CIRCULAR MINUTE NO: EST/ ART /06/2015
The content of this circular Minute must be brought to the notice of all eligible Officers and
employees on your establishment including those in Regional/ District Offices. Institution
must notify all candidates who qualify for the post in this circular minute even if they are
absent from their normal places of work.
Direction to candidates:1. The following documents must be submitted:
a) Application for employment form (Z83), which is obtainable at any government
department.
b) Certified copies of highest Educational qualifications Apprenticeship Contract,
Trade Test Certificate copies of certified copy will not be accepted.
c) Curriculum Vitae.
d) Certified copy of ID document & Driver’s License.
2. The reference number must be indicated in the column provided on the form Z83.
e.g. reference EST /ART/ 06/2015
N.B. Failure to comply with the above instruction will disqualify the applicants.
3. Please note that due to the number of application received, applicants will not be
acknowledged. However, applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application in
due course.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT FOR THE POST
 National Senior Certificate (Grade12)
 Completed apprenticeship and proof of having passed a qualification Trade Test in
the fitting trade in terms of the provision of section 13 of Manpower Training Act of
1981 as amended National Certificate (N2) in the mechanical field
 Ten years post apprenticeship (hands-on) experience as a fitter
 Valid driver’s license
RECOMMENDATION
 Computer literacy (MS word, Excel, & Outlook)

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
 Regular maintenance and visual checks of all plant and equipment under supervision
which will include Air-Handling units, Autoclaves, Beds, Bedside lockers, Clarifies,
Conveyors, Gas banks, Cushman, Laundry equipment, Steam boilers, Steam pots,
Steam heaters
 Steam and condensate lines trolley’s all types of pumps generator sets and
machinery associated to the fitting trade
 Ability to do gas arc welding
 Minor manufacturing work


 Repairs to all items mentioned in item
 Check and replace as necessary oxygen and nitrous oxide gas cylinders
 Bulk oxygen levels to be checked, recorded and report findings to the artisan
superintendent
 To supervise and give on the job training to all staff under his supervision
remembering to always apply safety procedures with all jobs undertaken
 Exercise control over equipment/tools and maintain in good working order
 Keep an up to date current equipment register. Tools to be audited once a month
 Show a responsible manner in the use of hospital equipment and materials
 Records to be kept and up-dated at all plant rooms, gas banks and boilers
 Install a culture of safety at all times complying with the OHSA 85 of 1993 in all
workshops practices
