D
o you ever wonder why Keller ISD makes certain
decisions? Do you wonder who is in charge around
here? I highly recommend the Keller ISD Community
Ambassadors program that I participated in last year. It is
a great way to learn about Keller ISD and meet district
administrators, board members and other community
members. KMS PTA would love to have some KMS parents
represented in this spring's class. If you have any questions,
please let me know!
Be looking for communications from KMS PTA in the next
month or so! We are gearing up for our Get Your Glow On!
student event and will need your help. If you signed up to
be a volunteer, you should receive an email with a link. You
can also check the KMS PTA Facebook page and our
newsletter for more information.
Encourage your students to attend the event on Friday,
February 20th from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Our Special Projects
committee has been hard at work planning this fun event
for our Comanches! Get your glow on!!
Our next PTA general body meeting will follow our
executive board meeting on February 19th at about
10:00am in room 111. We look forward to seeing you
there!
Regards,
Julie Nors

It's almost time Comanches! Break out your whitest and brightest digs and get ready to
GET YOUR GLOW ON at our student glow party! There will be Zorb balls, photo booths,
dodge ball, a graffiti wall, and more!
Students can reserve a spot at the event by signing up and paying at the PTA table on
February 5th and 6th during their lunch period in the cafeteria. Admission cost is $5.00
before the event and increases to $7.00 at the door on event night.
PARENTS - we need your help in order to make the night a success! Please consider
volunteering at this event. Slots are in ONE HOUR blocks and signing up is EASY through
Sign Up Genius! Volunteers must have a completed background check on file with KISD
from this school year.
For questions regarding this event, please contact Christine Itzkowitz or Becky Gaubert.

iGraduate — Work In Progress
K
MS Counselors are working diligently with our 8th
grade students making a rough draft plan for High
School. The students have been developing this plan
on paper prior to the Winter Break.
In the coming weeks students and parents will have
the opportunity to input this information into Home
Access Center. Students will be provided time during
Comanche Pride to complete this and it will be open for parents to review from home.
Finally, the students will begin making course selections for their freshman year through
HAC during and after a visit from our KHS Counselors in February. Make sure to talk to
your 8th grader about these exciting plans!
7th Grade Hearing & Vision Screening
A
ll 7th graders along with any new KMS 8th graders will have hearing /
vision screenings during Comanche Pride classes on Wednesday,
January 21st or Thursday January 22nd.
If at all possible, please make sure your student is in attendance during
his/her Comanche Pride class on these days.
PARENTS - the nurse needs EIGHT volunteers to help move students in and
out of the clinic. Time slots are 8:00-11:30am and 12:30-3:40pm each day
and 2 people per time slot are needed. Please contact Kelly Kubik if you
are able to help. Your time would be greatly appreciated and help the nurse tremendously.
Last Call for Yearbooks
T
he phrase “I missed the deadline” is not likely to be uttered by
Comanche parents when it comes to ordering a yearbook (at
least I hope not).
This is the LAST CALL to order your 2014-15 yearbooks. The cost is
now $40 and the last day to order a copy is January 30.
To order, please use the preferred method of purchasing your copy
online or return the order form with your payment to the KMS
office.

8th Grade Field Trip - Perot Museum
A
ll KMS 8th grade students are invited to
attend a field trip to the Perot Museum
on Tuesday, February 17th from
10:00am-2:30pm.
A parent permission slip is needed for every
student attending the field trip. Signed
permission slips are due by Friday, January
30, 2015 to your student’s science teacher.
There is no admission cost to students or chaperones, however, chaperones must provide
their own transportation to and from the museum and are required to pay for their own
parking. The cost is $8.00 per vehicle. Please review the parking information if you plan
to chaperone.
All students are required to ride on the bus to AND from the museum. Chaperones will
not be permitted to sign-out any student while at the museum; you must return to KMS
first before you can sign-out a student.
Parents that are interested in chaperoning should complete the chaperone form and
return it to their student’s science teacher with the parent permission slip ASAP; however,
only those who have already completed a background check will be allowed as we have
passed the deadline to submit a background check.
Chaperones must understand that they are there to help to supervise a group of students
therefore, they may not bring any siblings or other children with them on this trip. Your
child will be included in the group you are supervising but requests for other
parent/student pairings in your group cannot be accommodated.
Students should bring a sack lunch and drink in a labeled, plastic disposable bag.
Additionally, students do not need to bring any money for souvenirs as there will not be
time allotted to visit the gift store.
For questions in regards to this field trip, please contact Michael Le or 817-744-2900.
