Housing Rehab Program &
NEW Smoke Detectors Grant
Do you need to do a comprehensive update to
your home? Do you have leaky plumbing, flaking
paint, or flickering lights? Think you can’t afford
to repair those items? If your home has problems,
the City of Kettering may be able to help.
You may qualify for the City of Kettering’s rehab
program which offers low interest loans, deferred
loans and grants to assist residents with rehabbing
their home. To qualify you need to meet the
income qualification (below) and have equity.
We can also do a small project loan if you just
want to make one update to the home such as
new windows or an electrical upgrade.
For those whose income is under 50% of AMI, you
may qualify for an accessibility modification grant
(must be medically necessary) or an emergency
grant of up to $5,000. See the income chart below
to see if you qualify. Grants have no repayment
so you don’t need equity.
NEW: The City of Kettering has a smoke detector
grant program for qualifying households. We may
be able to hardwire smoke detectors in your home
(single family rental properties also qualify if the
owner agrees to participate). The resident will
need to have income less than 80% AMI.

We don’t check credit on any of our programs
but we do look at your ability to pay back a loan
if one is needed. We can help you complete your
program application and we work with you every
step of the way when dealing with contractors
including writing specifications, drawing up the
contract, managing the contractor and more.
If any part of the Housing Rehab program
intrigues you, we’d love to support you through
the process. In some cases we can come to you.
Please call Andria at 296-2441 ext. 4022 to get

helping you age in place!

Lathrem Craft Groups
The Lathrem Crafters will resume their Friday
meetings, January 16, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Most items created are sold throughout the year
and also at the annual Arts & Crafts Show to
benefit the Kettering Parks Foundation. All crafters
are welcome! They’re always looking for new ideas!
The Crooked Hookers meet the second and fourth
Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. They crochet, knit and
loom; anyone who is interested is welcome to
join. They create items for the Parks Foundation,
as well as other service organizations.
2014 Holiday Arts & Crafts Show
Special Thanks!
We would like to thank everyone who gave of
their time and talents in our Annual Holiday
Arts & Crafts Show. The day was a huge success
with over 1,000 shoppers from the community
browsing through our facility. Lathrem took over
the lobby with baked goods for the bake sale
and craft tables selling unique creations made
by the Lathrem Crafters and our crochet group,
the Crooked Hookers. Proceeds from these sales
go the Kettering Parks Foundation, and this year
we were able to donate over $800. This would
not have been possible without the help and
creativity of our members who volunteered their
time to make items for the show, work the tables
during the show, and all of the other “behind-thescenes” work that goes into an event like this.
Thank you all!
