proclama el salmista, “Señor, he aquí tu servidor”,
Aunque nuestras pruebas no sean tan severas
Mientras seguimos nuestros diversos llamados a

11.
Considere su uso del dinero hoy. ¿Compartes
con los pobres? ¿Qué haría Jesús?
