BILLY “BEBOP” BANISTER

JEROMY WADE MCMILLEN
Billy “Bebop” Banister, 53, Shepherdsville, Ky., died Jan. 25, 2015 at the
Hosparus Inpatient Care Center, Louisville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Jane Banister and a brother,
George Banister.
He is survived by his best friend, Melissa Via, Shepherdsville, Ky.; three children, William Todd Via, Steven R. Via, Shepherdsville
and Sara (Zach Schroader) Via, Lebanon Junction, Ky.;
two grandchildren, Brian and Madisyn; a sister, Mary
(Henry) Bailey, Muldraugh, Ky.; a brother, Thomas Banister, Rineyville, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Jan. 30 at 7 p.m., from
the Chapel of the Hager Funeral Home with Rev. Mike
Duke officiating. Visitation will be on Jan. 30 from 11
a.m. until the time of service.

Oval R. Hobbs, 92, Guston, Ky., died Jan. 22, 2015
at Brandenburg Nursing and Rehab in Brandenburg,
Ky.
He was born Aug. 13, 1922 to the late Seth and Rosa
B. Simmons Hobbs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Earl Poole
Hobbs; and four sisters.
He is survived by 10 children, Sue (Lee) Richardson,
Dean (Brenda) Hobbs, Jerry (Janet) Hobbs, Deborah
(Daniel) Thompson, Mickey Hobbs (Jerry Meyer), Tim
(Beth) Hobbs, Brian (Carlene) Hobbs, Tammy (Steve)
Cannady, Ernie Hobbs and Eddie (Connie) Hobbs; 23
grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren.
He was a World War II Army Veteran receiving the
American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle
Eastern Campaign Medal, the Purple Heart, and the Good
Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Guston Baptist
Church, and served for 39 years civil service as a boiler
engineer.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 25 at Alexander
Funeral Home in Irvington. Burial followed in Hensley
Cemetery.

Jeromy Wade McMillen, 28, Radcliff, Ky., died Jan. 23,
2015 at his home in Radcliff.
He is survived by his parents, Wade and Theresia McMillen, Gurley, NE; a sister, Ashley Marie McMillen,
Gurley; two grandmothers, Georgia Wilson, Radcliff and
Virginia Bryan, Gurley.
The memorial service will be held on Jan. 29 at 12 p.m.
at Freeman Lake Lions Pavilion with Rev. James Lay officiating.

MARVIN LOUIS BOYD JR.
Marvin Louis Boyd Jr., 66, Payneville, Ky., died Jan.
19, 2015 in Brandenburg, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie Hornsby
and Marvin L. Boyd Sr.; his stepmother, Anna Boyd; and
a sister, Wanda Boyd Pemberton.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Singleton Boyd,
Payneville, Ky.; his daughter, Stacy Boyd (Tim) Vessels,
Vine Grove, Ky.; five grandchildren, Chloe, Bryce, Lavender Grace, Timothy Luke and Miracle; his sister, Janice
(Tony) Dean, Vine Grove; and his brother-in-law, Charles
Pemberton, Louisville, Ky.
He was a Vietnam veteran, in which he was honored as
a Purple Heart recipient, while serving in the Army.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 23 at the Chapel of
the Hager Funeral Home. Rev. Stewart Skaggs and Rev.
Guy Cornell officiated. Burial, with military honors, followed in New Highland Cemetery.

LENA HELEN POWERS CONDOR
Lena Helen Powers Condor, 92, Brandenburg, Ky., died Jan. 26, 2015.
She was born in Breckinridge County,
Ky. to the late Jess C. Powers and Beulah
Bell Curry Powers.
She is survived by her son, Richard Lee
Condor; sister, Virginia Mayne; nieces;
nephews; and her beloved cat Tammy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobart Lee Condor.
She was a homemaker who loved to sew and quilt. She
worked at the old Kellers Manufacturing Company in
Corydon, Ind. and was a member of Payneville Baptist
Church.
Visitation will be held Jan. 29, 2015 from 12-8 p.m. and
Jan. 30 after 9 a.m. at the Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. at the
funeral home, Rev. Chris Wilson officiating. Burial will
follow in Cap Anderson Cemetery next to her husband.

PAT RANDOLPH COURSEY
Pat Randolph Coursey, 89, Brandenburg, Ky., died
Jan. 21, 2015 at Signature Health Care of Elizabethtown,
Elizabethtown, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry
and Lucy Coursey; and two grandchildren, Meredith and
Ryan Coursey.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Wilma Coursey;
a son, Bruce F. (Elsie) Coursey, Panama City, Fla.; a
daughter, Darice (Donald) Spink, Brandenburg, Ky.; and
a grandchild, Derek (Brittani’) Spink.
He retired from the military serving in World War II
and Korean War after 22 years of service and worked for
the engineers at Fort Knox for 13 years. He was a member
of Vine Grove Masonic Lodge #603. He was a loving
husband, father, and grandfather and never knew a stanger
and will be greatly missed.
There will be no funeral service.

MEGAN LORRAINE HAYNES
Megan Lorraine Haynes, 20, Guston, Ky., died Jan.
26, 2015, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Ky.,
after fighting a courageous battle with leukemia.
She is survived by her parents, Tommy (Heidi) Powell
Haynes, Guston; her brother, Tyler Houston Haynes,
Guston; her great grandmother, Betty Bishoff; her paternal
grandparents, Houston “Doodle” (Joyce) Haynes, Guston;
her maternal grandparents, Larry (Pamela) Powell, Brandenburg, Ky.; an aunt, Tara (Kelly) Benham, Brandenburg;
an uncle, Allen Haynes, Guston; her cousins, Sydney,
Austin, and Madison Haynes, Guston and Levi, Madie
and Brody Benham, Brandenburg; her God chosen sister
and special friend, Erica Dowell; and a community of
other special friends.
She was a social butterfly, who thoroughly enjoyed the
river, boating, camping and spending whatever quality
time she could with friends and family. She grew up at
Salem Baptist church and spent her teen years with Barrett Howard and the youth group at Brandenburg United
Methodist Church. She was a 2012 graduate of Meade
County High school and was currently a nursing major at
the University of Louisville.
A celebration of Megan’s life will be held Jan. 31 at 1
p.m. at the gymnasium of Stuart Pepper Middle School,
with Rev. Dina Hackert and Barrett Howard officiating.
Doors to the gymnasium will open at 12:30 p.m. for the
service. Burial, with family and friends, will follow at the
Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brandenburg
United Methodist Church on Jan. 30 from 2-8 p.m. and on
Jan. 31 at Stuart Pepper Middle School from 10:00 – 11:30
a.m.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or to the
Salem Baptist Church Building Fund.

Renate Emily Merren, 73, Radcliff, Ky., died Jan. 25,
2015 at her home in Radcliff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Franz and
Margaret Riedmueller; two brothers, Heinz and Karl; a
sister, Elfie; a son, Bernie Merren; and a granddaughter,
Madison Van Nest.
She is survived by four children, Linda (Tim) Wilson,
Big Clifty, Ky., Stacy Merren, Radcliff, Monica (Doug)
Van Nest, New York, and John Merren, Louisville, Ky.;
a sister, Marga; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
