Nursing CAS Applying to Del Mar College Nurse Education Program Prior to Applying • Student is responsible for meeting all criteria required for admission to Del Mar College • Complete prerequisites for Nursing o BIOL 2401, ENGL 1301, PSYC 2301, BIOL 2402 o A grade of C or higher, A&P II in the last 5 years o REM (Reading, English, Math) Level 3 • Pass the HESI Exam with 75% or better. Must complete Nursing CAS 3.0 Nursing CAS Application • Create an account • Make your program selection from Full Programs List - ONLY CHOOSE ONE TRACK Pathway Options • Unsure of which pathway is for you – meet with a Nursing Faculty Advisor. • Pathways to choose from o o o o AA-Registered Nurse BSN (BSN Bound)((70% of the class) AAS-Registered Nurse (25% of the class) Certificate- VN (5% of the class) AAS- LVN to RN transition (10-25 students) FALL ONLY Nursing CAS Application • Dashboard shows items to be completed Blue box will take you back to Dashboard Nursing CAS Dashboard SubmiCing Documents • Transcripts are submitted to Nursing CAS by printing a “Transcript Request Form” • Transcript Request Form is submitted to the Registrar at the college you are requesting a transcript from– you can not attach transcript yourself SubmiCing Documents • Must be an official transcript. • All information from all transcript(s) must be entered by the student into Nursing CAS. • Regardless of where you have attended, we do not have access to your transcript for NursingCAS. • Only completed degree plan coursework is reviewed as part of the admission requirements. • Keep copy of your HESI scores to submit on NursingCAS. SubmiCing HESI Scores SubmiCing HESI Scores Retaking the HESI • If you did not pass the HESI on your first attempt, you can still submit your application. • REMEMBER – only verified applications will be reviewed for admission. It is important that you submit your application and the required items ASAP. • Upload your HESI scores reflecting that you did not pass and submit your application on NursingCAS. You can then retake the HESI before the deadline and we will verify whether you passed. Admission Decisions • Students typically receive notice of their admission status 6 weeks – 2 months after admissions deadline • Generally, 60-65 students are selected each semester. • Admission to the program is determined by admission points. Points are determined from HESI scores, Program GPA, number of degree plan courses completed. • Additional points are added for having successfully completed HPRS 1204 and 1106, RNSG 1201, English 1302, (within last 2 years) and CNA certification.
