FACULTY OF ARTS CAREER ROUND TABLE, January 29, 2015 LIST OF PRESENTERS Helen Sophia Chua Balderama B.A. (Philosophy), MPA Helen Balderama has fifteen years in international education cooperation and program management. She has resided in four countries, and had the opportunity to work and interact with peers from more than fifty countries around the world. She has worked at the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines and Asia-Europe Foundation. In 2013, Helen joined the University of Manitoba and is currently International Programs Coordinator at UM Extended Education. In 2014, she served as Advisor to CBIE’s International Network of Tomorrow’s Leaders (INTL) Working Group. Nancy Buchanan B.A. (Film Studies / Women’s Studies). M.Ed. Since university, Nancy Buchanan has enjoyed opportunities to work in the arts, education, not-for-profit, and government sectors in a variety of interesting and challenging roles. She is currently a Manager of Youth Engagement in the Youth Branch in the department of Children and Youth Opportunities. Sally Correia B.A. (Anthropology / History / Psychology), MA Sally Correia is Senior Development Consultant at Organization and Staff Development (OSD) where she consults on organization management for the Manitoba government across all departments. Sally designs and trains employees in strategic planning, performance management and measurement, policy development and analysis, organizational review, continuous improvement, and risk management. Before OSD, Sally worked in Executive Council, Manitoba Health, and Treasury Board Secretariat. Sally is a writer of both fiction and non-fiction. She recently attained a Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education from the University of Manitoba. Kevin Glasier B.A. (English / Film Studies) As founder, CEO, and creative director at Tactica Interactive, Kevin Glasier leads a team that conceptualizes, designs, and develops engaging websites, mobile apps, and games. Tactica’s clients include Rogers, CBC, Oprah Winfrey Network, Frantic Films, APTN, Canadian Museum of Human Rights, University of Manitoba, Red River College, Manitoba Public Insurance, and Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. Kevin has led acclaimed cross-platform projects that have won Canadian New Media awards and nominations for Gemini and Rockie awards. Kevin has an Arts degree from the University of Manitoba (English/Film) and a Creative Communications diploma from Red River College. He is a board member of OnScreen Manitoba, New Media Manitoba, and is marketing committee member at United Way of Winnipeg. Sandra Hodzic B.A. (Philosophy / Political Science), MPA Sandra Hodzic is a civil servant with versatile skills that have allowed her to work on many exciting projects. Her experience working in the Department of Manitoba Jobs and the Economy has equipped her with a wealth of policy experience and knowledge in federal, provincial and territorial relations. Most recently, Sandra lead the transformation of Manitoba’s major labour market agreements and implemented the federal Canada Job Grant in 2014. Most recently, Sandra is a Senior Policy Analyst with the Office of the Fire Commissioner where she leads a small policy unit in developing new regulations under the Technical Safety Act, as well as providing overall policy support and overseeing board and council administration within the Agency. Ian McIvor B.A. (Philosophy / English), J.D. Ian McIvor is currently a litigation associate at D’Arcy & Deacon LLP. In addition to obtaining his Juris Doctorate, Ian received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba, majoring in Philosophy. In his spare time, which is fleeting, Ian enjoys playing as much hockey and golf as can be justified. Greg Scheelar B.A. (History / English), B.Ed. Greg Scheelar is presently a Workforce Development Consultant at Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology. He has been in the field of corporate training, adult education, and was once a life skills coach at Headingley Correctional Centre. When Greg was a University of Manitoba student, he was a newspaper reporter and assistant editor for The Manitoban. Lisa Quirion B.A. (Anthropology / Art History) Lisa Quirion has worked in the museum field since university including the Manitoba Museum, Winnipeg Art Gallery and Art Gallery of Alberta. She has been Collections Manager at the Winnipeg Art Gallery since 2004, managing information and logistics relating to the WAG’s artwork collection and exhibitions. She joins the Canadian Museum for Human Rights as Registrar of the CMHR’s art and artefacts collection in February 2015.
