THANK YOU The Caldwell family would like to convey their sincere thanks to Carnmoney congregation members and staff who helped them through the last week organising the funeral for their beloved son and brother Peter following his sudden death. We especially would like to thank Michael for taking both the service at home and in Roselawn and for being there to help us through the tough days before the funeral, such a wonderful service, a very fitting tribute to Peter’s life. Also Jean Pillar whose support we have come to rely on so often over the last number of years and whom we are thankful to for her support through this entire week. Joe Cooper ELECTION OF NEW ELDERS – NOMINATION PROCESS We are seeking to appoint six new elders to the Kirk Session. Voting members are invited to submit nominations for the post. In due course the congregation will be asked to select six individuals from the list of nominees. Here is what you need you to do: • • • A Voting member may nominate one person whose name is on the Voters List You must have the nominee’s permission to submit their name before you return the form Completed nomination forms may be returned either today or 8 February Please pray about this matter and consider carefully the issues covered in the recent “Leadership – Why, How, Who” series before approaching someone and submitting their name. PARENTING COURSE The Parenting Children Course will be held in Carnmoney Church commencing Monday 23 February and every Monday night until 23 March from 7.00pm - 9.30pm. The Course is for any parent or carer of children, whether they consider themselves to have strong parenting skills or are struggling. The practical tools of the Course are applicable to everyone who has responsibility for a child or children from birth up to the age of 10 years. Titles of the weekly DVDs are: • • • • Building Strong Foundations. Setting Boundaries. Teaching Healthy Relationships. Our long term aim. CONGREGATIONAL COMMITTEE MEETING A meeting of the full Congregational Committee will be held on Tuesday, 10 February at the later time of 8.00pm in the Session Room. This is to facilitate a meeting of the Kirk Session at 7.30pm. The agenda etc is being emailed to members and spare copies will be available at the meeting. THE 2015 FUSION WEEKEND will be held at Whitemark Bay Youth Hostel from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th March. There will be a packed programme filled with games, challenges, outdoor activities, food and group sessions. On 17 March 2014 an historic agreement was signed by the Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches, with the full backing of Archbishop Justin Welby and Pope Francis, to combat slavery and human trafficking. This is the first time since the Reformation that the Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches have united together on a project of world-wide import. Human trafficking is a scourge which affects approximately 29 million people worldwide, not only far away but also here in Northern Ireland. As a topic of interest and concern to Christians of all denominations this evening will have input from representatives of Tearfund, Trócaire and Stop the Traffik, all of which are involved in different ways, at home and abroad, in the fight against human trafficking.
