Age: Students must not be 19 years of age before 1st January 2015. 2. Students should: (a) have passed SC with a minimum of three (3) Credits obtained at one and the same sitting. (b) have obtained G.C.E “O” Level in five (5) Subjects with a minimum of Grade C in three (3) subjects and at least a Grade E in English at one and the same sitting. (c) have credits in each of the subjects to be taken at principal level. Availability of Subject Combinations The subjects on offer in any school depends on: 1. there being staff available 2. there being sufficient demand to form a viable class 3. that the options given can be timetabled. B. Eligibility for State of Mauritius Scholarships To be eligible for the State of Mauritius Scholarships, students must study at school: 1. General Paper Subsidiary 2. One other Subsidiary subject 3. Three Principal subjects from one of the Sections I, II, III and IV. Students must also satisfy a number of other criteria, including: 1. have a minimum of six credits, including English language, at one sitting (or five credits at one sitting and a sixth at a later sitting. Again English language must be one of the subjects) 2. not have more than 10 days of absence from school in the Lower Sixth or Upper Six without due cause. 3. not have reached the age of 20 before the 1st July in the year that the student takes the HSC exams. SECTION I – ART SIDE (Scholarship Combination) At Principal level, three subjects, being subjects included in the school course provided by the school at which the candidate is a pupil, to be chosen from the following: Literature in English, French, Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Telegu, Marathi, Chinese, German, Arabic, Hinduism, Islamic Studies, History, Geography, Mathematics or Further Mathematics, Sociology, Art, Music. SECTION II – SCIENCE SIDE (Scholarship Combination) At Principal level, three subjects, being subjects included in the school course provided by the school at which candidate is a pupil, to be chosen from the following: Mathematics or Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computing, Biology, Geography. SECTION III – ECONOMICS SIDE (Scholarship Combination) At Principal level, three subjects, being subjects included in the school course provided by the school at which the candidate is a pupil, to be chosen as follows: 1. Economics, and 2. Two of the following subjects: Mathematics or Further Mathematics, Geography, History, Accounting, Business Studies, Sociology, Law, Computing, one of the Languages listed in Section I or a Science Subject. SECTION IV – TECHNICAL SIDE (Scholarship Combination) At Principal level, three subjects, being subjects included in the school course provided by the school at which the candidate is a pupil, to be chosen from Sections (a) and (b) and including at least one subject from each Section: (a) Design and Technology, Geometrical and Mechanical Drawing, Art (including Paper 6, Craft B), Dress and Textiles, Food Studies. (b) Mathematics or Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computing, Biology. C. Subsidiary Level: Arabic, Biology, English, Environmental Management, French, Islamic Studies, Mathematics, Sociology, Travel & Tourism, Urdu, Arabic Students should choose one (1) subject from each POOL A, B, C at Principal Level and one (1) subject from Subsidiary Level.
