Organized by: Friday, 30 January 2015 12:00pm – 4:30pm Closing date: 23 January 2015 Organized by: INTRODUCTION In the last 20 years, Minimally-Invasive Surgery (MIS) has expanded from its niche area to join the mainstream of most surgical specialties. In fact, MIS procedures have become the preferred choices in gallbladder, colorectal and bariatric surgery; and indeed MIS is even making inroads into traditional bastions of open surgery such as transplant, cardiac and orthopedic surgery. Surgical training in the 21st century would be incomplete without formal teaching and structured guidance in the technique of MIS procedures. This workshop will allow participants to practice and enhance their laparoscopic skills. LEARNING OUTCOMES TARGET AUDIENCE At the end of the workshop, trainees will be able to demonstrate the basic laparoscopic techniques and acquire skills and knowledge in handling the laparoscopic instruments and camera. This workshop is strongly recommended as a mandatory program for R1/R2 residents in General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Cardiothoracic and Surgery-In-General & Surgical Specialties (Urology) programs. It is also recommended for House Officers, Medical Officers and any interested clinicians who seek to equip themselves with the basic laparoscopic techniques.
