Charlotte explained away the myths and misgivings of breast-feeding and quoted statistics regarding the potential health benefits for both mother and baby. From left to right; Our Chairman Bob McConnell, & our Guest Speaker, Charlotte Fielding At our Meeting on Monday the 19th of January, Norm Whiting advised that our Club had requested financial assistance from a local lady, Tammy King to help towards the cost of collecting an Autism Assistance Dog from Righteous Puppies in Bendigo, Victoria. This meeting, the 2nd of February, we will introduce you to Tammy, her daughters Indiana & Melika, and also the Autism Puppy, Jill. I would ask all of our members to make all of our visitors very welcome. Dates to remember I know that Julie Murray will remind everyone plus please don’t forget; • Barbeque Meeting at Cape Bridge Reserve on Monday the 9th of February • Special Movie Night, (THE Second BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL), on Thursday the 26th of February • One Care Rotary District 9830 conference, 20th to the 22nd of March • Combined Bowls Night meeting on Monday the 23rd of March at Burnie Greens MEETING AGENDA & FELLOWSHIP February 2015 2nd 9th Board Meeting (Tammy King) BBQ meeting 2nd 9th 16th Committee Meetings Rural Clinical School Bowls night 16th 23rd 23rd 30th March 2015 Board Meeting Sam Aitken, National Science Forum Committee Meetings Ellen Burns Life story Roz Smart from office of Anti Discrim THIS MEETING Greeter Cashier’s Chairman Programme Heads & Tails / Q of Hearts Scribe PROGRAMME FOR Birthdays Weddings Rotary NA Rob & Pat Stokes 2nd February 2015 Wolf Friedersdorff 11 Years 2nd February 2015 BBQ at Cape Bridge Reserve Don’t forget that our meeting on Monday week, 9/2 will not be held at the RSL. The Fellowship Committee has organised a BBQ at Cape Bridge Reserve. You will recall that Leo advised members at our last meeting that he has sausages, hamburgers and drinks left over from the last BBQ held at Bunning’s recently and he has offered these for sale to members to save them bringing meat along that night. Sausages will be for sale @ $2/each, hamburgers @ $3/each and soft drinks @ $1.50/can. If you wish to avail yourselves of these, Leo will be collecting orders next Monday night. He will require exact numbers so that he can defrost the appropriate number of items. However, if you prefer to bring your own meat, that’s fine. Please note that you DO need to bring along ALL your own requirements, ie, drinks, glasses, plates, cutlery, salads, etc. And it also might be a good idea to bring along a chair/table. There are a few at the Reserve but I don’t think there will be enough for everyone. The starting time will be as for our normal meetings, ie, 6.00 for 6.30pm and the cost will be $2/head (donation). Also, as mentioned previously, if it’s raining, the Wynyard Golf Club has very kindly offered us use of the covered area at the rear of the Clubhouse. Hopefully, however, we won’t need to use this and we will have a lovely fine evening!!! If you have any questions in relation to either of these functions, please contact me by email, or ask me on Monday night. Penny King’s daughter Indiana suffers from Autism. Guest Speaker. Chairman- Bob McConnell introduced Charlotte Fielding. Charlotte spoke of the work she heads with a small band of big hearts; helping, supporting, encouraging and being alongside mothers having difficulties in breast-feeding their babies. She stressed how important it is for the health of the baby when they are breast-fed. There was couple of questions asked for clarifications and a comment or two. It was clear that this is a charity group within our community, trying to meet and address the pains, pressure, distress, uncertainty, rejection and the feeling of hopelessness amongst mothers with babies. President Ken agreed that the club should keep in touch with Charlotte’s Breast Feeding through Rachel Arnold. Chairman Bob thanked Charlotte and presented her a pen as a token of appreciation. General Business Tony Boys informed all that the club donated $500 for the “Gift of Sight” eye camp and $1,500 for the Baljyote School building sent Kevin Shedbolt. Meeting closed at 8:45pm.
