Mission: To deliver dignity and unlock opportunity for those experiencing homelessness — one mobile shower at a time. Fundamental to this mission are three beliefs: 1. Everyone has the right to be clean. 2. Those experiencing homelessness can’t access jobs and housing or maintain health and wellbeing if they can’t get clean. 3. Post Exposure Profalaxis at city clinic 415-487-5500 (see info below) Post-Exposure Prevention (PEP) at CITY CLINIC 356 7th Street btw.Harrison & Folsom PEP is a 28-day course of treatment believed to be effective in preventing an infection with HIV. At City Clinic, we offer expert evaluation within 72 hours of a possible exposure to HIV. It is important to come in as soon as possible after you think you have been exposed. You can call (415) 487-5538 to discuss your situation with a counselor before coming to the clinic for services. Once you arrive at the clinic, you will meet with a clinician who will evaluate whether PEP is appropriate for you & if so, will discuss which medications are used. You will also receive counseling from a trained PEP counselor, get tested for HIV & STDs, & receive a schedule for follow-up appointments at 1 month and 3 months. A full course of PEP is 28 days of medication. City Clinic walk-in hours for PEP services are: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm Tuesday 1:00pm - 5:00pm & Thursday 1:00pm - 3:00pm For more information concerning post-exposure prevention, click to UCSF's HIVINsite.org & search for PEP. Please note that City Clinic cannot provide a full course (28 days) of PEP medications for any patient. Because it is important not to delay starting the medications, if a City Clinic clinician recommends that you take PEP you will be given 2 days worth of medication in clinic to start right away with a prescription for the remaining doses. PEP counseling staff will then work with you to discuss best options for obtaining the rest of the medications. San Francisco residents who meet income eligibility requirements have some options for obtaining these medications at low cost. For those with health insurance, many plans will cover the cost of the medications. Call 415-487-5538 to discuss your eligibility. GET EXERCISE AND MEET NEW FRIENDS San Francisco City Steps http://www.meetup.com/San-Francisco-City-Steps/ One day if I do go to heaven--I'll look around and say, 'It ain't bad, but it ain't San Francisco."--Herb Caen The ocean, the bay, and all that's in between. Impressive hills, hidden staircases, picturesque neighborhoods, historic architecture, awe-inspiring views, nature in the city, local history, colorful characters... Let's explore it all together! This group is about meeting new people, getting a little exercise, and enjoying our beautiful city. All walks are free. Walking in San Francisco for Health and History Meetup Group http://www.meetup.com/walking-in-SF/ This group offers a monthly 5 Free San Francisco Museums Walk that sounds great! Walking or hiking. Meet other local people who are interested in walking or hiking for fitness and learning about San Francisco's history, including its movie history. This walking group is unique. It is primarily a health group with a dash of history talk for flavor. It is for people in average physical shape who need restroom stops and not for athletes or people with serious medical conditions. Introvert Slowcial http://www.meetup.com/slowcial/ Introverts Unite! Welcome to the Slowcial: a Slow Social. An introvert is a person who recharges by being alone. This is a place for people who are broadening their social worlds slowly. Slow success: Solitude is a catalyst for innovation. We are people who create our worlds rather than bowing to social pressure. This is not a pity party. Meetings will be in San Francisco in a quiet library meeting room near public transport, and require RSVP. Social dinners may follow. This group is for adults (21+) in the San Francisco Bay Area. There is no charge to attend. Freaks, geeks, and people overcoming all sorts of challenges are welcome. Even and especially those who show up as normal and well adjusted! The leader of the group is a person who stutters and runs this group as a labor of love for his people. To maintain focus, intimacy, and confidentiality, the only requirement is that you consider yourself an introvert (being unsure is fine). We have a structured meeting format to allow everyone to contribute equally. The intention is supporting each other by discussing how to thrive in wider society as well as how to live in less conventional ways that are attuned to our uniqueness, forming social connections with others who also thrive with slow socialization. We're 290 Slowcializers San Francisco Bay Area Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) Group http://www.meetup.com/San-Francisco-Bay-Area-Highly-Sensitive-Person-HSP-Group/ It is our hope that this group be about connection, fellowship and friendship with other members of our "tribe." For any number of reasons, many HSPs say they often feel socially isolated, and we'd like to help offer a "safe venue" to overcome that. Please understand that this is a social and friendship group, NOT a therapy or mental health support group. We're 509 Sensitive People Bay Area Social Anxiety & Board Games http://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Social-Anxiety-Board-Games/ Looking for a relaxed, judgment-free setting? This group hopes to bring together anyone with social anxiety/social phobia/shyness in the Bay Area. Our theme will be... board games! Even if you aren't a big board gamer, I urge you come anyhow. Let's all practice learning how to be comfortable in our own skin while doing something fun. We're 80 Socially Anxious Board Gamers Bay Area Forever Alones http://www.meetup.com/baforeveralones/ Are you shy? Do your people skills suck? Do you have a hard time making new friends? Are you tired of your friends trying to "fix" you by telling you to relax, be more outgoing, in other words, "get over your shyness" ? Do you wish you could hang with a group of people who understand you, who won't judge you for being quiet, for how you look, for how you smell, (ok, please don't stink), or if you say the wrong things, or don't say anything at all - in short - for being socially awkward? Have you ever read such a long-winded string of questions? This the group for the socially awkward, whether you're single or married, straight or gay, left-handed or wrong-handed, dead or alive. We are those who have social anxiety; the people who have interesting things to say, but can't manage to say them in large groups. Activities include anything fun and interesting: hiking, watching sport, just hanging out @ bars, indoor skydiving, dining out, wine tasting, staring contests, forming small groups for travel excursions. Whatever we decide to do, one thing's certain: we'll make sure to have plenty of awkward silence. You don't have to be a geek, a nerd, a software engineer, or a redditor to join the group. You just need to have a healthy dose of social anxiety. We're 655 Forever Alones PLUS (Positive Living for US) If you are newly dealing with HIV, want more info on living healthy, and/or are looking for support, this is the place for you. Our next PLUS weekend will be January 31st and February 1st. Contact the Positive Force team [email protected] to reserve your spot or to learn more. Most guys come to PLUS looking for info. We invite experts to present on a range of topics about living healthy with HIV. Sessions typically include HIV Treatment, HIV Life Cycle, Mental Health, Nutrition, SelfAdvocacy, and Sexually Transmitted Infections, among others. Participants also learn from each other's experiences. While most come for info, they leave a weekend at which they felt totally supported. Four times during the weekend, the educational sessions break into small groups that offer participants an opportunity to give and get support. Facilitated by guys who have been through PLUS in the past, the small support sessions provide a space of unconditional acceptance, arguably the most important part of PLUS. For two decades, the Positive Living for Us Seminar (PLUS) has been a key component of the HIV services landscape in San Francisco. PLUS combines support and info into one inspiring weekend for gay, bisexual, and transgender men who are new to dealing with HIV, whether newly diagnosed or addressing HIV in a new way, and their allies. One PLUS participant had this to say about the seminar: “I just wanted to send you a thank-you for a great weekend. As I said at the closing circle, I got exactly what I was looking for: • • • Education about the virus and treatment options Opportunities to get my personal questions answered, from experts and veterans Networking with others This was a very impactful weekend, and the timing could not have been better for someone like me as a recently diagnosed person. I really was impressed with all the organizers’ passion and commitment to helping the community.” New to the Broke but Not Bored… For Women!
