Character Education Topic: Humility
For the month of February we will be emphasizing the character trait
of Humility: Acknowledging that my achievements are the result of the
investment that others make in my life.
Our weekly verse is I Peter 5:5b: “Yes, all of you be submissive to one
another, and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, but gives
grace to the humble.”
Elementary Math Parent Night, Part 2
The Elementary Math Parent Night scheduled for February 5
has been postponed. Please watch for more details to come as
to when it will be rescheduled.
Court of Hearts Week
Court of Hearts is next week! Be ready to enter
into the "Happiest Place on Earth" for
the week of February 9-13. The Court was
announced last week and consists of:

We will conclude the week with a great night of basketball as our teams
take on Amity at home. We'd love to fill the gym with fans of all ages.
Mark your calendars and plan to wear red for our red-out night.
The week will be filled with contests and opportunities to earn class
points. At the end of the week, the class with the highest points will be
awarded the Spirit Stick.
We will also have red spirit shirts (see artwork above) available for
purchase. Shirts go on sale Monday, February 9 during JH/HS lunch. Cost
is $8/shirt or 4 for $30. Sizes YS-Adult XXXL are available. Quantities are
limited so act fast.
Valentine Candy Grams
The junior class will be
selling Candy Grams starting
Wednesday, February 4.
Cost is $2 for a bag of candy
that will be delivered to the
student with a personalized
message. Candy Grams can be ordered in the school
offices through Wednesday, February 11, and will be
delivered on Friday, February 13.
Auction Solicitors Meeting - Tuesday
The Auction Solicitors meeting, will be held Tuesday,
February 3, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the MAP room.
If you are interested in being a solicitor for auction
items or if you would just like to hear more about
what this entails, please join us Tuesday. Contact

Hoodoo Ski Trip - Postponed
The high school ski trip planned for February 7 has
been postponed due to lack of snow on the slopes.
Parking Lots - Drop Off/Pick Up Reminder
The parking lots on each side of the Prince of Peace church are for church usage. They
graciously allow our staff to park there, but
the lots are not to be used for student parking or
for parents to pick up and drop off before and after
school. Please help us be good neighbors and respect
their property. Drop off/pick up for most students
should take place in the front lot. The rear parking lot
is reserved for bus traffic and preschool drop off.
Senior Night for Wrestling
Tuesday, February 3 is Senior Night for our wrestling
team. They have a home match against Phlomath
at 5:30 p.m. Please come celebrate Senior Night and
support the Eagle wrestlers.

College Information Sessions
SC’s College and Career Center has
scheduled representatives from the
following colleges to be on campus to meet with
interested SC students. (Unless otherwise noted,
sessions are held at Prince of Peace during 8th

SAT Registration Deadline
February 13 is the deadline for high school students
to register for the March 14 SAT. To register for the
SAT, go to http://sat.collegeboard.org/register.
Internet Safety Event
On February 9, at 6:30 pm come to the SC gym to
hear Officer Christopher Dale, of the Benton County
Sheriff’s Office, share information with you regarding
internet safety, and how to keep your kids safe in the
digital world. General topics to be covered include
overall internet safety, cyber-bullying, and sexting.
There will also be info shared on some of the apps
available for download of which parents should
be aware. Please plan to attend! You may direct
questions to Mr. Villers ([email protected]) or Mr.
Bittner ([email protected]).
SC Band Students Chosen for Honors Symphony
Five SC band students were selected for the
Willamette Valley Junior Honors Symphony: 8th
graders Emily Zimmers (flute) and Sam Wang (violin),
7th grader Rory Donley-Lovato (trumpet), and 6th
graders Jonathan Johnson (trumpet) and Ellen
Coburn (flute). Congratulations to these excellent
musicians and to all who had the courage to audition!
Spring Sports Sign Ups - Grades 3-12
Spring Sports sign-ups are here for grades 3-12.
Emergency & Participation forms are necessary.
The deadline for grades 3-8 is February 27. If your
athlete is in Junior High or High School they will
need a current sports physical as well. Fortier
Chiropractic Clinic will be running a sports physical
clinic on Saturday, February 21 ($20 fee). To schedule

Hey Eagles fans! On Friday,
February 13, Santiam
Christian is hosting our
last boys and girls regular
season basketball games.
We will be honoring our
senior basketball players
and presenting our high
school's Court of Hearts
during halftime of the
boys varsity game. LET'S FILL SC GYM! That's right, we
are hoping to pull out both sides of the bleachers and
get our gym "rockin!" We want to send our seniors
out right and show how deep our school spirit runs!
We are going to "RED OUT" our gym! So put on your
SC red or purchase one of our new COURT OF HEART
Shirts (available for purchase for only $8.)
Ways You Can Support SC
Pep Band Members Wanted
Attention all band instrumentalists (students, parents,
teachers, and alumni), we will have a pep band for
the basketball games on Friday, February 6 (times to
be announced). If you are interested, e-mail Annette
Miller at [email protected] and you can get a
packet of pep band music ahead of time.
SC Open House
Please mark your calendars and invite your friends to
attend our Open House on Tuesday, March 3. From
5:30-7:30 p.m. our preschool, elementary, junior
high, and high school faculty will be available so
you can tour the campus, visit teachers, and view
our curriculum. This is a great time to visit with the
teachers your student will have next year and is
particularly helpful for those who are transitioning
from elementary to junior high and from junior high
to high school.
Invite any friends who you think would be a good
fit at SC. The junior high and high school also offer
a visitation day on March 3. Interested students can
spend the day at SC shadowing one of our students
to see what school here is like.

Coach Needed for Girls on the Run
Our GOTR Team at Santiam Christian is looking for
healthy minded, positive and FUN individuals to lead
a team of a maximum of 32 girls. Parents, teachers,
school administrators, college students, runners,
non-runners, and people who are committed to
developing and celebrating our youth make great
coaches! Our coaches deliver the GOTR curriculum,
twice a week for 90 minutes. Tuesdays and Thursdays
3:15-4:45pm. If you are passionate about the GOTR
mission, committed to working with a group of girls
throughout the 10 week season in the spring, and
able to bring energy and joy to each practice, please
join us!
We currently have Head Coaches Niki Kelley and
Jennifer VonDerahe, and assistants Joanna Haugen
and Sally Cheyne. However, as all busy Moms, we’d
love to have at least one more person join our team
and help coach.

Tool Belts & Tool Chest Wanted
The high school Ag Mechanics class
is in need of gently used tool belts
and an upright tool chest that can be
used to store and organize drill bits
and router bits. If you have one that
you no longer need and would like to

Scrip = Tuition
Purchase gift cards for your favorite stores/
restaurants through SC’s Scrip program. Scrip orders
are due on MONDAY. Orders placed by 8:30 a.m. on
the order day will be filled and returned to you that
week by Thursday. For a copy of the Scrip order

BRICKS 4 KIDZ
Ladies: IF:Gathering
™
Build machines, buildings, vehicles, and more out of LEGO™ blocks, in this hands on
experience using one-of-a-kind model plans. Instructional content is multi-disciplinary and
designed to introduce as well as increase the student’s general knowledge of S.T.E.M. (science,
technology, engineering, and math) concepts. Students will work in pairs as they learn the
fundamentals of engineering, architecture, problem solving skills, cooperation, and creativity.
There will be no take home projects. All classes and workshops are for ages 6-12.
Pre-registration is required one week prior to the start date.
Winter Fun
Mining and Crafting All Day
Bring the winter fun indoors with interactive Bricks4Kidz
models of some popular winter activities: luge, hockey,
snowmobile, and more. All you need to create memories
are our bricks and your imagination.
Experience the world of Mine Craft with Lego Bricks.
Students will face new challenges each day, building
models and crafting key elements from the popular Mind
Craft game.
Construction Craze
Put on your hard hat and head over to the construction
site! Build motorized Lego models relating to the
construction industry.
Cranium Contraptions
Build and explore crazy contraptions that really work your
brain! Students will use Lego bricks, axles, pulleys, gears,
and motors to create fun and interactive models.
Space Adventures
Many children dream of being an astronaut and traveling
to space, so Bricks4Kidz created an entire unit dealing
with the final frontier. Students will learn about space
exploration and build Lego models relating to space.

The Experimental Aircraft Association in Independence,
OR is offering a Teen Aviation Weekend February 7-8 for
interested students ages 14-17. It is completely free of
