MPC News McDonough Presbyterian Church February 2015 Rev. Dr. Olin McBride Pastor Rev. Rachael Knoll Associate Pastor From Olin... Scripture reveals the meaning of the church Destiny Williams Director of Youth Ministry The church finds its meaning spelled out many time in scripture. One passage that has obvious implications for the church when you think about it is Ecclesiastes 4:9-17; Elizabeth Davis Director of Children’s Ministry “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work! If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three stands is not easily broken.” Julie Garcia Director of Children’s Choir Jason Montague Director of Music ELDERS Jay Fisher- Clerk Brian Andrews Juliet Ashman Rick Berry Ginger Irby Bill Lacy Warren Nesbit Lewis Robinson Angie Ross Eddy Smith Cara Welch Mary Katherine Laverty (Youth) Does that not say much about the importance of church membership? Does that not clearly spell out the mandate to understand our linkage and interdependence as humans? Does it not offer us hope for strength to cope, survive, and be victorious in life? I think so and I offer it to you for your reflection and meditation. A thread alone is easily broken but twine three threads together and see how strong the strand becomes. The church strengthens your life and faith by binding you to others and others to you. “two are better than one.” The oft quoted statement of Jesus, “where two or three are gathered, there am I in their midst,” is appropriate also. Think on these passages.
