In February, when it’s NOT “Summertime,” and the livin’ is chilly, when the weather “ has you low and has you down,”
mark your calendar to come to the Baum Center production of “Remembering George Gershwin, An American Musical
Genius.” You’re sure to know many of his songs – and many of the performers!
The play is set in Gershwin’s New York City apartment in the 1920’s and 1930’s, a time of energy and excitement when
there was a surge in American popular music. The Gershwin brothers George and Ira (lyricist) were at the forefront of this
jazz phenomenon , and left us enduring examples of the era.
The play will be presented at 7:00 pm on Thursday and Friday, February 19 and 20, and at 2:00pm on Saturday,
February 21, at the Baum Center in Kill Devil Hills. Tickets are $5.00 and will be on sale at the Baum Center beginning
February 2 (Mondays and Wednesdays, 9am to 1 pm, until the show). You may also purchase tickets at the door.
Please join us for an evening of music and fun! We got rhythm, we got music, “who could ask for anything more?”

The Baum Center needs back-up volunteers for Home Delivered Meals.
Help to Promote, maintain, and improve the health and well-being of older adults through the provision of a nutritionally
balanced meal five days per week delivered to the home. Reduce the isolation experienced by many older adults through
opportunities for social interaction by participating in the nutrition program. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday. If
you can donate one hour a month, please contact the Nutrition Site Coordinator, Mary Jernigan, at 475-5637.
