Wow! Issue 57 three more months to go and
Rebel Rider Magazine turns five years old.
Thousands of pictures, hundreds of articles,
and tons of fun adds it up. This has been a
wonderful ride. If I had it to do all over again,
I would change nothing. Writing * Taking Pictures * Working with others has been our
passion for nearly 20 years now, through all
this time we have made so many wonderful
friends, had the opportunity to visit fantastic
locations all over the USA and world, personally sat down, talked and eaten right along
with motorcycle legends such as Willie G.
Knock on wood, the weather thus far has
been unreal with nearly every day of this winter in the 70’s. We could not ask for more
perfect riding weather, I have yet to see anyone wearing a set of chaps. In addition turnouts for events have been setting records
such as our annual Hang-Over ride this year
that had nearly 200 bikes.

Duran, Jesus S.
Rank: Sergeant Organization: U.S. Army
Company: Company E, 2d Battalion Division: 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division
Born: July 26, 1948, Juarez, Mexico
Departed: Yes (02/17/1977)
Date of Issue: 03/18/2014
Place / Date: May 12, 1970, Republic of Vietnam
Citation Medal Of Honor
Specialist Four Jesus S. Duran distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty while serving as an acting M-60 machine gunner in Company E, 2d Battalion, 5th
Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) during combat operations against an armed enemy in the Republic of Vietnam on April 10, 1969. That afternoon, the reconnaissance platoon was moving into an
elaborate enemy bunker complex when the lead elements began taking concentrated ambush fire from
every side. The command post was in imminent danger of being over run. With an M-60 machinegun
blazing from his hip, Specialist Four Duran rushed forward and assumed a defensive position near the
command post. As hostile forces stormed forward, Specialist Four Duran stood tall in a cloud of dust
raised by the impacting rounds and bursting grenades directed towards him and thwarted the enemy
with devastating streams of machinegun fire. Learning that two seriously wounded troopers lay helplessly
pinned down under harassing fire, Specialist Four Duran assaulted the suppressive enemy positions, firing deadly bursts on the run. Mounting a log, he fired directly into the enemy's foxholes, eliminating four
and cutting down several others as they fled. Specialist Four Duran then continued to pour effective fire
on the disorganized and fleeing enemy. Specialist Four Duran's extraordinary heroism and selflessness
above and beyond the call of duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect
great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
Please Note: Tina Duran Daughter of Jesus Duran being given the Medal of Honor in Washington DC
Ceremony 45 years after the action took place in the Republic of Vietnam.

Riding SOB
Started out the new year right with a great time on
the Hangover Ride. Surprising to see such a huge
turn-out that early on New Years Day….. It‘s already
February? Really, it’s already February. I’m a little
late fillin‘ in the calendar with all the great ridin‘
coming up, but here it is. Save the dates, you don’t
want to miss any of ’em: Seminole HOG’s Valentines
Run, 02/08; DeLand Bike Rally, 03/07; Sam Swope
Ride, 03/08; Bike Week, 03/6-15; Rev. Al’s Coalition
for the Homeless Run, 03/21; Ribbon Rider’s Go Pink
Run, 04/12; Leesburg Bikefest, 04/24-26; Panama
City Spring Rally, 04/29-05/03; and you sure don’t
want to miss a wild time at the Proud to be an
American Bikefest, 05/22-24.…. If you’re looking for
anything related to riding, head over to Bikers Consignment in Winter Park. MJ and Bob always have a
great deal, and the inventory changes every day….. I
want to take a minute here to give out a big welcome
to two new members of the Rebel Rider Magazine
advertiser family. If you need a great sound system
for your bike, stop in and see Frank at Daytona Cycle
Audio in Ormond Beach. If you’re looking for a great
deal on a bike, head over to Beach Street in Daytona
and see Heavy at Midwest Motorcycles….. I was just
wonderin’ - if I went to Bike Week and wore a NASCAR t-shirt, would I be allowed to walk down the
street with a beer in my hand?….. Another new year,
just like last year - look for me out there riding the

US Mil Vets M/C 15th Annual Party
Wow! This story is different. I was sick as can be
but I had to cover the Lake County Mil Vet Event
and knew there was no way I was going to subject anyone to what I had...so the best thing I
could do was a ride by photo shoot...from what I
could tell the American Legion, where the event
was being held in Mount Dora, was as packed as
could be...this was really fantastic for not only
the Mil Vets but also for the American Legion. I
hope I never get sick again on a day like
this...good thing for my Sony Full HD
Movie...Sweet...enjoy what few pictures I was
able to take from inside my four wheeler…Hark

Rock And Rumble Into 2015
Gator Harley-Davidson knows how to kick off a
new year. What more can you ask for when your

Bobby Friss, I guess you could ask for good
weather...well I have yet to see a bad day in
January. The rest is pictures of the way to kick

More Parking At The Hideaway
Do you all remember a few years ago when Dan
owner of the Hideaway bought a piece of property across the street for more parking...you can
get about 200 or more bikes in that area...well I
think he ran out of room. Recently right next to
the parking area in front of the Hideaway on the
Lake Side Dan bought more property and
opened up more parking...not sure how many
bikes can park there but it is certainly awesome.
Thanks Dan for thinking about your customers...no-one likes to walk far.

Ocala HD Customer Appreciation Day
Here it is the middle of January, the sun is shining, the temp is in the upper 60’s……Just a perfect day for riding, and partying with good
friends at Ocala Harley Davidson. These folks
had a custom made smoker, Harley colors of
course, and a counter weight for the heavy door
is a genuine Harley Davidson tranny, awesome.
The best part about this smoker lies inside being
monitored by a real chef cooking up some of the
best BBQ you have ever put in your mouth.
Good music, good food, good friends and truck
loads of brand new Harleys. Good job OHD, as
usual.

Sixth Annual Hang Over Ride
may have decided to join in with a four
wheeler...it was pretty nice when they arrived at
Chelle’s where they found she had put out some
food...which by the way did not last long. Last
stop was our host The Shamrock Lounge & Package in Leesburg where they had blocked off
nearly the whole entire parking lot for bikes.
They again put out one whale of a free food layout that just kept on coming...Peter and Katie
are first class bar owners that always go the extra mile for bikers, their bartenders worked none
stop for hours. The rest is pictures on this page.

New years day 2015...who would have ever
thought an idea that had around 20 or so bikes
turn out the first year for a New Years ride would
have this large a turn out by the sixth year. The
ride this year started at several locations...first
there was Franks Place in Ocoee where around
45 bikers got going around 10 AM, then in Sorrento at the Oasis another 45 or so showed
up...then the group from Ocoee joined the group
at the Oasis and kept on going...by the time the
ride got to the Crazy Gator in Eustis there were
around 200 bikes...I have no clue how many

All About That Beer
For all you Marion County bikers here’s some
good news: Just One More Beer has a new
owner Mr. Darren Decker has taken over and is
adding more coolers, tearing out walls, repainting and making more room, he will be the
3rd owner in a year, and also a real biker. His
first order of business was to have a weekly veterans day where all veterans drink for half price
each Tuesday so all you Vets get out to the bar
and meet the Tuesday bar maid Jessica, she will
take care of all, or most of, your needs, also look
for upcoming ads in our great magazine. For
now just hang loose, this is going to be an awesome party hole.

On January 5th GHD lost their top

which is way too young to die, Nod

loved life and would always greet you

Lochloosa Harbor Chili Cook-Off
Lochloosa Harbor had its first annual Chili Cook
Off. Those attended were the judges, getting to
taste each chili and vote for their favorite. There
were the typical mild and hot versions, wild
game and keeping to the local even a fish chili.
1st, 2nd and 3rd places took home cash prizes.
Then the lids came off and everyone enjoyed
each other’s chili, an iced cold beer and great
company.

Pirates Pub Anniversary
Beautiful weather, Great location, Friendly people, and a great ride to Pirates Pub in Paisley to
an awesome Anniversary Party. It was not that
long ago the only drinks you could order were
beer and wine...these days it is a full bar with a
whole lot more. The Anniversary turn-out was
fantastic with bikes coming and going for hours.
The entertainment was great. Food was provided, bikers loved the outdoor warmth of the
day, you just can’t say enough for the job Mark
and Bonnie owners of Pirates have done.

Partying At The Tilted Kilt
The Tilted Kilt is one great place to party,
meet new friends, eat, drink and be merry. On
this particular night we had some awesome music from Delbert Britton and the Country Hustlers
along with some of our favorite people. Want a
beer? These guys have beer and lots of it, just
about all brands and all sizes from a mug to 100
ounce pitchers, plenty of bike parking and the TK
girls are awesome. Nefty wants to remind everyone that bike night will resume beginning on the
first Saturday in April and I’m sure he will have
some fun things for all to do. Get out to the Kilt,
say hello to Nefty and all the TK girls.
