PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF CONSECRATED LIFE O God, throughout the ages you have called women and men to pursue lives of perfect charity through the evangelical counsels of poverty, chasitiy, and obedience. During this Year of Consecrated Life, we give you thanks for these courageous witnesses of Faith and models of inspiration. Their pursuit of holy lives teaches us to make a more perfect offering of ourselves to you. Continue to enrich your Church by calling forth sons and daughters who, having found the pearl of great price, treasure the Kingdom of Heaven above all things. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen. SUNDAY: 1 FEBRUARY: THE FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME From the Pastor “My heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.” Romans 10:1 Mes chers amis, This year, the Church is observing the Year of Consecrated Life, highlighting the beautiful vocation to Religious Life, which is essential to the Church and the world. Our parish and school have been blessed to provide the Church with Priests, Deacons, and Sisters. Throughout its 161 years, there have been six Priests ordained from Sacred Heart, and we are blessed to have one current seminarian discerning the Priesthood. There have also been three Deacons. Finally, there have been fourteen sisters, one of whom recently died. We remember Sr. Judith Dayle Coreil’s soul in our prayers. Not long ago, I was reminded of the little, yet powerful ways Religious Sisters impact the world we live in. The most recent alumna of Sacred Heart School to enter Religious Life, Sr. Mary Magdalene (Kaysie) Soileau, OP, is currently serving in Australia. This is a message about her sent to the Dominican Sisters of Nashville who serve in Sydney, Australia: Spirit as it surely tried to plant the seeds of curiosity in the minds of those souls she passed. With such elegance and such witness she moved unaware of the distraction she caused in my soul. I am not sure who will read this email, but if grace would allow you to be enlightened as to who this sister was, who witnessed so much the love Christ to me on that day and one hour after noon, please share her my tale. Yours in Christ, Jeff Amazing! There were no words spoken…no signals intentionally given…and yet, without knowing it, the Dominican habit and person of Sr. Mary Magdalene (Kaysie) proclaimed the truth of Christ and the beauty of His Church in a way which touched the mind of soul of at least one man that day. Please continue to pray for Sr. Mary Magdalene and for all those who have generously given themselves to Christ and His Church in Religious Life. During this Year of Consecrated Life in particular, we pray for the renewal of Religious Life, and that the Lord would richly bless all Religious Brothers and Sisters with His grace and blessing. Dans le Sacré Cœur du Christ, Fr. Vidrine Dear Sister, My wife and I are enormous fans of your order, we hold your needs regularly in our prayers. My prayer specifically is that your order continues to gather spiritual momentum in this country, and provide witness to all Australians the truth and majesty of our Catholic Faith, and more specifically to the love that is available on simple request of merciful love of Christ, by asking our heavenly mother, Mary, Queen of all our hearts. PLEASE REMEMBER THE SICK IN YOUR PRAYERS: Ashley Bordelon, Jim Briley, Greta Brown, Nicki Davenport, Jeanor Fontenot, Kristen Smith Fontenot, Theresa Fontenot, Beverly Guillory, Lou Ella Laneaux, Bernita Soileau, Charles Vidrine, Letitia Vidrine, and Tilden “Meg” Vidrine. Returned to Christ through death, our prayers and sincere condolences are offered to the families of: Hilda Fontenot DeBaillon and Rollace James Chapman I wanted to share with you something wonderful. STEWARDSHIP OF FINANCES It was December 4, towards the end of the 2014 and I was on a business trip to Sydney, and my plane was delayed by two hours. On my way from Mascot Airport, I had to make a dash for my train to Chatswood, and as I ran for my train and as I was getting aboard, out from the other end of my carriage a beautiful, rare but extraordinary sight befell by eyes. I witnessed one of your beautiful sisters taking flight from the other carriage, and as she raced for the stairs, she caught my sight, with her black veil flapping in the air. I saw her running down the stairs, her rosary beads, now a pendulum, trying moving to the beat of steps. She moved amongst a world that would have noticed that she was different, but not understood the powerful force of the Holy SACRED HEART: CHURCH IN LATIN AMERICA: $5,163.00 $591.00 BELAIRE COVE CHURCH IN LATIN AMERICA: $494.00 $28.00 Advertiser of the Week Please do not forget! Last year, our parish implemented – as required by state law and the Diocese of Lafayette – cemetery rules and regulations. The reason for the additional envelopes in the year is to generate funds for the upkeep and maintenance of the parish cemetery. We have decided to include these envelopes as a way to NOT TO HAVE TO IMPLEMENT THE ANNUAL CEMETERY DUES. This collection is voluntary and there is NO specific amount. We simply ask that if you have someone buried in either the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery or the Sacred Heart Church Belaire Cove Chapel Cemetery, or as a means of showing your respect for the deceased members of our parish, that you make a donation to this collection. This is the means by which we are able to generate funds for the upkeep and maintenance of our parish cemeteries, which is not supplemented by the monthly building and maintenance fund. Thank you for your generosity. Sacred Heart sanctuary light in memory of: Ruth M. Ardoin TUESDAY, 3 FEBRUARY 2015 6:30 a.m.: GERVIS ROBERIE, MR. & MRS.
