Please help us as we continue the Newport Night Run – A Race For
Education another exciting family-oriented events that will be part of
the 27th Newport Winter Festival at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening,
February 20, 2015.
We have partnered with Gray Matter Marketing, a successful local full
service marketing consulting and event management agency responsible
for such events as the Citizen’s Bank Pell Bridge Run, the Newport 10
Miler, the Ocean State Soap Box Derby and the Elliot Kaminitz Father’s
Day Ride, to bring this unique Newport Night Run – A Race For
Education to the Winter Festival lineup of events.
Your sponsorship of the Newport Night Run – A Race For Education
will fund NPEF Enrichment Grants for classrooms, schools and
community organizations to provide educational opportunities for the
students of Newport Public Schools, that are not otherwise funded
through the school budget. 100% of your sponsorship will go directly to
fund the mission and programs of the Newport Public Education
Foundation.

The Race For Education Committee and the
Officers and Board of Trustees of NPEF
Students at the Claiborne Pell
Elementary School use Reflex Math to
practice their math facts. Reflex Math
for Pell and Thompson and IXL Math
for Rogers are funded this year by
NPEF in a district-wide effort to
increase
our
students’
math
proficiency.
The Newport Public Education Foundation (NPEF) is an all-volunteer non-profit organization
dedicated to the students of Newport Public Schools. Over the last 23 years NPEF has awarded over
$250,000.00 in grants to classroom teachers and community groups to provide innovative educational
experiences to students.
OUR MISSION:
The Newport Public Education Foundation (NPEF), established in 1991, is an independent, non-profit
501(c)(3). The Mission of the Newport Public Education Foundation (NPEF) is to support all children in the
Newport Public Schools by funding innovative educational experiences and by expanding broad based support
for awareness of, and excellence in, public education without political involvement.
In response to the needs of our changing district, NPEF has recently updated its strategic direction. We will
focus on five key ideas:
• To support programs and services that address district-wide educational needs and enhance student
learning
• To foster community volunteerism in the schools
• To encourage a community dialogue addressing school district-wide educational issues
• To raise funds to support our current programs and to establish a strong financial foundation that will permit
future expansion
• To ensure broad community participation in the organization and to create an organizational structure
optimizing execution of all goals
