It took just 19 minutes for Commodore Bill Burke to run an efficient
business meeting with updates and
a positive Treasurer’s report. Nearly 80 people attended the meeting,
and all seemed pleased with the
direction of the Club. Bill reviewed
the accomplishments over the past
year and complimented Lindsay on
the success of topside events and
his efforts to improve the Club’s
finances. Bill pointed to the fresh
paint and new lighting topside that
will help attract more events and
thanked Dominic Velardi for the
new carpeting. There were only
two items that Bill would have like
to have checked off in 2014: the
completion of repairs to the North
shed roof and the renovations of
the men’s and ladies’ bathrooms..
While the roof repairs were completed just last week (see page 3),
the bathrooms remain in need of
facelifts.
Since all nominees for Board positions were unopposed, the ballot
was dispensed with, and all candidates were elected by acclimation.
Bill thanked outgoing Board member Armondo Schoener and outgoing Secretary Marily DeWall.
There were three nominees for the
2015 Nominations Committee that
will elect the 2016 Board officers
and members. Those committee
members are Sue Johnson, Mike
Hatchett, and John Cooke.
The next Board of Directors meeting is Thursday, February 19, 7pm.

WYCC Committee News
Ahoy First Mates!
What a fabulous turnout we had to
kick off 2015! Thank you for your
support, and we need to see everyone plus many more on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, 6:30pm,
topside. We will be ironing out
some details on the projects discussed last time, as well as nailing
down our fundraising endeavors to
get them on the Club calendar.
Chairing or co-chairing an event is
your best way to show your leadership and enthusiasm for our Club.
Our FUN activity for the evening
will allow us to get to know one another better…and laugh a lot! You
need to bring NOTHING! See you
on the 11th, and bring another
member with you.
From the Helm
Sue Johnson, President
WYCC First Mates
Sea Turtles Families, on the
evening of February 18th, we will
hold a mid-winter team planning
session for the 2015 summer, 6:30
pm, in the small topside room. All
Sea Turtle and prospective Sea
Turtle parents are welcome to attend. Please enter from the side
dining room entrance so as not to
disturb the event in the larger
room. Also mark your calendar for
the following GPSA dates: MiniMeet (July 18th) and City Meet
(August 1st). If you have any questions, please contact Kari Nunez,
Swim Team Committee Chair,
[email protected].
Wanted: Committee Members
Please get in touch with Lindsay if
you are willing to serve on the
Social Committee and help plan
events for the Club.

all had entries in the City Science
Fair. Photo by Kari Nunez.
No experience necessary,
just an interest in the Club
and its activities. Familiarity with a software program
such as Page Maker or
Publisher would be helpful.
If you’re interested and can
commit to spending several
hours each month, please
contact Marily DeWall by
