Daily Prayer Diary for the Diocese of St Albans 28th December – 31st March 2015 Dear Friends and Colleagues, Thank you to you, and you, and you, and you… (To mis-quote the Sound of Music!) In recent months, a whole host of different people have thanked me for this Daily Prayer Diary, saying that it helps them to feel more connected with the Diocese. Giving thanks for specific areas of life in each of our Parishes, as well as praying for others areas too, informs those things for which they pray – and people have expressed their gratitude for this. Last year was a year of expressing our gratitude for the current formation of our Diocese – particularly through the Celebrate100 Services and events that took place right across the Diocese. The opportunity given to meet and make friends in the setting of celebration was one that so many people enjoyed. Giving thanks for all that has been achieved across our Diocese during the past one hundred years afforded the chance to reflect on the works undertaken in the fields of Transforming Communities, Going Deeper into God, and Making New Disciples. Exploring all that has been achieved in these areas through the life and witness of our forebears in faith in this Diocese will, if we are humble and wise, give rise to the prayer that we might each be open to discover ways in which we might continue and thus build on the work that they, through the Grace of God, accomplished for the bringing in of God’s Kingdom. Let us join in Prayers of Thanksgiving for the gift that each of us is to the other and for all that we can share with and learn from one other. Let us also join in Prayers of Intercession for one another, for courage to deepen our faith, broaden our witness and grow in holiness and peace. Thank you to those of you who send in the prayer pointers for the Diary, as this helps us to be more connected in prayer. I hope you value the prayers of others just as much as those who have expressed their gratitude to me for the Diary as a whole. It isn’t just down to me, it is down to all of us – and especially Sarah and Lynne (see the last Diary for details of why!) This comes with continued prayer and good wishes, Deborah Deborah Snowball [email protected] ACP = Anglican Cycle of Prayer; Suff = Suffragan; E-P = Extra Provincial Suggested texts for the week are taken from taken from the Gospel Reading for the Sunday Communion Service.
