HISTORY
AFTER THE SECOND WORLD WAR, FOUNDER AND MASTER WOOD CARVER FRANK
HUDSON LEAD A TEAM OF CRAFTSMEN REPAIRING HISTORIC CARVINGS ON BOMB
DAMAGED BUILDINGS IN LONDON.
With his son Rex, they formed Frank Hudson
Company in 1947 and the business has been making
fine furniture ever since, with his own sons Tim, James
and Tom still working for the company today.

ownership of Gallery Direct and Frank Hudson’s
grandsons are strongly involved in keeping the proud
heritage alive today.
With three generations of expert craftsmen going
before them, the Hudson family’s history with wood
goes back to 1850 where their forefathers were French
polishers, chair makers and wheelwrights.
The old factory site is now home to Frank Hudson’s
furniture showrooms and design prototypes are
constantly being created in the workshops. One of the
oldest surviving chair factories in High Wycombe, the
showroom was once a well-known location renowned
for making the famous Windsor chairs.
With this fantastic history comes a wealth of
experience used to design and produce a stunning

Our products are all produced overseas to the highest
standards, using traditional skills to create wonderful
constructional details. Intricate dovetail jointing is a joy
to see when opening a drawer and beautiful marquetry
inlays are created using the finest selected veneers.
No cabinet would be complete without a Frank Hudson
handle, produced with the traditional lost wax method
used to create the mould. This process is used on only the
finest handle creations and it is these details, along with
the Frank Hudson hinges and magnets that set us apart.
Our team of highly skilled craftsmen also use the precise
art of polishing using hand antiquing and finishing
techniques, with future generations learning the skills
needed to take them from apprentice to master craftsman.
All our timber is checked for compliance through
rigorous assurance procedures to ensure we preserve the
valuable resource of wood for future generations.

Available in a five-foot mattress size, Annecy comes
in two finishes including a soft grey that is made
using the finest quality mahogany and a dry-brushed,

THIS CLASSIC LOUIS XV STYLE BED IS AVAILABLE IN TWO FINISHES, ANTIQUE BLONDE
AND CHARCOAL. BOTH FINISHES ARE A HAND-APPLIED STAIN TO BRING OUT THE
SOFT TONES OF THE GRAIN AND BEAUTIFUL HAND CARVINGS.
The charcoal finish is made using Mindy ash and the
blonde antique finish bed is made using fine quality
mahogany. The Louis beds have hand-woven cane
inset and are beautifully carved from hand by skilled
craftsmen. The Louis beds are supported by a bedside
cabinet with two drawers, that appear to be three.
Solid wood hand-cut dovetail joints and hand cast
handles finish this classic look.

and hand-cut dovetail drawers make this collection

CRAFTSMEN.
Made from Mindy ash, the marvellous Spire dining
collection consists of two table sizes, one to sit eight
people and one that sits up to ten people for larger
celebrations. The dining collection includes a
selection of cabinets and occasional pieces that are
all finished in a light antiqued hand wax finish. All the
drawers are dovetail jointed and the hand-cast shoes
and handles give an elegant finishing touch to the
delightful Spire range.
