Lunch Meeting
Tuesday, 29 September 2015
Presentation and Two Course Lunch: 12:00-14:00
Aperitif at 12:00; presentation and lunch from 12:30
Swissôtel Metropole, Geneva
Speaker: Larysa Melnychuk, Managing Director, AFP FP&A Club
Subject: Financial Planning and Analysis : Latest Trends
New technologies and ‘big data’ software
interrogation tools mean that numbers can be
crunched and accurate scenarios run thanks to the
rise of cheap ‘big computing’ power.
Traditional methods of budgeting and planning are
no longer fit for the purposes and challenges of the
21st Century.
In order to deliver a competitive advantage to a
company, the modern FP&A function needs to be
quick, flexible and dynamic, to have a basis in
sophisticated analytics, and be able to look at lifetime values for products and projects, while
encouraging business partnering where possible.
As Charles Darwin famously said: “It is not the
strongest of the species that survive, nor the most
intelligent; it is the one that is most adaptable to
change”. It is as well to bear this quote in mind
when assessing your company's FP&A function.
Larysa Melnychuk will share with you her view on
where FP&A/ Business Control function is heading
in the era of Black Swans and Perfect Storms.
Larysa Melnychuk is managing director of the FP&A
Club, AFP. The financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
Club aims to bring together the knowledge and
experience of FP&A professionals and aid the
development of best practice in FP&A. Larysa was
working at senior FP&A positions for Invensys plc, Ace
Group, Key Bank and HSBC Bank before setting up and
running the FP&A Club in 2013 and driving its
expansion into 7 countries in Europe and Middle East.
She has more than 15 years’ experience in financial
planning and analysis (FP&A). In her career she has
implemented a number of innovative FP&A projects
including the introduction of survival analysis techniques
into the FP&A model; the development of risk adjusted
profitability concepts; and the management of
multimillion activity-based costing projects, etc.
Melnychuk is a member of the FP&A exam writing team
for the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP)
financial planning and analysis (FP&A) certification,
which was launched in 2014. She holds a Master of
Science (MSc) degree from Kiev Technical University
(KPI), and is a qualified chartered management
accountant (CIMA), chartered global management
accountant (CGMA) and is a holder of FP&A
certification.
