CARING CORNER REPORT
Brothers and Sisters,
We ended the old year by several visits at Hillcrest
where we saw Bonnie Younk and Bobby Peterson.
Hello Aerie & Auxiliary Members,
Happy New Year!
The accomplishments during our term at this
time are outstanding from all the support
provided by our members. The Membership
Committees are above 50% for the annual goal
and half the term to go. The success of the
Children’s Christmas Party, Angel Tree,
Veterans Day Breakfast and the list goes on
and on and on…….
Thank you to all the volunteers that make the
difference here at your Aerie home.
Fraternally,
Tom Robertson - Worthy President

Deb Robertson - Madam President

AERIE
Brothers,
As of December 9, 2014, we have
signed up 47 new or re-enrolled members.
That’s 75% of our quota. Since we are ½ way
through our year, we are doing great! Keep up
the good work.
AUXILIARY
Hoot! Hoot! Sisters,
As we continue actively in our
membership year, we see 46 new members
and/or applicants have been signed up to date.
(Check the Membership Board on the South
wall of the Social Room) We are getting very
close to our goal of 60! Now that is something
to “HOOT” about!
Sisters, you are doing a fantastic job!
Let’s say “Owl do it for Merri and NE” and keep
signing up new, re-enrolled or “dropped”
members. By the way, if a member was
dropped, find out why, maybe we can help and
when this person rejoins she might end up
being one of the strongest members we have.
Yes, that is a great idea! Please do
invite your newly initiated sister to come to a
meeting with you. Help her get acquainted
with other members and if she wishes to help
with functions direct her to someone who is
Chairing an upcoming function.
At our February meeting we will begin a
50/50 jar which will run through the end of our
Eagle year. Half of the money will go to the
WINNER and the other half will go to
MEMBERSHIP. Good Luck!
C U Soon! God Bless and Keep Smiling!
We have so much to be thankful for and lots to
smile about.
Anita, Membership Chairperson
During January, we are still waiving
initiation and re-enrollment fees. So, talk with
your relatives and friends about the benefits of
being an Eagle. Remember to mention our
contributions to the Diabetes Researching
Center, all of our charities and the Memorial
Foundation. These are great reasons to join
our fraternity.
Larry Strickler, Membership Chairman
LEW REED CHARITY EVENTS
Every year, January is set aside for our Lew
Reed Spinal Cord Injury Charity events. This
year we will have a weekend of events to raise
money for this great charity. The Fraternal
Order of Eagles is very excited to help raise
money this year for the new exoskeleton bionic
suits. These suits are helping paralyzed
patients walk again.
On January 31, 2015 there will be a Texas
Hold ‘Em Tournament held from 3:00 to 7:00
p.m. Then on February 1, 2015 we will have
an all-you-can eat pancake breakfast along
with our regular fare. We will also have raffles
and a 50/50 drawing. Mark your calendars
now for a fun-filled weekend of friendly cards
and a delicious breakfast. See the flier with
this newsletter edition!
Roger & Sharon Graham, Chairmen

PHASE I – AERIE HOME PAINTING
A call was put out on Facebook and by word of
mouth that on Saturday November 22nd there
was going to be a spruce-up-your Aerie day.
Volunteers were asked to come to the Aerie
home at 8:00 a.m. to help wash walls, wood
work, light fixtures and paint.
Volunteers:
Remember, we are all volunteers! Things
happen sometimes and here is an example.
See what happens when you complain
about your eggs always on a small plate!
You end up with two scrambled eggs on a
serving platter! Big enough plate for ya?
What a fantastic response. Numerous
volunteers showed up and the dining room
looks amazing. The walls have been painted a
neutral color and the wall sconces have been
updated. If you have not been to the Aerie
lately please take time to stop in and see the
changes as they happen. There will be
another chance after the first of the year as the
social room is the next room to be spruced up.
Just proves that we have an Awesome
Membership that cares about their Aerie home.
Way to go volunteers!
So let’s remember this is your club and we are
all volunteers……. Nothing wrong with a little
fun, humor and “I got ya!”….

THANK YOU CORNER
Wings, Rings and Things!
I would like to thank the Aerie trustees for
allowing me the chance to do Wings, Rings
and Things during Monday Night Football. We
started way back in September and for 16
weeks; we have served up baskets of wings,
hand battered rings and many things to eat
every Monday night. We had a few missteps
along the way but it was a learning process. A
special thank you to Annette Strickler for being
our wait person extraordinaire! Thank you to
Patrick O’Connor and Zac Nisley who have
helped out since the second week when we
found out that there was more than just a little
interest in this endeavor. We could not have
done it without you! And the biggest thank you
of all is to the members that came in and
supported us during the season. The proceeds
from these nights go to the Nebraska State
Presidents Charity – Children’s Hospital
Pediatric Specialty Unit.
Teri O’Connor
Additional Thank You:
Many thanks to Gary Barrett, Joe O’Shea and
Joe’s granddaughter for decorating the
Christmas tree on the dance floor
And
DeDe Kielion, who always does a fantastic job
decorating the social room
And
And
The family of the late Robert Niemier, who had
memorials donated to the club in Bob’s
memory.
Thank you to Jimmy Ewing who donated the
beautiful porcelain Eagle.
Kitchen Fund
Thank you to the Robert Niemier Family for
donation to the Kitchen Fund.
