ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES " I Have Never...” Home Party Plan Game Each guest will be given 10 pennies at the start of the game. Beginning with the hostess, each guest must say something that she HAS NEVER done that she thinks other guests HAVE done. Example: "I have never got a speeding ticket." Anyone who has been given a speeding ticket must give up one penny to that guest. Go around the room twice. At the end, the person with the most pennies gets a prize. Be sure to tell guests that they need to be honest. Be careful - this one can get a little crazy, depending on the group!! But, it can be hilarious. Ask Me About My Job This game is great for slipping in lots of sponsoring seeds as well as having fun! It’s called “Ask Me About My Job”. Have a roll of tickets (the kind you’d use for a 50/50 draw). Say “For the next 3 minutes we’re going to play ‘Ask Me About My Job’. The first person to come up with a question will get 3 tickets, the 2nd person will get 2 and every question after that earns 1 ticket.” Questions like “How many hours do you work a week?” and “How long have you been doing it?” will start coming at you. Answer them as positively as possible. Ie. “I only work evenings and weekend because I want to be home with my children.” “I’ve been doing this job for 18mos and I’ve never had so much.” At the end of the Q & A you can either draw for a prize right then and there, or you can tell the guests to hang on to their tickets and do a little more Q & A towards the end of the party (they may have thought of other questions by then). It’s a lot of fun when the questions start coming in fast and furious… guests try to out-do each other and ask the most questions (they want to be the one with the most tickets) and it’s GREAT for teaching people about your business and how it might benefit them. Bingo Make up Bingo cards for guests. Write on them words/products that are for the party plan company you are with. Write FREE on center. (You may want to make a couple cards.) You read off of your master card(s), and the guests check off the item on their bingo card(s) when someone has them crossed straight in a row up or down or from corner to corner, they must yell Bingo and they get a prize. As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 1 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES The Clothespin Game As each guest arrives, hand him or her a clothespin. Tell them to attach it to themselves in an obvious spot, and each time they “catch” another guest crossing or uncrossing their legs through out the evening, they can “steal” that guest’s clothespin(s). This definitely keeps the party from getting too “formal”. Whoever has collected the most clothespins at the end of your presentation gets a gift! Detergent and Soap Quiz How many soaps and detergents can you find? With joy in my heart, I made a dash for the mailbox. What a thrill to find that my special package had arrived. Giving a shout I raced into the house like a Haley's Comet. "Why all the excitement?" asked my husband. "If you'd use some of the energy to keep the house spic n span and to get the laundry done, I might have enough clean clothes to tide me over." "So, you think house work is a breeze." I retorted. “Here’s the whisk broom now why don't you climb down from your ivory tower and give me a hand?" "And as for the laundry, I thought I woodbury that in the back yard." "One more bold remark like that", he replied" and I'm going to dial the dress shop and cancel the order on your new chiffon dress. How duz that strike you?" "Not on your lifebuoy" I said, grabbing the phone from his hand. "I was only teasing Sweetheart” he said, "Now go and open your special package to cheer you up.” Detergent & Soap Quiz Answers Joy, Dash, Thrill, Shout, Comet, Spic N Span, Tide, Breeze, Whisk, Ivory, Woodbury, Bold, Dial, Chiffon, Duz, Lifebuoy, Sweetheart, Cheer Double Dice You will need some floor space for this one. Get everyone in a circle and place some wrapped gifts in the center, usually a number less then the number of guests. (Choose inexpensive gifts, small picture frames, votive candle, cute memo pad, etc. $ Stores have some great items for this game.) When wrapping make the gifts attractive. Wrap in different size boxes, add color, bow, or unique wrapping to make them look pretty. Set a timer for as long as you feel you want the game to continue, this also would depend on the # of guests at the show. Give dice to hostess and have her roll, if she rolls doubles she gets a gift from the floor, guests continue to pass the dice onto the next person. Once the gifts are gone from the floor anyone that rolls doubles can take whatever gift they want from someone holding a gift. End game when you feel all have had adequate time to pass the dice. This has been one of the most requested games when I host a show that someone has either been a hostess or has attended one of my shows that have played Double Dice. As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 2 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES (similar to the one above) The Floor Game Give each guest three pieces of paper and ask them to put their name on each piece. Collect all papers and put them in a bag or bowl. On the floor, place three or four small prizes. Start calling names from the bowl. When each name is called the guests have to pick something from the floor. When the items are gone off the floor, they have to take from each other. When all the names have been called three times, the guests left holding a prize wins. Hostess Scavenger Hunt Here is a list of 22 different kinds of people. If you get ten of them to your party on ________________, (day) _____/_____/____. I will have a special gift for you. A red headed lady A pregnant lady A waitress A church friend A neighbor A grandmother Someone with all sons Someone with all daughters A mother of a baby under 1 year old Someone who orders $50 or more A bowler A person who decorates cakes A lady on a diet A lady with size 9 shoes An in-law A former neighbor A teacher or Sunday School teacher A club member Someone with no children Someone who will book a party Someone interested in business information A friend who doesn't work YOU MUST HAVE TEN (10) DIFFERENT PEOPLE TO QUALIFY. I WISH YOU GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY HUNTING! As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 3 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES Icebreaker Game Let each guest pick out a balloon from a bowl. Then explain, the first person to blow up their balloon, tie it, sit on it & pop it will win a free gift. This is a great ice breaker for any group; it gets everyone up and laughing. How well do you know your hostess? Give a piece of paper to your guest and have them number it from 1-10 then ask them the following questions. 1) What is your hostess’s favorite color? 2) If she could have any vehicle what would it be? 3) How many kids does she have? 4) What is her favorite hobby? 5) Who is her favorite actor/actress? 6) What is her favorite item on the table? 7) What is her favorite scent (can be a perfume)? 8) What is her favorite cartoon / cartoon character? 9) What is her favorite animal? 10) If you were in need of something would your hostess give it to you if she can? After everyone answers the questions then I read the question again to the hostess and she will reply out loud what her answer is, and they would mark on the paper if they got it right or wrong. Then they total up their score. Now you can rearrange or change any of these questions but this gives you an ideal of a game you can play. I put the last one in there and saved it for last cause this is a way to lead into how your guest can get free products and help your hostess at the same time for having a party. Cause right now your hostess needs something from them that they are the only ones that can give it to her, and that is to book a party so she can get more free products. The one with the most answers correct gets something from the goodie bag. Pen Game Use this game to select a door prize! Put small labels on all your pens with each having a different number. At the beginning of the demonstration, ask each person to write their number on their order form and circle it. At the end of the demonstration collect all the pens and have your hostess pick one. The matching number wins. This is also a great way to get your pens back! As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 4 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES Interactive Presentation Game (needs to be reworked for Usborne) As with any activity, you have to determine if this would suit the group you are working with. This activity does not use equipment, so it is easy to do on the spur of the moment. I introduce the activity by telling the guests that I need their help. I teach them actions or sounds to make when I say key words in my presentation. These are rather silly, of course, but this encourages guests to listen for key words. Choose only about five actions or sounds so it does not get too complicated or long. For example: "14kt gold", they say "oooo" "jeweller" - they say "bing bong" (the sound of the door bell when the jeweller arrives) "hostess" - they applaud or say "thank you!" when they recognize a hosting benefit, they say "aahhhh" "Swarovski crystal" - they are to shade their eyes (from the brilliance of the stones!) "Moose Jaw" (the home of Fifth Avenue Collection), they put their fingers on top of their heads to represent moose horns. "bonus gift" - "whoopee" "book a show" - touch the side of their head and say "hmmm" This can be easily adapted for your presentation. "Lucky Lady" Game Have the consultant bring lots of business cards, one per guest at the party. On the back of one write "LL" for lucky lady. Hand out a business card to every guest and tell them not to tell who has the LL on her card. Before just letting them go, tell them to put the cards in a safe place until the end preferably their wallets or purses so they won't lose it or throw it away. At the end have the girl with the LL on her card receive a gift, and by now all the other guests have forgotten about their business cards in their purses or wallets so they won't take them out or throw them away. Now when they think of your party plan company, they will remember your card in their wallet. It's great for getting your name out there and for booking future parties for the ladies who didn't want to that night. As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 5 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES PASS THE GIFT GAME Use an inexpensive gift, such as a candle in a jar, or what ever your business can offer to the guest, (under $5 or $10) Start by giving the gift to the hostess or person in the middle of the group 1. Take this gift and with out a sigh look around and give it to a person with brown eyes. 2.Yes, you are the lucky one for a moment, but let us all share in the fun! Please look around with eyes discreet and give it to the one with the smallest feet. 3. Your feet are tiny and very small, now hand it to someone very tall. 4. Please take your time and don't be harried. Give it to the one who is longest married. 5. You must be proud of your life, now please pass this to the newest wife. 6. Of this parcel you are bereft, give it to the one on your left. 7. The largest earrings I'm looking for now, if you are wearing them, step up and bow. 8. Now to the person with buttons... big or small, any kind, the most you can find, gets the gift this time. 9. Now don't get cross and please don't fight, but pass it to the person 3rd on your right. 10. We should stop now, don't you agree? This gift is yours to keep with glee!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I hope you, your hostess and guest enjoy this game as much as I do every time I play it in my shows. THEY love it!! As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 6 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES Switching Roles (this is a good recruiting activity) In the middle of your presentation, ask for a volunteer. Have the guest that volunteers present an item from your collection/products at the party. If your company uses script cards, give one to that guest. If not, and you use notecards, give one of them to the guest. If you don't use any notes, write out what you would say about the item and have the guest read your notes. The Penny Game When each person arrives at the gathering give them a penny and tell them to hold on to it for a game later in the evening. When you're finished with the demo and everyone is about to order tell them about the penny. They have a few options. They can keep the penny as your gift to them. Or they can redeem their penny and save .01 on their order. Or they can give you the penny to "buy" a prize. Tell them ahead of time what the slips say so they can decide if they want to take a chance. If they decide to "buy" a prize, they must draw a slip from your mystery bag! Inside the bag have slips of paper with: 10% off your order, $2.00 off your order, free shipping, no tax, choose a gift. They get to reach in the bag and draw a slip. If they are really lucky, they get to book a party ! They must choose a date that night so have your calendar handy. I've booked lots of demo's from this. Everyone likes to try their luck and it's a "pressure on them" way to get bookings!! Be sure to mark your slips as to not give away to many expensive items, shipping, etc. Thread Introductions This is a great way for your guests to introduce themselves to the others. Once you have begun your party, tell everybody that you are going to pass around a spool of thread and that they are to take a piece "as long as they think they will need". They will begin asking ... "need for what etc." You smile and say, oh it could be for anything, just take a piece as long as you think you will need, and pass the spool. Of course they might think well whoever comes closest to going around their waist etc. Or if they see their closest neighbor sitting to them takes a real short piece, they will take a real long piece. After everybody has taken their thread, you tear off a piece and wrap it once around your finger and hold telling them they have to do the same and they have to talk about themselves for as long as it takes to wind the rest of the thread around their finger. Start by telling them about yourself and your business (so take a longer piece) It can get wild if somebody has taken yards of thread! As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 7 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES "What's In Your Purse?" Game It works like a scavenger hunt, and there are two variations: 1. As you go through your presentation, choose certain featured items, and ask your customers to find an item that starts with that letter, in their purse. You can hand out raffle tickets or auction money to the first one who comes up to you with the item. 2. You can ask for pre-selected items to be found in their purse, using those items to promote various aspects of your business. For example, ask for a credit card, and then talk about the different types of payment your company takes. Receipt from a store: "look closely at your receipt. Did you receive anything free"? Talk about your hostess benefits. Checkbook: Are you happy with your current balance, or are you just getting by? We can help (talk about your recruiting opportunity). Watch: Want to set your own hours at work? (recruiting opportunity) Pain Reliever: "Think planning a party is a big headache? Let me show you how easy it is"! Have fun with it, and be creative! The Price Is Right Game This game offers an alternative and fun way to describe some of your products. First, choose products you want to highlight. You’ll need 1 for the first “item up for bid;” 3 for the first “pricing game;” 1 for the 2nd item up for bid; 1 for the 2nd pricing game; 1 for the 3rd item up for bid; and one for the 3rd game. In between games 1 and 2 will be a “Commercial Break” and in between games 2 and 3 will be a “commercial break.” Ask for 3 volunteers to bid on the first item. Give each a ticket (I use tickets and draw one winner at the end of the show; others use auction dollars) for volunteering. Describe your first item. Ask each to guess the actual price without going over. The closest wins. Award one ticket for winning; 2 tickets for exact price guess. The winner plays the first pricing game. This game is “Which two?” or “Same Price.” Describe 3 items—two of which have the exact same price—and ask the player to guess which two are priced exactly the same. Award one ticket for an incorrect guess and two tickets for a correct guess. 1st commercial break—guests ask you questions about your hostess program. Award a ticket for each question. 2nd item up for bid—if enough guests, ask for 3 new volunteers. If not enough guests, replace the winner from game 1 with a new contestant. Describe your next item. Winner plays the 2nd pricing game—“More than or Less than.” Describe one of your items and state an incorrect price for that item. Ask the player if the actual price is “more than or less than” As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 8 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES the amount you stated. Award one ticket for incorrect answer and two tickets for correct answer. 2nd commercial break—guests ask you questions about your business opportunity. Award a ticket for each question. 3rd item up for bid—repeat #2 process. 3rd pricing game—“higher or lower.” Describe an item and have the player guess the price. You then tell her if the actual price is higher or lower than her guess. Keep doing this until she gets it right (it’s the “clock game” on the tv show). Award two tickets for getting right price. The Vacation Game Ask each guest to bring a picture from her favorite vacation. Then ask them the following questions about their pictures. 1. Is the picture in color? (If yes, 5 points.) 2. Was the picture taken in the last 6 months? (If yes, 15 points.) 3. Are there mountains in the picture? (If yes, 10 points.) 4. Is there a lake in the picture? (If yes, 10 points.) 5. Is there an ocean in the picture? (If yes, 10 points.) 6. Was the picture taken on an island? (If yes, 15 points.) 7. How did you get there? Airplane 15 points Train/Bus 10 points Car 5 points 8. Is there a landmark in the picture? (If yes, 20 points.) 9. Are there any people in the picture? You 10 points Family/Friends 5 points each 10. Is someone waving "hi" in the picture? (If yes, 30 points.) 11. Is someone in the picture riding a horse, camel, or elephant? (If yes, 100 points.) 12. Did someone accidentally appear in the picture? (If yes, 50 points.) 13. Did you have a stranger take the picture for you? (If yes, 25 points.) 14. Is anyone kissing or hugging in the picture? (If yes, 75 points.) 15. Was the picture taken on your honeymoon (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or whichever)? (If yes, 50 points.) 16. Did the person taking the picture accidentally get their finger(s) in front of the lens? (If yes, deduct 10 points.) After reading the 16 questions, go back and give points that correspond to their respective answers. Total the points to determine the winner. www.homepartyplannerwork.com/homepartygames/index.htm As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 9 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES Hostess Scavenger Hunt - Home Party Plan Game To get your Hostess in the party spirit, give her this Hostess Scavenger Hunt. The highest bidder gets the item. Note: You can also issue money during the party as prizes for other games you might play, someone asking questions, etc. Let's Make a Deal Home Party Plan Game Items Needed: 4 envelopes and a basket with your inexpensive door prizes. Inside each envelope, put a small piece of paper folded several times so they can't see it. On one, write $1.00; another $2.00; another $3.00; and another $5.00. Tell everyone what is inside and that they are gift certificates for tonight! Have the first person to your left pick one of the envelopes. But tell her she CAN'T LOOK! Now, play the "Right-Left" Game and the envelope travels right and left. At the end, tell the person with the envelope "DON'T LOOK" ~ Because I want to "Make A Deal" with you. Say: "Since you didn't pick the envelope, maybe your luck is better than hers...so you can trade for another envelope if you want to." Hold the other envelopes out. Usually everyone is hollering "trade" or "don't trade." Next, say, "DON'T LOOK!" ~ "I'll make another deal with you... (Pull out your gift basket). "I will trade you the envelope for an item in my basket....that envelope could be worth $5 or maybe just $1." Everyone is again yelling "trade" or "don't trade." She then makes her choice. Then say, "DON'T LOOK!!!" ~"I have another deal to make with you....I will give you your envelope back and DOUBLE what's inside or give you TWO prizes from my basket IF you will book a show tonight and help (Hostess) out." If she doesn't book she gets either what's in the envelope or her gift but MOST of the time they will book. Purse ABCs - Home Party Plan Game Bring a bag of candy with you to the party (Hershey Kisses, etc.). Tell guests not to eat the candy during the game. Call a letter of the alphabet, and the first person to SHOW an item from their purse representing that letter wins a candy. Each person who wins, gets a piece of candy; the person with the most candy at the end of the game is the winner. As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 11 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES Only use about 8-10 letters or so, then stop the game and do your party demonstration. You can play the second half of the game at the end of the demonstration, but this time the guests must ask you questions about your direct selling career and company to earn a piece of candy. Imagination counts. It could be a description of an item, the brand name, color, etc. You'll notice that the same things can be called different names, but they all work for this game. It's a lot of fun to see what people think of when you call a letter. Sure to bring you lots of laughs. The Price is Right Party Plan Game This is a fun game for all. You will need play money and small inexpensive prizes. Each guest receives $400 to start. Put $300 of that at their feet. If they decide to book a show anytime during the game, they can pick up the $300. They get to keep the $100 just for playing. You can throw in booking suggestions by offering a $100. With larger crowds not everyone will have the opportunity to be a contestant, but they will still have a chance to earn money. Offer 2 commercial breaks at which they will get $100 for every question they ask. Commercials could be about hosting a show, starting their own (your company) business, etc. Have each guest fill out a drawing slip. Draw 2 Contestants - Each gets $100. They will be your participants for the first game. 1st Item Up for Bid - Select from the games listed below. The winner is the one who comes closest without going over the actual price. $100 goes to the winner. $200 for getting the price exactly right. $100 goes to the loser for playing. 1st Commercial - Hostess Program: They can only ask questions about the Hostess program. Next have them list five reasons why they would get rid of it. After everyone is done writing, say, "OK…cross out the household item that you have written down, in its place I want you to replace it with your husband or boyfriend's name." When they say the sentence they must say: I want to replace (name of husband/boyfriend) because he is....................... and list their reasons. The one that gets the biggest laughs wins the prize! Repeat Guests This is great for repeat guests; you want them to be involved. Purchase a very attractively decorated package (something from your inventory) and told them that for earning tickets tonight, they will have a chance to win this beautiful gift from me! (I pass out tickets during my class) Here is the catch: they had to "do" my show! I asked the group, "Ok, which one of you would like to come up here and welcome everyone and thank the Hostess for having the party tonight?" One of the guests jumped right up, and I'll be darned if she didn't say exactly what I usually say!! I gave her 6 tickets for doing that. After she was done, I then asked someone to get up and share something about their favorite product. Do this with each repeat guest! Their job wasn't over yet. I asked someone to come up and do the Door Prize Slip - games and all. They were great!!! When all was said and done, they had the best time ever at one of my classes and it held their interest. I did the drawing and one guest won the gift. But the best part of the night was when I confessed to them: I told them I keep coming and making money off them and tonight was no different; except, THEY did the show while I watched, and I was the one getting paid for it! Tic-Tac-Toe The way you play is the hostess and every guest gets a piece of paper with a blank tic-tactoe board on it. You tell everyone that as you are presenting the product, if they like that particular item then they can write it in one of the 9 blank spots on the paper. When the demo is done the guests should have their entire board filled in with their favorite 9 pieces, likewise so should the hostess. Then you tell the hostess to start calling out her favorite 9 pieces in a random order. If a guest has the piece she is calling out, they are to put an "X" As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 14 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES on that box. The first person to get a tic-tac-toe (either vertical, horizontal or diagonal) will be the winner...but the winner must yell, "I LOVE (Your Company)!!!!!" Neighbor Game Have each guest get a partner and stand back-to-back (no sisters or mother and daughters as partners). They cannot look at each other. Have them number a piece of paper 1-14, and ask the following questions. If there are an uneven number of guests, have one stand back-to-back with you and play the game with her. What color hair does she have? What basic color is she wearing? How many rings does she have on? How many children does she have? Is she wearing a girdle? How old is she? Is she wearing shoes or sandals? What is her husband’s name? Is she wearing buttons? Is she wearing a watch? Does she have nail polish on? Is she wearing earrings? What is her favorite TV show? What color are her eyes? Have them check their answers. The guest with the most correct answers wins. Sly Game Ask guests to write the name of two friends, two relatives, two neighbors and two club members. The first one finished wins a prize. Explain to everyone else that their guest list is already made out for when they decide to have a party. Is that sly or what? Team Challenge Scavenger This is great to share with your guests at your show...I'm sure you'll get cooperation from them too!!! (First share it with your upline and ask them to allow you 15 of the 25 and get a prize. It’s even better when the upline leader puts out the additional challenge for those that complete them all. They get an extra special prize. (Most will agree!) When your guests help you meet your goal, give them something special, too! 1. Sly Game Ask guests to write the name of two friends, two relatives, two neighbors and two club members. The first one finished wins a prize. Explain to everyone else that their guest list is already made out for when they decide to have a party. Is that sly or what? Balloon Game As guests arrive they get the balloon. As I hand it to them I say, “this is yours for the evening. After all, what's a party without balloons and presents? Hang on to it and don't trade it away. You may be holding the special balloon.... it's yours!" If she asks any questions re: what's inside... just smile! When I open the show I casually remind them to hang onto their balloons and we will get to them later in the show... For the entire evening the women "own" the balloons and the gift inside. You will see them shaking the balloon and see the curiosity in her eyes. When doing the door prize slip and I get to #3 I say.... "Ok, ladies. You all have your balloons, and by now you have figured out that there is a special gift inside from me! If you decide to book a show this evening the gift is yours and you may pop your balloon to discover what you have won, otherwise you must return the balloon to me. If three of you pop your balloon then the hostess gets to pop hers as well." The wording here is key! There is not a person in that room who is not dying to know what her prize is... and not a single one who is thrilled to give you HER balloon back. And your hostess will also want to pop hers to see what HER MYSTERY prize is, so she will work to get others to pop theirs. They must bring their balloon to me with their order and pop the balloon with me. It works! Inside the balloons are various things; % off that night’s order, free hand lotion, free body lotion, free pick from your special basket... you decide how much you are willing to spend to "buy" a show... and then select items from catalog using that figure as a base. As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 16 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES "Free" Game Supplies needed: 2 or more decks of cards or tickets and your imagination. Tell all guests at the beginning of your show that whenever you say the word "Free", the first person who yells out "I want it", will get a card (give them the card face down, no peeking. If they peek, they must give the cards to the Hostess). At the end of the demo whoever has the most points wins. 2-10 are worth face value; K,Q,J's are worth 25 and Aces are worth 50 points, you can use jokers if you like and give them any value you want. Now to play: Make sure you mention the word "free" as many times as possible throughout your flip chart or program talk as well as product demonstration. Use phrases such as: You will receive $100 in FREE; this item is good for that "free" spot; when you have "free" time, wouldn't you like this for "free". I love to trick them, also. If they see on your flipchart the word free and they are ready to jump the gun, I will purposely substitute the words "at no cost" instead to get them going. If you can't tell who said it first? Give a card to anyone who said it. If there are quiet people at your party who refuse to speak up, then have one or two rounds where those who don't say "I want it" win a card. This game is great to keep the group’s complete and utmost attention. They hang on your every word to spring out of their seats! At the end they count up their cards and award a prize to the guests that have the highest and lowest totals or they are entered into the drawing. Ask Me About My Job For this game give tickets. Tell them they have 5 minutes to ask you any questions they have about your business and for each question they will get a ticket. This is best done after you have presented your career opportunity to them. Pass It On Hand a guest a wrapped game gift. Turn your back and tell them to start passing the gift around as fast (but carefully) as they can. When you say the party plan name, the passing stops, and the person with her hands on the box must sit down. Repeat this until only one person is left. She is the winner and gets the gift. As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 17 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES Mary Mall and Suzy Usborne First you need play money one hundred dollar bills. This is what I do at my shows. After I introduce myself, I thank the hostess, go over the hostess program, and ask for 2 volunteers to come up to stand next to me on either side. I turn to one and say that she is Mary Mall and she just started working at the mall p/t for some extra $. The other is Suzy (your company name) and she just started with (your company) for some extra $. They both work about 10 hrs a week. I base it on a $200 show 3 times a week. At the end of the first week Mary Mall made $100. She makes $10/ hour (very generous for the mall). Hand her $100. Suzy (your company name) made 300$ her first week, so hand her $300 and say awesome Mary!!! Do the same each week for 4 weeks, making a big deal over Suzy and not saying too much about Mary. At the end of 4 weeks, say because you did such a great job, Suzy, and brought in X amount of sales to the company they are going to give you several other bonuses. Then hand her another $500. Ask Mary to count her money, say nice job, and ask Suzy to count her money and she should have $1700. Ask her what she is going to do with her earnings. Thank them both and give each of them a gift and a top ten reason to become a (your company) consultant. I also tell the guests that the income is one of the reasons I joined (company). I just handed out 2 sponsoring packets, and got them thinking. Tic Tac Toe #2 1. 15 Adult guests in attendance 2. Have sales of $300 or more 3. Have one dated booking before your show starts 4. Repeat customers or former hostesses in attendance 5. Close your show the day/night of your show 6. Set a time to hear about the [company] opportunity before your show 7. Return guest list to me within 3 days of receipt 8. Personally invite everyone either in person or by phone 9. Have $100 in outside orders with payment before I arrive for your show. If you get one tic tac toe=one gift, two=two gifts, three=three gifts, full board=(product from your company) for free. Say Cheese Please... This is a cute game to get everybody smiling. How can you not have a good time when you’re smiling? Have each person smile as big and wide as they can. Measure and record their smiles. The biggest smile always wins. As presented by Hilary Jones at Usborne Books at Home National Convention 2012 Page 18 ADDING A DOSE OF FUN TO PARTIES Whoops! Give yourself 5 points for each one you have done at one time or another. Give the prize to the person with the LOWEST score – they are amazing!!! Locked yourself out of the house? Lost a member of the family while out shopping? Put something unusual in the refrigerator? Turned white colors pink (or another color) in the wash? Gone away from home and left the iron on? Put your heel thorough the hem of a dress? Had your zipper break in public? Gone somewhere with two different shoes or socks on? Remembered an appointment after it was too late? Called a member of your family by another name? Been ready to bathe and found no hot water? Fallen up the stairs? Gone shopping for groceries and discovered you did not bring any money with you? Driven away from somewhere while a member of your party was still out of the car? Dialed a phone number and forgot who you called? Locked the keys in your car? Got into the car to go somewhere and forgot where you were going? Put something in the oven to bake and forgot about it? Woke up in the morning and could not remember where you were? It’s Just One Word Have guests print the following across the top of a sheet of paper: DUTJSENOROW Tell guests “Unscramble it, it’s just one word.” They’ll ask for clues, but just say, “No, the only thing I can tell you is - it’s just one word.” Don’t ever say “make” one word out of it, because you can’t do that. The answer is: JUST ONE WORD. First person with the correct answer wins. Book It! Help the guests visualize! Pick a guest seated in a fairly large chair and start “piling on” the free merchandise she’d get with a $300 party. Ask another guest to keep a total on how much it all adds up to. Don’t forget to include Guest Club Gifts, Bonus Buys, Early Bonuses, or any other company specials. It’s sure to leave a super impression!
