The 4th Bali International Choir Festival will be held again in 2015 in Denpasar - Bali. The last festival attracted
more participation from various community choirs in Indonesia and overseas countries.
In addition to being a benchmark for choral achievement, BICF has become a performance arena for new
choirs from various regions in Indonesia. BICF provides not only various competition categories and an
evaluative assessment system but also education. Before the competition, a choir clinic is provided for choirs
to improve their performance and there is a feedback session from the experts after the performance.

and develop friendships with other participants. With the beauty of tourism in Bali, joy and sweet memories,
and all the activities, this event is a perfect combination of the interaction between the love of art, performance,
friendship and fun.
We invite all choir groups to participate in the 4th Bali International Choir Festival 2015, to discover for
themselves all the fun and memories that have been felt by other choirs.
Join the choir competition and various activities around events such as workshops, a choir clinic, a friendship
concert and a special program for 2015: the INDONESIA YOUTH CHOIR will be lead by an internationallyrenowned conductor.

Dear choral friend,
For the last three years, historic events have taken place in Bali with more than a hundred choirs a year,
thousands of singers, several conductors, and clinicians. These events were the first three Bali International
Choir Festivals. Building on the success of the 2012, 2013, and 2014 festivals, we are organizing the fourth
festival to take place at the end of July 2015. Bali is a real paradise, and for the fourth time this world-class
choral event will be held on the island. Yet again, the Bandung Choral Society has committed itself to organize
a successful event.

Participating choirs will be giving concert performances; participants may gain an understanding of Balinese
music and dance, collaborate with local and international choirs, and have clinics with distinguished European,
Asian, and American clinicians. For international choirs, making music on this magical island with excellent
local choirs and enjoying the heart-warming spirituality of Balinese culture is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,
and I hope to be able to welcome you to this event.
If you have been to an Indonesian choral festival before, you will know how wonderfully well it is organized and
how expert and comprehensive the presentations are. Through workshops, clinics, and the competition you
will be challenged to rise to a new level of excellence and humanity. Thus, BICF provides opportunities that
exceed the simple acquisition of skills, engaging the imagination and the creative spirit.

For us, Spensix Surabaya Choir - a choir from Junior High School – 6 in Surabaya, participating in the 3rd BICF is an extraordinary moment. Many good quality
and enjoyable performances. Thanks to Tommyanto and the committee that gave us the opportunity to perform at the Opening Ceremony, an occasion that is
unforgettable. Thanks to God that we can get the Gold medal award 2nd place in the Championship Teenager Category, all because of God's extraordinary

All Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass ages 17-26 years old who pass the audition. Participants who have a
passion and enthusiasm for learning along with other singers in Bali may come from within and outside the
country.
Benefit
Bandung Choral Society proudly presents the Indonesian Youth Choir (IYC) among the activities of the 4th
Bali International Choir Festival 2015. IYC is designed by Bandung Choral Society. IYC is a choir which will
formed in 2015 as a forum for the development of the young generation in the Indonesia choral field.
Through the Indonesian Youth Choir it is expected that all participants will:
1. Experience choir rehearsals with a world-renowned conductor and members, to understand and master
the choir’s singing technique.
2. Develop knowledge and understanding of various choral compositions, both for musical interpretation
and performing skill.
3. Be part of a new choir generation, with good character and attitude, willing to learn and to share
knowledge.
4. Develop friendships between young musicians from various parts of Indonesia and other countries
involved, so that mutual understanding can be built in various aspects of life.
5. Build a good network for cooperation, information exchange and understanding between cultures and
nationalities.
6. Inspire other musicians to grow and work, entertain, and provide musical, cultural, and spiritual
enrichment through good quality choral performances.
7. Become enriched in knowledge, skills and choir training techniques.
Each participant will receive a certificate of participation in the Indonesian Youth Choir - The First Generation.
Concert
This project will be led by choral experts from various countries and the results will be performed at:
 Opening Concert – 4th BICF, 29 July 2015.
 IYC Concert – 4th BICF. 2 August 2015.
Registration
Registration for IYC will close on Friday, 30 January 2015.
Audition results will be announced on March 2015.

1. IYC registration form that has been filled out completely and correctly
(can be downloaded either by contacting via e-mail or on the website)
2. Recent good quality photo postcard of yourself to be printed in the program book, the website, and
listed on your ID card (portrait min size 2Mb and 300 dpi)
3. Youtube link of audition material according to the following order:
 Part – 1.
Speak clearly and slowly: full name as written on your id card, age, and voice type
( Soprano / Alto / Tenor / Bass )
 Part – 2.
Scales on the vowel "A" which show the lowest and highest notes in your range
(record no more than 1 minute)
For Soprano and Tenor: from tone of C, with major scale (do re mi fa sol la si do)
up to the highest pitch you can sing.
For Alto and Bass: From tone C, down with major scale (do-si la sol fa mi re do)
to the lowest pitch you can sing.
 Part – 3.
Sing 1 (one) solo song (aria, Lieder or other songs) that show maximum artistic ability.
Allowed to use musical accompaniment or a capella.
 Part – 4.
Sing Locus ISTE - Anton Bruckner a cappella according to your voice type with Tempo: Allegro
Moderato ♩ = 92
 After all parts are recorded, rename video file with the format "IYC_your full name_Voice Type."
Example: IYC_Petrick Luandy Salhuteru_Tenor. Upload the file to www.youtube.com.
After the upload is complete, send the youtube video link via e-mail.

Preparing the Audition Recording.
1. Please study and prepare all the music before starting the recording.
2. Find a quiet place to record.
3. Adjust the position of the recorder so that the face and body are clearly recorded.
4. Adjust the lighting in the room during the recording to make sure facial expressions can be seen
well.
5. You may use the music sheet while recording.
6. Adjust the volume from musical instruments so they can be heard in the recording.
Cost
This program is free.
The committee will provide the accommodation, meals, and local transportation during the camp in Bali.
Each participant is willing to:
 Provide their own transportation or plane ticket from their place to Denpasar – Bali and return,
 Stay in Bali for IYC camp from 25 July to 2 August 2015 as scheduled.

Choirs who register for the Evaluation Concert can perform a free program of songs showing the best quality
of your choir in 15 minutes. After the performance, the choir will be given an evaluation from international
speakers. The schedule for the Evaluation Concert will be given after registration. Each choir that
successfully participates will receive a certificate of participation as well as a recommendation to follow the
Choir Competition or Choir Championship in other Bandung Choral Society's events.

C. Friendship Concert
Friendship Concert participants can perform a free program of songs that show the best musicality of your
choir in 15 minutes. You will be performing along with other choirs from various places in Indonesia and the
world. The Friendship Concert builds friendship among choirs and also can show the vision and mission of
the choir. Each choir who successfully performs at this activity will receive a certificate of participation for the
BICF 4th Bali Friendship Concert.
Schedule
Schedule and location of Friendship Concert performances will be given after registration.

Participant
Open to all choirs from Indonesia or abroad, including newly-formed choirs, that would like to gain the
experience of performing in an international choir competition.
This activity is open to groups with a minimum number of 16 singers, except the vocal group category may
be open to groups with 4 to 12 singers.
Benefit
Choirs that register for this event will have an excellent opportunity to participate in the choir competition and
be evaluated by the international jury. All participants that successfully perform in the Bali International Choir
Competition will receive a choir competition medal and certificate, and the category champions will receive a
trophy.

artistic quality of the participants.
 Choreography is allowed, but not mandatory.
 In the CO-01, 02, 03 and 04 categories, song selection and difficulty should be adjusted for

 10% of the singers may be 1 year older than the prescribed age limit.

Category Winner
Choirs with a Competition Gold Medal who achieve the highest scores in each category will be rewarded
with a gold medal, a certificate and a Category Winner trophy.
Special Jury Award
Judges will give a special award for outstanding artistic achievement, if any. A conductor who shows
outstanding performance, if any, will be given the award "Outstanding Conductor Award."
Choir Championship Qualification.
All choirs with a Competition Gold Medal and a minimum total score of 33,01 will qualify to perform at the
BCS Next Event – the Bali International Choir Championship.

All choirs that have participated in a choir competition organized by the Bandung Choral Society and are
qualified to participate in the choir championship, or participants who successfully earn a gold medal in
another choir competition recognised by the artistic director.
This activity is open to groups with a minimum number of 16 singers, except the vocal group category may
be open to groups with 4 to 12 singers.
Benefit
Participants who register in this event will have the excellent opportunity to perform with other experienced
and higher quality choirs. All choirs that successfully perform at the Bali International Choir Championships
will be awarded with a championship medal and certificate, and category champions will receive a trophy.

Regulations for categories CH-01 to CH-06 above:
 A choir can only register in one (1) category from CH-01 to CH-06, but can also register in
categories from CH-07 to CH-16.
 It is advisable to choose songs with interesting contrasts that show the maximum level of
artistic quality of the participants.
 Choreography is allowed, but not mandatory.
 In the CH-01, 02, 03 and 04 categories, song selection and difficulty should be adjusted for
age.
 10% of the singers may be 1 year older than the prescribed age limit.

Committee will provide 12 solo mics with cables and a default set equalizer for all
participants. Participants may choose to use the mic or not.

Show Choir



And the following documents MUST be sent by mail service to the BICF secretariat before 27 March
2015, so the committee can give the confirmation of your program:

Category Champion
Each choir with a Championship Gold Medal and who achieves the highest score in each category will be
awarded a Championship Gold Medal, a certificate and a Category Champion trophy.
Grand Prix Championship
All Category Champions of the Bali International Choir Championships will compete again in the Grand Prix
Championship and perform their 2 best songs with a maximum duration of 10 minutes. The Grand Prix
Championship winners will be rewarded with a certificate and a Grand prix champion trophy.
Special Jury Award
Judges will give a special award for outstanding artistic achievement, if any. A conductor who shows
outstanding performance, if any, will be given the award "Outstanding Conductor Award."

General
Regulations
1.
Please read carefully the conditions related to each category: the number of singers, age limit,
performance time, the number of songs, voice type and song type.
2.
4th BICF - 2015 is open to amateur choirs from all over the world.
3.
One choir can only register in a maximum of 3 categories /slots.
4.
If choirs register more than one category, the program songs for each category should be different.
5.
Choirs representing a school, church or participating in a category with an age limit must submit a
statement signed by the principal or person in charge stating the date of birth and age of each member.
A choir is liable to be disqualified without any refund if there is a difference between the official letter and
the appearance on stage or any other factual aspects.
6.
The number of participants on stage should not exceed the amount paid in the participation package.
The committee reserves the right to disqualify without any refund if there is a difference in the number of
participants
7.
Participants must submit five (5) copies of each song by mail service. Four (4) copies of the song can be
taken after the competition, and one copy will be kept on file. Scores not taken by the choir will not be
returned by mail.
8.
All programs MUST be approved by the Artistic Director.
Programs NOT approved by the Artistic Director MUST be replaced.
9.
The committee reserves the right to change the participation category if a program that is presented
does not meet the requirements of the selected category.
10. The committee must be notified of key changes and changes in program order 1 month before the
event in writing or e-mail.
11. Amplification is not allowed in this competition, except in the Show Choir and Vocal Group categories.
12. The committee will only provide an acoustic piano/electric piano. A choir requiring additional equipment
should inform the committee at the time of registration as stated in the category regulations.
13. A maximum of three instruments without definite pitch can be used, except for the folklore and pop and
jazz categories, where there is no limit.
14. Each choir is responsible for the COPYRIGHT of the songs sung in this competition. The committee is
not responsible for the copyright of the songs performed.
15. Sound check/stage rehearsal will be scheduled for 10 minutes for each category in the Bali International
Choir Competition and Choir Championship.
16. The sound check/stage rehearsal schedule will be provided at the time of registration. The schedule
may not be changed or delayed.
17. The PERFORMANCE TIME is the duration from the sounding of the first tone until the last note is
sounded, including the pauses between songs. If a choir exceeds the time specified, the total score will
be reduced by 2% multiplied by the number of minutes exceed and multiplied by the total score.
For example: performance time limit is 15 minutes and the choir performance time is 16 minutes. There will be a
penalty of 1 minute x 2% = 2%
